Kathy is awesome! She has integrity and respects both her clients and her crew. Woman-​owned construction company with a quarter of a century of experience working in the SF Bay Area-​what more could you ask?

Disappointing. They said that they are booked solid right now. They left me a vocemail stating that they wouldn’t even come out to give me an estimate. I appreciate their candor but maybe they should have a note on their website that they aren’t accepting new projects right now.

I love working with Kathy and crew! I live alone and trust the workers to be in my condo while I’m at work all day. They have the utmost respect for my belongings.
I completed my kitchen well over a year ago (fantastic!), and when they were done I mentioned I wanted to do my bathroom soon. Big Red contact me about doing my bathroom. Because my schedule was flexible they worked me in and got it done very fast!
I was thrilled to be working with the same carpenters/​plumbers/​painters again. They are so friendly and do really great and fast work. And Kathy is a pleasure to work with, and very responsive. She helped with things that were above and beyond what she needed to do (design, picking up a shower curtain for me, etc).
I’m saving up to do some work in my bedroom now!

Two years ago we hired Big Red to replace wooden siding on our 100 year old home as well as paint the entire structure. This was a sizable job and we were a bit anxious — having not had great experiences with Bay Area contractors in the past. Since that first job we don’t even think about calling anyone else for work on our home, because we don’t need to.

Our only regret is we didn’t find Kathy when we first moved in 10 years ago, we’d be better off and so would our house.

If you’re looking to add on to your home — look no further! Big Red Construction comes in on time, and on budget. They added 600+ sf for us, and we are loving every minute of it! Their workers are curteous, tidy and on time. Plus, Kathy (the owner) is a dynamo of a business woman!
Since I wrote this review 3 years ago, Big Red Construction has:
— installed an oven
— built custom cabinetry
— upgraded some of our bedroom lighting
— replaced several windows
— fixed our roof
— repaired dry rot (found by Planet Orange — another great company)
— and they are currently creating a dream patio and hardscape (photos to come)
Big Red is all about quality. I can’t tell you how great the experience with them has been. We’ve formed a great relationship, and everyone in their office is also helpful and very knowledgeable. I have never found this amount of service from any other contractor (and we have used several).
