Patrick is one of the best guitar teacher I know. I went to to his school a couple of years ago and I loved it. He makes learning the guitar so easy and his very patient with you.

I loooove this place! I recommend this to all parents!!! I chose to bring my son here for music lessons because I heard from a friend that it was the best music instruction in the area. I checked out their website and scheduled a meeting with the owner… I was so impressed with the level of experience that the teachers have. I want my son to learn to play guitar correctly from the start so he can choose to do whatever he wants with it. Whether he wants to play for fun or go on to music college, he’s in the right place. They also have monthly jam nights where my son gets on stage and plays with a band made up of teachers and sometimes other students. He not only gets the experience of playing with great players but he is getting so confident in front of other people. He used to be so shy. It hurt me to see him struggle with it because I was the same way as a kid. He’s making friends at the school and everyone is so supportive. It really is a community that cares. He’s not only getting the best music lessons(which was my initial intent) but more importantly to me– he’s growing up in a positive environment that encourages him to be comfortable in his own skin :)

I started taking lessons at BSM about 3 months ago and I could not be happier with the results. Bradley School of Music does an excellent job listening to the student and politely instructing them on how to be a better musician. I have been playing the guitar for many years, but between the expert staff at BSM, I am surrounded by musicians who are better than me and have lots to teach. I have taken private lessons with Pat Bradley(the owner), Jason Heninger, and Chris Hansen. Each instructor has a unique, personalized teaching style that obviously stems from them begin great musicians. I love it because Pat will show me new soloing techniques, Jason will clarify any questions I have(as well as give me new stuff to learn), and Chris will spend the time to fully explain the theory(Chris is also teaching me some really sweet soloing techniques for the acoustic guitar). All three instructors have taught me to be a better guitar player as individual teachers, and as a unit working under the BSM umbrella. It is tough to put into words how cool it is to have a «team» of teachers available to make you a better musician. I could go on about how great BSM is; but I have to go to one of their«drop-in classes» in which the instructors are present and available for the students(last Tuesday of the month). Another great service they provide. Finally, Pat’s wife, Sara, does an amazing job staying on top of all the students’ schedules and even sends texts reminders when I have new class beginning. How nice!

I have taken lessons with both the owner, Patrick, and another instructor, Jason. Both of them are excellent instructors. What I like the most about Bradley School of Music is the instructors relentless enthusiasm to get the students more involved. They are genuinely excited and constantly encouraging, no matter what your skill level. They want you to have fun, and be able to get up and play on their jam nights. All the lessons and practice you do is all building up to the monthly jam nights. The Bradley School of Music staff packs up all their gear and sets up a stage at Vinnie’s Bar in Concord.(this may vary depending on future venues) Every student is given the opportunity to come up and perform the piece they’ve been working on, or just get up there and jam. I think it’s a great philosophy, because you have incentive to really practice and hone your abilities, so that you can play well at jam night. Everyone at jam night is professional, encouraging, and is there to have fun. If you are on the fence, you should just visit a jam night and see these guys in action. If you are new to the instrument, or are looking for constructive ways to improve your playing, these guys know how to do it. They’ll set you up on the correct curriculum, or in my case, work on song writing and technical proficiency. I’ve seen my playing improve dramatically, and it makes you like the instrument more, and want to spend more time with it. In closing, the whole set up is just class-A professional. Bradley School of Music has a wonderful location, great facilities, dedicated staff, and a warm environment. The only thing to be worried about is you(or your kid) wanting to invest in more guitar stuff at home.

This school is fantastic! I have always wanted to play guitar. Patrick and Jason gave me the guidance and encouragement to make that happen. Before I started, Patrick even met me up at the guitar shop to help me pick out a guitar that was right for me and made sure it was set up properly. I’m in my mid forties and have never taken music lessons outside of band class in junior high. Within months of beginning I was up on a stage playing along with the instructors and other students in a truly supportive environment. That’s what I find most unique about the school. They focus on the performance. I’ve only been playing about a year and a half and I know around 20 full songs on guitar by memory, I’m able to play about 13 of them on stage with others at the Jam nights; songs vary from Rock, Country, Jazz, Blues and Funk. I can now improvise a solo with some confidence, I can sing and play at the same time and I am learning how to listen and play as a group. The other aspect that has made my experience so rewarding is that they work with me to guide my own curriculum. There is a great back and forth with them; they push to give me a proper foundation in regards to technique, expression and theory while I bring in music and ideas I’ve been wanting to explore and understand. Because Jason has studied music for many years now and plays in a band he is able to teach me a wide variety of styles and techniques. He understands each style can play them with a confidence. In addition to the songs I play regularly we’ve studied many more, We’ve broken down solos and fun riffs I want to understand, reading music, guitar tablature, scales, listening exercises, certain artist’s styles, fingerstyle, chicken pickin’, strumming patterns, slide guitar, effects pedals, etc… Not only are Patrick and Jason great, all of the other teachers have been helpful and supportive as well. I highly recommend this school.

My son has been going to Bradley School for several years now. It’s been very convenient to have the instructor come to our home and work with my son. We have had awesome instructors, both Jason and Nick are amazing musicians. The instructors are patient and willing to be flexible based on the child’s abilities and needs. They do JAM sessions at Pyramid Alehouse once a month so if you want to see the results of these kids and what they have learned, have a visit and check it out. There is not better way to check out a music school than to hear the results their students.

Rick Cittar is one of the instructors at Bradley School of Music, he teaches along side with Patrick Bradley. My 12 yr-old daughter just started taking guitar lessons with Rick four months ago and it’s amazing how much she has learned in such a short period of time. She responds really well to Rick’s style of teaching. He is very kind and patient with her but at the same time he sets clear goals for her and motivates her to perform new music every month(for the school’s monthly JAM sessions at Pyramid Brewery in Walnut Creek). I’ve been video taping all of her performances and there is a HUGE difference from the first month she played her very first song until the one we just had this month. She has made tremendous progress! Her most recent performance was so touching, it brought tears to my eyes and other guests. I couldn’t be happier with the results I see. Rick is by far one of the best guitar instructors in this area. I have recommended him to close friends of mine who now also have their children taking lessons from Rick and they feel the same way. Great job, Rick! YOUROCK!!!

Patrick Bradley is a guitar instructor. I’ve taken lessons from many different teachers, and he’s one of the best. He’s a Berklee School Grad, which is no small feat. He can teach you how to read music, rhythm, improvisation & soloing, performing and he can teach any style; Jazz, Blues, Rock, Classical, fingerstyle, you name it. He also provides a way to play live — once a month he puts on a Jam Night at Pyramid Brewery(all ages — some of his students are 6 years old) and his students play for friends and family, which has tremendous value. He’s got a fantastic attitude, and loves what he does. Really nice guy, and an excellent instructor. I highly recommend Bradley School of Music no matter what level of musician you are.
