Best Western

Stayed at this place twice while driving to see family in North Carolina. First stayed was so bad. The water park was closed which my son was very upset about and the pool was closed for repairs (another negative). Then the restaurant was closed. Our room was very uncomfortable that manager gave us a free night on our way back. On the way back we stayed in the honeymoon moon suite. The bed was terrible and the whirlpool was broken. We also noticed mold growing in the shower. Let’s just say we slept and got the heck out of dodge early in the morning. Will stay somewhere else when visiting

How was your stay?, they asked.
Problematic.
We checked in, no problem. Staff was nice. Got to the room. Wall paper was peeling off the wall and the sliding patio door would not lock. So we requested another room.
Room 2. We entered a dark room with no lights. (Wife was a little freaked out by that). The entry light was burned out. The wall outlet was blown. So we had to unplug the fridge to charge our phones. And why was it so dark with a patio door on the unit. There was no sheer drape. Only the room darkening drape. The other drape was totally removed. Which was annoying in the morning. I like the sun to wake me up. But with no sheer drape, the entire parking lot has full frontal view of my hotel room. No sun for You!
We went to the restaurant for breakfast. It is very much so outdated and the tree growing in the center of the restaurant need some bad trimming of the dead limbs. But the food was good and the coffee was fresh. And the server was overly helpful. Thanks for that. It helped.

We’re only using the water park for about 5 hours today and I have to tell you, it’s pretty solid for $ 15/​kid. I’ve got an 8 and 7 year old boy. They’re having a blast.
I mean, we’re in small town Indiana at a hotel so you get what you get.
One big slide (48″ or taller), a big pirate ship with slides coming off of it and a big treasure bucket that dumps water every 10 minutes. It’s shallow and small enough that as an adult you can chill and just let your slightly older kids have fun. You can bring your own food in and eat up in the mezzanine and still see the kids. Oh and they’ve been playing 80s music the whole time. the last three songs were the theme from Beverly Hills Cop, «Relax».by Frankie Goes to Hollywood and Simple Minds «Dont you Forget about Me.»
And here’s everyone’s big concern… It’s pretty clean. Bathrooms were newer, clean and smelled clean. Neither of the boys told me about floating bandaids and I haven’t seen any skin lesions .
Temper your expectations, keep it real and have fun.

Holy accommodations, batman!
I’m stunned that this BW location is averaging only 2 ½ stars, because my stay here was truly exceptional. From check-​in to check-​out, the staff went out of their way to make my one night stay thoroughly enjoyable. Terrific location on state road 26 right next to highway I-​65, and the building also houses the superb – but incredibly underrated – ‘Hour Time’ restaurant. I’ve written a separate review for this gem of an old-​school eatery.
Room rates were higher than others in the immediate vicinity ($ 20 – 30 more than the La Quinta), but I quickly forgot about that once I set foot in the room. When booking, I had put in the comments/​request section to «do something nice and festive for Valentine’s» (my stay was for the evening of ²⁄₁₄). I didn’t specify exactly what, maybe just some fake rose petals on the bed, perhaps a little dish of something, anything. What they did blew us away: Hershey kisses strewn all over the room, a heart-​shaped tray filled with candy, a teddy bear package (!), cute conversational hearts posted everywhere – and I mean everywhere – and to top it all off, a molded chocolate rose.
I was floored. My date could barely contain her surprise and excitement. I would’ve never in a million years predicted how much time and effort (and money!) the staff put into my ‘little request’. They went so far beyond the call of duty just to put smiles on the faces of two guests, I’m still in shock.
If that wasn’t enough, included with the stay were two breakfast vouchers for the Hour Time restaurant: one covered a free entrée and the other was good for 10% off. So breakfast for two came to a little under $ 10, a great deal.
The front desk was ultra nice in letting us check out after the allotted time and for being kind when we misplaced one of our room keys. Comfy bed and spacious rooms, to boot.
***Indoor waterpark mini-​review:
…so guys, I’m still a kid at heart. Doesn’t matter that I’m actually 25, but wild horses couldn’t drag me away from an opportunity to get my butt on a waterslide. Middle of February? Pssh. Buccaneer Bay don’t care, it’s climate-​controlled, always 82* inside, and it’s SO ADORABLE. A children’s splash zone, a few kiddie slides, a 100 gallon dump bucket, and a single 3-​story slide whose entrance is actually the building’s exterior. The first half of the slide is actually outdoors (in a covered tube, natch), so during the winter months you can actually feel the tube getting colder as it meanders outside, and then warm up again once it’s back indoors. Super cool! As an added (visual) treat, huge icicles had formed underneath a section of outside tube, reminding us all that irregardless of the time of year, it’s perpetually nice in their heated waterpark.
Add to that a small arcade, snack shop, and mezzanine deck area for parents to sit and relax, and you’ve got a fantastic way to spend ¼ of a day with the kids. Or in my case, a fun way to spend 10 minutes going on repeated slide runs while families stare at me wondering «how old is this guy?» I was the eldest non-​parent in there by a wide margin, and I truly felt like a giant among midgets (but not in a good way). Whatever, Buccaneer Bay alone gets 4.5 stars.***
Perhaps this five-​star review will get lost among the bevy of my other 5’s (I think of myself as one of the more easily-​impressed Unilocalers), but I mean it when I say that the accommodations exceeded even my loftiest expectations. This was without a doubt one of the most pleasant hotel stays I’ve ever experienced… in fact, I’d be hard-​pressed not to book here again in the future. Very highly recommended.

Front lobby nice Restaurant nice. However the room is definitely old. The staff is extremely friendly not a 3 ½ stars hotel more like a 2 stars

My family stayed here because there were 0 rooms in any other hotel on this stretch of road. I think many people were there for a convention and Purdue students were moving in for college.
They gave us a «discount» for having AAA, making our rate for one room with two full beds $ 109.02. They said the original rate is +$ 120. Quite honestly, they didn’t even ask for our AAA number, so I suggest you tell them you have AAA. Even more honestly, there was a suite available at another hotel and we probably would have paid the same price for a better room.
This rate came with a complimentary breakfast and a 10% coupon if you order anything off the regular menu. The breakfast is in the restaurant connected to the hotel. They seat you at a table and your breakfast options are either 2 eggs, bacon, hashbrowns, and toast or pancakes and bacon. Make sure you bring some cash with you because you’ll have a server and this isn’t a standard buffet style hotel breakfast. Our server was very handsome and nice!
The hotel has a «water park» connected to it (closed on Tuesdays and Wednesdays). There is also a pool and some picnic benches outside. The parking lot is pretty sizable but at night, none of the parking lot lights were on.
The lobby was nicely kept and the front desk staff were friendly. The interior is definitely…“vintage.” The rooms clearly need some renovations, but I think many people just pass through Lafayette so a one night stay isn’t so bad. The toilet water pressure isn’t that strong.
You can connect to the hotel’s wifi, but it’s and open network, the connection itself isn’t very strong, and your session will time out in less than 24 hours.
Lots of restaurants in the area. Walmart in walking distance of the hotel.
Nothing to write home about, but was acceptable for a one night stay!

My sister and I stayed in this hotel for a wedding the only nice thing I have to say is the staff was very friendly and nice and accommodating. The hotel has so much deferred maintenance I am not even sure the last time any maintenance was complete. The carpet is clearly the original and has warped and now has carpet tacks exposed when going into the restroom. I stayed in the Governor’s suite — clearly not fit for a Governor.
The overall cleanliness of the place was terrible we had huge dust balls on the carpet and I was not sure exactly what it was it look like feces.
There are many other options in this town and I am kicking myself for not looking on Unilocal prior to our trip.

We booked via Priceline, fooled into the idea that it was a three star hotel. It is not and we cannot get a refund. It is outdated, dusty, smelly and dirty. Taking a shower here is out of the question. There are better options in the area. My only consolation is that we are just going to spend one night here. Lesson learned. Never again.

Enjoyed my stay here. Called ahead to let the front desk know I’d be arriving in the middle of the night, and the clerk was there waiting at 3am. Actually got to check in that early, and was only charged for the following night. Score! The bed is huge and comfortable. TV is an approx. 40 inch flat screen, nice and modern with all cable channels. Drain in the shower was a little slow, but no big deal. Everyone was super friendly. The restaurant is pretty good. Fitness center closes at 9pm, which was inconvenient for me being on L.A. time. 4.5 stars overall, a decent economy hotel.

I had to visit Purdue for a career fair and this place had the highest stars on Unilocal for the places that had rooms remaining. I now know why there were remaining rooms and why Best Western does not have sisters in their rewards program like everyone else… because they are horrible.
They save on costs by not updating rooms, not giving a complimentary breakfast, and combining shampoo and conditioner into one. I am guessing they save further on costs by paying maids at the cheapest rate possible.
Instead of complimentary breakfast they give a discount to the restaurant attached (never tried it). The rooms looked as though they were from the late 80’s/early 90’s and hadn’t been updated since.
Now my largest complaint, after my relaxing night of sleep, I go to my bathroom to find a large water bug roaming around the floor. I put a cup on top of it and leave it in the shower with the curtain open for the maid to deal with. I didn’t think I would have to call housekeeping but apparently I did because when I arrived back later that day, the towels were new, and the shower curtain had been drawn closed. I peaked in to find my little bug still there. I decided then it was the last night I would be staying there and put Best Western at the bottom of the list for hotels to stay out.
The only good thing about the place was the bed, it was super soft and comfortable and appeared clean; however, based on my room service I’m thinking it’s more of a façade.
One final note, their wifi doesn’t have a password so security wise I’d think twice about logging on to the internet here.

I stayed here with my parents while we visited my fiancé’s family. The décor of the hotel is definitely dated, though like the other reviewer stated while the effect in the lobby is somewhat charming, in the rooms it was very, very dated. There was one bed and a pull out couch, not my preference for sleeping arrangements.
There was a fridge, coffee maker and microwave in the room which was pretty convenient, though the temperature on the fridge was a bit high. I had hoped that they would have had an extra blanket in the closet for the pull out but we ended up having to call for it later that night. The clerk at the desk was a bit brusque on the phone but was nice enough when he brought the blanket by. The hotel staff in the morning talk pretty loudly and if you can understand any Spanish you’ll hear some interesting and somewhat vulgar conversation.
It was nice of the front desk clerk to let us check in early and check out a bit late, though there was a bit of an issue with the timing of the hotel key cards at the end. When we first got in on Thursday there were few people in the hotel but there was a convention that weekend so by the end there were a ton of kids, families, truckers, etc. And after that point it would have been an even less than ideal place to stay. Still, I didn’t realize that the nightly rate we got on the place through Priceline was around $ 40, since I didn’t realize that we were staying an extra night and that was a pretty good price. That said, I wish we had booked earlier and gotten the University Hotel, it would have been much closer to their house and possible a lot nicer. I would definitely have paid more to have been a bit more comfortable and given my back a bit of a break.

Stayed here for a few days when I helped my nephew move into the dorms at Purdue.
The lobby is really nice and has a lot of character. A lot of the furniture and knickknacks are from the turn of the century — to early 30’s old-​school Americana. (Pretty cool.) But that’s where the charm ends.
We got there at 3:00 am because of the crazy freeway reconstruction/​etc. No one was at the desk. Just a sign that said «Clerk out on errand. Will be back shortly.’ Err, wtf? It’s 3:00 am. What kind of errand can you take care of at that time? But ok. So we waited. And waited. And waited. We called the hotel and the phone began ringing at the desk in front of us… About 25 minutes later, the clerk showed up.
Our room was small and furnished from the late seventies early eighties era. (Not. Cool.) The toilets redefined low-​flush. I mean, there’s gotta be at least enough water to get the job done. Very dingy, very low brow. But the price was low on Hotwire: $ 62 a night.
The whirlpool was just the saddest thing. There were bubbles in the actual floor and sides of the pool so you would move and feel the weird, squishy thick plastic move with you. And the jets were HELLA strong i.e. you’d get splashed in the eye when you weren’t expecting it…
Spend a few extra dollars and stay somewhere nice.
