Horrid food. Even though the selection of beers is quite impressive, a good bar it makes not. Especially considering that The Black Sparrow is just down the road, and is so much better that why this place exists is beyond me. Everything we ordered was barely edible, which included two appetizers and three main courses. The wait staff was pleasant though. Come here for sports and beer. Skip the food.

Good overall sports bar. Good tap selection and lots of pub food options. I sat at the bar and had friendly service. Pleasant place.

Most of the time the service is fantastic, but there are times when the servers completely act like they don’t want to be there. That being said the good times outweigh the few bad times we have had here. The beer selection is excellent, and their burgers are the best around. Great atmosphere.

The best times) days to go are Monday and Thursday, when they have schooner night. You can get beer or cocktails in a big schooner glass at a very affordable price(they’ll sell you one that you can keep bringing, if you don’t already have one). The beer selection is huge; the cocktail menu only has about a dozen drinks but most people will probably be able to find something that suits them. From 4 – 6 pm the appetizers are half price. I like the nachos, calamari, and quesadillas. Not a fan of the fried pickles or chicken tenders. Service can sometimes be a bit slow.

My friends and I love the half price appetizers events in the late afternoons and this makes the place our gathering place right after school. We also love the schooner night! They have a huge beer menu and I guess you can pretty much find whatever beer you like. I personally am not a beer person, but I have been supporting their cocktails. Favorite cocktail: Colorado root beer and Mai tai. Appetizers are also good and I like the calamari and BBQ nacho.

We had no idea where to stop off for lunch whilst passing through on our way to NapTown. My better half saw the excellent draft list at Chumley’s and that’s where we went. It’s a nice space with your usual sports bar feel that I’m sure is a hit with the campus crowd of the area. It took us some time to work through the tap list and just when we were ready with our calls our waitress threw us for a loop with perhaps the best beer deal I’ve heard since dollar drafts at the Cockpit(Columbia, SC)-on Saturday pints from Indiana Brewers were only $ 3.50! Oh my! With nearly a half dozen Three Floyds on the list this had the potential to get ugly. Alpha King for the lady and the Bruce for me. The food is typical pub fare of all sorts. Perhaps too much, it bordered on overwhelming. Grilled chicken salad for Kris and I had a grilled chicken sandwich with the hottest of their wingy sauces. It was damn good and lit me up. Gimbal head and Alpha King for our second round and then out the door we went. If I were local, I’d surely be here every Saturday.

If you want prompt service definitely sit at the bar. We come here often for the Thursday schooner night.(A schooner glass is $ 6, you can take it with you and bring it back. A refill is the cost of a draft for a beer, a double for liquor, and you can also get their mixed drinks for way cheap.) Service is sparse(but friendly) even before the place gets packed. If my husband and I come here as a twosome we always sit at the bar. Every time we’ve sat at the bar the people working have been very cheerful and attentive! The food is decent, slightly above par in most aspects. Except for their nachos. Chumley’s nachos, to me, are the pinnacle of nachos. Gooey cheese, loaded with veggies, and free guac. That’s right, free guac! Chumley’s has ruined my nachos experience at every other restaurant. The hummus is also very good and the portions are huge. Their wings are delicious but overpriced — I only get them on Sundays when they are half off. If you like sports this is a great place to watch the games. They have tons of TVs and they’ve started marking the TVs with magnets that show the lineup they’ll be showing on each TV that night, so you can be sure to sit near a TV that has your game on it. Three stars because, despite the delicious nachos, it’s still a loud and dark college bar that can get pretty rowdy. Schooner nights are Monday & Thursday, and they have half priced apps every weekday from 4−6pm. Wings are half off all day Sunday!

Great atmosphere and a good place to meet friends. A popular spot for grad students from Purdue. And a bonus – this bar knows how to make cocktails right!

They’re a good bar. Good food, good drinks… The only thing holding them back is terrible customer service. Last time(last time ever, now) we went there, the total was accidentally written on the tip line. Four days later, when called and asked about it, they refused to make it right. I know this is partly a customer error, but who would think someone would leave a 120% tip? That’s shady business practice, to me. Besides that we waited 10 minutes to get a refill on drinks, when they brought our appetizer out our original server wrote the wrong table number down and our new server was asking the table next to us if they got food. Before this trip I’ve seen super unprofessional behavior by staff. It was a little slow one time(early on a Monday) and the door person and server were chatting with who I presume to be another employee who wasn’t working(or just a random customer!) and they were flirting, laughing and really enjoying themselves… While I was sitting with an empty glass. At one point the bartender even joined them to chat. All the while I sat without a drink. We were planning on ordering food, but we just left after we paid, of course. They missed out on a potential sale and an even better tip… But still, my point stands: the only thing holding them back is that they lack decent customer service.

I’m not sure what the service issue has been in the past, but I have been to Chumleys four times and had wonderful service. Twice it was just for the beer selection and twice for food. The California Chicken Sandwich was one of the best chicken sandwiches I have ever eaten. I did a carry out on a moving day of their cheese burgers. I typically like thin patties but these are thick. I didn’t get to eat it until it was cold and it was still excellent. You could tell the beef was high quality. Sports bar with wide variety of beers AND good food!

Chumley’s is a great place to stop whether you’d like a few drinks or excellent food(or both). The atmosphere is often quiet enough that I’ve even seen students doing school work at the corner tables late on weeknights. Their drink menu is absolutely fantastic, ranging from a massive selection of beer to martinis and cocktails. Overall, when myself and some friends are looking for a quieter place to eat and still enjoy a few drinks this is generally the place we agree on. The only downside is that you might need a DD.

Had one bad experience with rude people checking IDs at the door, but other than that this place has a great beer selection and really great food.

This was and still is one of our go-to places in the Lafayette /West Lafayette area. I spent many an evening here in college and end up back here fairly often when visiting the alma mater. Their beer selection is simply outstanding. They feature beers from all over the place and even have a lot of Indiana beers if you’re looking for something closer to home. And, in case all that drinking has made you feel a little peckish, then fear not — their food, while your typical bar food offerings, is all very well done and satisfying. Chum’s will always be my first pick for a relaxed place to hang out. And I recommend you give it a go too.

I used to be at Chumley’s frequently but lately their service has gone from mediocre to just plain bad! You order a medium burger and you get it well done and so soggy with grease that the burger bun dissolves in your hands. The worst part was yet to come … They charged my credit card with $ 2000 for a $ 19 check. Got a call from my credit card company and had to stay on the phone for 30 min to sort everything out. I have traveled to many countries all over the world and this has never happened before. The icing on the cake was that the manager didn’t even apologize. She said she would talk with the server and made it seem like this happens all the time at Chumely’s …be aware!

Chumleys is always our go-to place when we want a night out. We have lots of friends from Chicagoland and we always go here for the variety of beer. Music is always amazing! Hard to get a table on weekends and staff is OK but never outstanding customer service. One really disappointing experience. We had friends coming down for my fiancé’s birthday and as always, planned for Chumleys. Unfortunately, I had two wisdom teeth removed the day before and the only thing I could eat were their side items. They would not let me! I asked the waiter to check with a manager and the same result. No matter what I offered to pay, they would not serve me any kind of side item unless it was served with a meal. Thought that was pretty ridiculous that they could not accommodate a regular customer who could only eat certain foods on the menu.

I enjoy this Chumley’s so much more than it’s cousin in Broad Ripple. Much nicer atmosphere, very open layout and the location in the older building is awesome. Reminds me of so many great old town bars I love so much. Fantastic draft beer selection and lots of drink specials thru out the week. Great choices in Indiana beers tool. I really enjoy their wings. They definitely crack my top 10 places to get wings. This time I had the dry caribbean jerk and hot honey. Both were yummy, with a surprising amount of spice. This is becoming my go-to grub place when in Lafayette. Try it!

For me, Chumley’s is my favorite bar in downtown Lafayette(most wouldn’t agree with me). I like the energy and being able to watch football. The food is just your typical bar food — nothing special, but they have a lot of options. Similarly, there are a lot of options for beer. I have honestly never had anything other than beer at Chumley’s, so I cannot speak for their mixed drinks. The best nights to go are Thursdays(schooner night) or during a big game. Schooner nights(Mondays and Thursdays) are a really good deal, but be careful not to get too carried away! Overall, I have never had a bad night at Chumley’s, but it is more my atmosphere. If the atmosphere isn’t for you, try Black Sparrow.

I got a drink called the Electric Lemonade, it is pretty similar to an AMF that we have in CALI. I liked it and it was pretty cheap also! Come here to drink, there are a lot of TVs that show different games!

I really enjoyed coming to Chumley’s. I was out with the boyfriend and his friends and we had already been to one other bar(Brothers) that we were less than impressed with. Chumley’s is a very sports sports bar. There are tons of televisions everywhere, each showing various different sports or sports related programming. There is even a tv in the womens restroom, so you don’t have to miss any of the action if there is a line. We arrived rather late so the kitchen was only doing appetizers, fine with us. We had the half order of nachos with taco beef, sour cream, and guacamoli(~$ 7). They were delicious and perfect for two/three people. The beer list is expansive. It is a menu of American, English, European beers, ciders, largers, etc. As well as mixed drinks and well drinks. There is something there for everyone! I had the Raspberry Cider($ 4.75) that was delicious and light. I also had the Mai Thai(~$ 6) which was delicious. The highlight of the night was the Chocolate Covered Pretzel Shots. The table ended up having two rounds and they were absolutely incredible. Service was very pleasant and the waiter was able to split the tab into multiple tabs(why is that so hard to do in LA?!). I loved everything about this bar, especially the fact that I was able to have 2 drinks, 1 mixed drink, a cider, a round of 6 shots, and food on my tab for under $ 50!
