Do you like a laid-​back yet clean and attractive bar with good food? Are you a fan of nice service? Does the presence of copious amounts of obnoxious douchebags make you want to break things?
Well, my friend, then JSP, as we regulars call it, is the spot for you.
Unlike all the other gross bars in downtown Lafayette, JSP is smoke-​free and has consistently clean bathrooms. I have never had rude service (and if you have read any of my other reviews, that will absolutely make or break a place for me). The clientele varies from 30-​something regulars, young hipsters, old Cajun dudes with no teeth, and the occasional out-​of-​towner; it’s greatly diverse.
The staff is just plain frickin’ awesome, no matter when you go. They will joke and laugh with you– good vibes all around.
Nothing on the menu is bad (I highly recommend the fried provolone, and I have to say that, as someone who lived in England for 3 years and ergo has a high standard, their shepherd’s pie is top notch). The specialty cocktails are good, although a little pricey (P.S. — best Bloody Mary in town).
Come for vinyl brunch on Saturdays; it’s not crowded, very chill, and if you ask nicely, they’ll play your request (I think they know me as the «Abbey Road» girl).
Oh, and something that most folks probably won’t care about, but I think is cool: JSP is housed in the old Guaranty Bank building, a beautiful piece of historic architecture that’s listed on the National Register… You can actually see the old vault behind the bar. High fives all the way around.

Honestly have to say one of the best bars and place to eat in Lafayette. Their burgers are to die for, thier fish tacos are awesome and their brunch is epic

Really great burgers. The burger specials are really creative. The homemade pickles are DIVINE. The fried pickles are even better. Fried cheese is great, also.
Drinks were made well. A must to visit if your on jefferson street.

Wednesday fish tacos and 2×1 Dos Equis is amazing!

We went there tonight and had a great experience! Service was good. Food was excellent. A little different than our down home country taste but great! Fried pickles were excellent with a spicy sauce. Burgers were yummy! I got the JSP well done with Gouda cheese and the spicy mayo minus the pablano peppers, but it was fab! Would def come back again!!!

First time to eat here we came in for drinks one day. Lovely place & we sat in the one bar but next to us is another bar with a live band tonight

Saw a young man and asked him if he was a chef and he said yes and then I proceeded to tell him about how I ordered the plain burger meat and bun he said he saw that and wondered why and I said because if a burger is good with meat & bun its good with everything else on it

Really good food. Drinks are a little on the pricey side. Clean place and friendly staff. Jsp burger is amazing.

Well the drinks were made well once you could get the bartenders to stop socializing and pay attention to the patrons.

Honest to goodness one of the best burgers I’ve had. You choose all the toppings and there is even an option for egg (a must) free of charge, among over a dozen other options.
Very good draft options including Guinness (also a must).
I’ll be coming back.

I thoroughly enjoy coming here. I really don’t know why more people don’t go! The food is amazing and the prices are spot on. I have to admit that the service could be worked on but it’s not terrible. Would definitely still recommend it!

This place was great! I went for vinyl brunch and got shrimp and grits. I’ve never eaten grits that had so much flavor. Also the shrimp tasted fresh. My fiancé got the eggs royale which were equally as fantastic. I got a drink and normally places water their drinks down, but this drink was STRONG. ¹⁰⁄₁₀ would eat there again.

This is a great place to just sit back, relax, watch a game and have a good bite. Great selection of beers on tap, and a full bar is a good place for everyone’s taste. The venue is clean, great atmosphere, nice staff.
Their BLT, is a great choice, and their Burger is a must… My girlfriend loves their Sheppard’s pie, which unless you’re really hungry, is good enough for two.

Jefferson Street Pub for Food:
JSP hosted a breakfast event for a local group I am a part of. They were very accommodating to our fairly large group that absolutely filled their dining area. I am not sure if they normally offer breakfast (I expect not), but they handled us very well at a very early hour for a business that I suspect does not normally operate at such an early time (7am) at that capacity (more than 25 people). They seemed to be short staffed, but they were courteous and tried to take care of us all in a timely fashion. I also got a chance to look at their lunch menu. If it is of the same quality of the breakfast we received, I am excited to check them out for lunch. Reasonable price and pretty tasty.
Jefferson Street Pub for Drinks:
Let me begin by saying that I try to judge a business on its quality and service offerings. The JSP has the best draft beer selection of any bar that I can think of at this point. Their prices are great as well. As far as the normal patrons go, if you don’t want to feel like you are in the middle of a Van Wilder movie, then the JSP isn’t the place for you to have a drink. The patrons here are pretty young. And by young, I mean goofy and wild. I still go there sometimes when I am hanging out with certain circles, but consider yourself warned. Overall, a pretty cool place. I’ll definitely be back.

Went to lunch there for the first time and got the JSP Burger and my friend had me try a cuban sandwich… Both were excellent. The burger had a tad bit too much pepper (probably premixed in the patty) for my tasting but I definitely ate it down to the last bite. Definitely add bacon and an egg on top (of course)

Today was my first time eating there for lunch. It was very cold inside. Service was nice and food came out pretty quickly. I had a fried catfish platter which was tasty.
