Genevee’s Studio

Spent countless hours searching for the perfect place to get my hair done and after reading many reviews in favor of Genevee’s Studio, I decided to book an appointment online. When I arrived for my appointment, I was greeted by Carrie. She was wonderful, so friendly… However, she did such an awful job on my hair. I showed her the picture of how I wanted my hair, granted my hair is dark so it would take time and patience to get the silver platinum in my hair. She was super excited and told me that what I wanted wouldn’t be hard to achieve at all. I already did my research and understand that the color I wanted would take time, I thought maybe she could do some miracle. I showed her the picture twice and she ended up giving me all over caramel highlights. I honestly have no idea what she did to my hair, if she was going for the ombré I wanted or highlights since the highlights didn’t even touch the root of my head like highlights which isn’t what I wanted. Told her I loved my hair which I actually hated. I paid $ 120 for whatever she did to my hair and I tipped her $ 50. I was so unhappy with my hair and after consulting with a few stylists, they told me to go back, some of them even laughed at how bad of a job she did. So, I emailed and I haven’t received an email back. I’m giving them two stars because she was very attentive and friendly, she even gave me a hand massage while we were waiting for the color to set in. It just sucks that I had to go to my original stylist and pay another $ 140 for a mistake she did.

First if all, male here. I was little bit worried before I went to Genevee’s, since most of the reviews are from last year and it seems that the studio is good at female hair styling and coloring. However I am super satisfied with the haircut I got here. My hair is handled by Missa, who is professional, experienced and very friendly. I have a specific hair style in mind (slicked back undercut, kind like brad Pitt’s in fury), after I described it and shown Missa the picture of hair style, she got it immediately and you know what, after ten minutes I got the exact same hair style. Also during the cutting she always leave some room for adjusting, not to cut a lot all at once, and ask if I am satisfied with the length and thickness. Overall I graded Genevee’s a five star without any doubt and I will definitely go back there later.

I have been going to Genevee for years, and most of my friends also do, which is quite a large group. Everyone absolutely loves her work. She is very, very, creative and has a lot of advanced training also. She takes new classes all the time which keeps her on the cutting edge of techniques. She has never hesitated to make suggestions for new looks for me also which I really appreciate. I think her confidence in her skills allows her to not be afraid to tell me what may look good!

I went to Genevee’s Stuido to have my hair styled for my wedding. I had Alyssa and she did a FANTASTIC job! I had my hair done with soft waves/​curls and left it down with a rhinestone headband. I couldn’t have been happier. She also did my sister’s hair (side swoop) and makeup which looked great. Genevee did my mom’s up-​do and she kept getting compliments all night. Overall, we were all very pleased with Genevee’s Studio. Everyone there is so nice and friendly and the prices are reasonable. Coffee was also provided for our morning appointment. I would definitely recommend!

I moved to Lafayette about 6 months ago for school and struggled to find a place to get my haircut. In my previous city, I had the same hairdresser for about 3 years and grew to trust and respect her opinion on how my hair should look. For six months I hopped around to different places before stumbling to Genevee’s today.
Brandon gave me a great haircut, and made suggestions, but ultimately listened to me about what I liked to do with my hair and worked with that. Also, he made some great suggestions for how to care for my hair, which is something that I haven’t really ever had someone help me with.
The salon seems to be in a state of flux right now though (like rearranging the layout, or something), but it’s a great open feel and super convenient. You can make appointments on-​line and they’ll even send you email reminders so you don’t forget about them later. I definitely recommend them to anyone looking for a fun and knowledgeable atmosphere to their hair cut.

Brandon listened to what I wanted and was very engaging and professional.
I would most definately recommend this salon and stylist, and I plan on returning!

I just had my hair cut and colored by Genevee. She did a great job, listened to what I wanted and gave me input when I asked for it. She cut my hair while it was dry, which was a new experience, but the cut turned out great! She also gave me highlights, which were a first for me, and I loved them! She gave me exactly the look I was going for. One downfall was that the place, while very vintage and charming, was a bit messy for my taste. I would have liked to see it just slightly more clean and professional, but hey, she still did a wonderful job on my hair. Also, there is an option to book appointments online, which is fantastic!

Recently had Genevee give me a trim (after 2 years without a haircut!) and she did a great job. She came highly recommended by several friends and her reviews on Google are great. She recently opened her own salon, and it’s located in a cool historic building on Main Street downtown. Very chic! OH — and there’s a really cool boutique downstairs, The Velvet Underground.
Genevee is so patient and is a great listener. I’m going back this week to have her add some pink to my hair — which she’s super excited about. It’s nice to have a stylist who loves doing unconventional things in addition to regular styles!
