Love this place. Good music from 50’s-60’s. Food is very good and reasonable. Been going to this place and familiar faces know us when we walk in. Owner always tells customers hello. Best fried mushrooms, chicken fried steak, Catfish Louisiana, awesome. And hamburgers remind me of years ago when a burger WAS A GREATBURGER, not just a sliver of meat and tons of bread.

Enjoyed another plate of red beans & rice along w/a cup of chicken & sausage gumbo. Yum! The gumbo was worth the overly stuffed feeling I had when I left the restaurant. My dining partner had one of the best chicken fried steaks he had in years(so he said). Very pleasant waitress who catered to the requests of my other dining companions. GREAT! Will come back every time I can!

Great diner! Good food, good service. I’ve had their chicken fried steak, and the hamburger. Both were excellent! Recommended.

The atmosphere is amazing! It is set up like a cute 50’s diner with even the oldies music playing. There is a wide selection of food to choose from. Our table got the burger and the heart healthy grilled chicken with sweet potato fries. The grilled chicken was seasoned excellently and the sweet potato fries were addicting! The burger was delicious and well cooked. The brown rice pilaf was so good! Service was great. Prices were reasonable. Definitely a great place for a great meal!

Just finished an amazing breakfast! Food came out fast and hot. Cajun omelet and sweet potato pancakes with pecans, bananas and local syrup were to die for! The«hash browns» were more like lightly fried potatoes chunks with cajun spices. Very very very good. Overall a spectacular breakfast for $ 20. Highly recommend.

When we walked in the sign said seat yourself so we did. The server took a while to get around to us, but I don’t think anyone saw us walk in. She gave mediocre service. The old diner ambiance is nice though. We started with a bowl of shrimp and okra gumbo and potato salad. The gumbo was decent for a restaurant. The potato salad had too much relish for my taste, and no eggs. I got the blue plate lunch special: roast beef and gravy over rice, collard greens, and navy beans. The roast beef was so tender that it fell to piece with a fork. It was also seasoned perfectly. The greens were cooked well but over salted. My husband had a burger. It was average. I’m giving it the 4th star for the roast beef.

First time diners. We started with fried pickles. Wow! A huge portion and very yummy! We both had the Spinach Florentine stuffed Meatloaf w/mashed potatoes and corn maque choux. A generous portion and very good. Our server was prompt to return our plates to warm up as the food was just tepid. All in all, we will be back. Good food, good prices and great service.

This was my first time visiting this diner. I thought it was really well priced. I had the meatloaf with potatoes and gravy and red beans and rice. The potatoes tasted a little prepackaged but the red beans and rice were delicious. I also had the fried pickles which were delicious and the Atomic qs which were OK.

Stopped in for breakfast with a really large group with quite a few kids during Christmas rush. Service was outstanding with people being very accommodating and understanding. Food was great, but the great service is really what is prompting me to write the review.

Visited this restaurant last Sunday with my family, it took a while to be seated. My husband asked for breakfast, but we were to that it was over. Ordered, and it wasn’t until about 10 – 15 minutes later that the waitress came over and told my husband that they were out of the beef special and had substituted it with pork chops. I ordered a fried mushroom appetizer also. I ordered the hamburger steak. Food comes out about 20 – 25 minutes later and the pork chop is tough and unappetizing. He ate it without complaint. Mine was decent. Finished our entire meal and still no appetizer. Flagged down the waitress to cancel and she said that it was on its way out. Food gets brought out to the table next to us, which was seated long after we were, and its breakfast! WTH! All in all, food isn’t terrible, but it’s not the absolute best either. Bland, definitely lacking in seasoning. Service on busy days is not great, but usually very nice employees. I would go back, everyone has bad days.

Built in 1990 but with a 1950’s feel this is a great little dinner in the oil center. Burgers are juicy and they have great Curley fires. The food isn’t «spectacular» but it is consistently good … And a big step above most other«diners». Along the lines of what you could make for yourself at home with a little effort.

Locally owned and operated since 1990 Right across street from hospital Old fashion diner décor. I’ll rate the food after I eat. Ok as good a breakfast as I’ve ever had, the one fries were totally awesome and the pancakes were homemade and the eggs were cooked just as I ordered them

This place is fantastic! I’ve been going here since I was a kid & from the old fashioned Cadillac convertible kids meal holder, to their chicken fried steak with white gravy this place has it all. They also offer an ‘ear Lafayette’ selection for 8.99 which comes with soup of the day, spinach florentine stuffed meat loaf, two sides, AND bread pudding. Try their fried jãlepaneos(my favorite) or their fried pickles. They also have delicious milk shakes and a really good banana split. They’re milkshakes are also super. You can’t go wrong with anything on the menu! They even serve breakfast! Chicken fried steak & eggs is the best!

A solid average 2.5. Not a horrible experience but nothing to write home(or anywhere else) about. We decided to try this place out after a Sat morning trip to the farmers market across the street. They were busy but getting a table was not a problem. The waitress was average. The place had average diner atmosphere. The food was average. Their biscuits were supposed to be the must get. Meh… You can do better at Mel’s Diner in my opinion.

The fried jalapeños are TODIEFOR. Seriously, you don’t even have to like jalapeños-they are that good! The only thing I wish they did was a half and half deal with the fried pickles and fried jalapeños, because honestly they are both D-lish!

They have a very good breakfast menu. Their pancakes are like manhole covers. Home style burgers are above average, and the chili cheese hotdogs are excellent. If you are not sure what to get, their blue plate special is the way to go.

Hub City Diner offers decent food with very cool 50’s diner atmosphere. On a recent trip to Lafayette I decided to stop here for lunch. Upon entering it was if I had been transported back to the 1950’s. The whole restaurant had the old feel with a jukebox prominently displayed by the front door and retro styled booths. I decided to keep it simple and ordered a cheeseburger with atomic fries. According to the menu the atomic fries were the standard curly fries topped with cheese, chili and jalapenos. What I didn’t know was that the cheese was liquid nacho style cheese. The fries would have been significantly better had they used actual shredded cheese. The burger was good, but not great. Since I wasn’t asked how I wanted it cooked, I assume all burgers are cooked medium well. Maybe it is my fault for not asking, but to me it seemed overcooked. I realize some places do this for food safety reasons, but I do not like burgers cooked that well. Our server was friendly, but a little slow. i really liked the atmosphere of this restaurant,. but unfortunately, the food didn’t match the décor.
