Douglah Designs

About a year ago, I made a call to Douglah from our home in Virginia. We were moving back to Lafayette and had bought an older home we wanted to remodel. We started making calls to see about redoing the kitchen. No other kitchen design company in the area would meet with us, or even talk seriously about working on a long distance remodel, except Leila. She returned my call, listened to my ideas, and met with me a week later in the Lafayette showroom. That was the start of a beautiful friendship and an amazing remodel that brought tears to my eyes when I stepped into my new kitchen for the first time. Douglah is outstanding because of Leila, and Leila hires only the best at what they do. I loved my designer, Cristina. There’s no way I could have worked across the country with anyone but her. She’s an expert at design, getting things done exactly right, and working with all the other people in the company who are crucial to your project. Everyone in the company has respect for each other, and that, I know, is due to their incredible leader. Phase 1 was completed in May, and Phase 2 was just finished last week. Our entire house had a Douglah makeover — hardwood floors, state of the art bathrooms, built in bookcases, one-​of-​a-​kind rebuilt fireplaces, and, of course, our gorgeous brand-​new kitchen. Nothing was too big or too small. I guess you can tell, if you’ve stayed to read this entire review, I highly recommend Douglah Designs. Thanks Leila, Cristina, Anthony, Scott, Todd, and Richard for outstanding work, communication, and dedication in making my house a perfect home.

Leila and her entire staff are wonderful. Their attention to detail is amazing. You really do get the feeling throughout the entire process that they have your needs at the top of their list and will always make you a priority. Very well run company!

I went to Douglah for a consultation with Cynthia, a kitchen designer there. She was so helpful, came in after hours to meet with me and gave me all kinds of mad good advice. My job is really small and budget laughingly low so not sure I will get a chance to work with Douglah. Still, she sat with me, giving out very good advice and counsel and looked at the pictures. She took into account how long we would live in the house, the value of the house, etc. did not give me a hard sell. They didn’t make any money off me but I really appreciate the advice and would recommend them based on this experience I had. The showroom is amazing too.

The real measure of a company can be assessed when that company has a problem and how they respond to it. We went to Douglah Designs for our «small» kitchen remodel knowing they had a very good reputation, and came highly recommended. When we ran into problems in the «Build» phase of Design-​Build, the company immediately responded in both correcting the problem and doing so in a prompt and efficient manner. The best thing we can say about Douglah Designs is they fully stand behind the projects they complete to the full satisfaction of the client. That is because Leila and the team she has built are true professionals in every sense of the word. Whenever anyone asks us about our beautifully remodeled kitchen you can bet we will tell them about the very good experience we had with Douglah Designs.

We did two major remodeling projects with Douglah Design, both of which turned about wonderfully. Our first project was two bathrooms. The second was our kitchen/​family room which was a complete gut and start over project. Leila and her team were wonderful partners in designing the projects, selecting materials, and ensuring that execution of the project was as expected. Leila has a wide array of styles and materials available in her showroom and she is very skilled at listening to clients’ needs and showing them an array of alternatives that fit their needs/​desires/​budget. She is extremely creative throughout the project and can rapidly re-​tool when things don’t go precisely as planned. Her wonderful positive attitude and good sense of humor help keep everyone happy along the way. She also has fantastic relationships with local contractors which made everything go smoothly for us. Three years later we are still extremely happy with the work we did with Douglah Design. Our kitchen was featured on the Lafayette Kitchen tour two years ago and we got lots of compliments on the combination of beauty and functionality. We can’t recommend Douglah Design more highly!
