Great place to for all sorts of music-related stuff. I went there to check out violins for my student. Although the employee was okay, Colleen herself was great! She understood all my needs and answered any questions I had patiently. They carry all sorts of instruments and saw many people looking around. They also carry student music books in store, which is quite rare here. I usually have to order my books online for my students, but I know I can come here in a pinch.

Wonderful family run business that does it all! The quality of the rental instruments is excellent. The store is clean and well organized. If they don’t have want you want they can probably get it for you. Staff is friendly and knowledgable. What more can you ask for ! They are your friends with a music store.

Just discovered the store. Found Gary there to give my niece a Ukulele lesson. He was great with her. Also, the store is a treasure trove of anything music. Also, I am happy to support a local store.

This music store is a small locally owned business in the downtown area. It has plenty of parking! The owners are supportive of and involved in our excellent local public school music programs. There is a multiple room studio where people teach private music lessons that many local students use to supplement the lessons at school Every book my daughters have needed for school and has been available, which is great given we often need it ASAP. They also restring snapped violin strings for free if you pay the $ 4(?) to buy the string there. Really wonderful customer service. The other service that is hugely useful is they have a rent to own program. I currently pay $ 27 a month for a violin but when we build up enough money(somewhere in the $ 400 range) the entire amount that I paid in rent will be applied to the cost of violin. And if she grows(there are ½, ¾ and full size violins) the money I paid will apply to any of the 3 sizes, not just the size we are currently renting. We are renting the ¾ size but will buy the full size when she hits 5 feet, really helps out financially

We had some ukeleles and approached them to see if we could put them on consignment here. Colleen helped us. She provided us with a contract, estimate of attainable pricing, and put them up for sale right away. Each time one sold, we got a message and then a check right away. Now, all of them are sold for GOOD prices and we loved doing business with them. Another friend of ours recommended them to us and she was right: Lamorinda Music IS great!

John was very helpful and connected us with an excellent instrument. Our daughter is very excited to play her new oboe. We plan to return, most likely for another instrument.

I’ve been going to this store for over nine months – they have a great selection of musical instruments, reeds(we’ve been through dozens of those between 2 kids and a dog who finds them and likes to chew them), mouth pieces, parts, accessories – pretty much everything we need – I have 2 kids with 2 different wind instruments. They also have very reasonable prices for repairing instruments(because that stuff just happens with kids!). The owners and employees are very helpful and follow up without fail. It’s so clear that they care about music, kids, the community, and make a genuine effort. One of my kids changed instruments 3 times, and they were exceptionally helpful in getting us what we wanted at a great price. They have an excellent rent to own program – unlike other music stores that have rented to us and offered us a discount to purchase. At Lamorinda Music, every month’s rent goes to own the instrument. They do have free popcorn, coffee, tea, etc – and VERY comfortable chairs. When you’re a parent who has to sit there for an hour waiting for your kids to get out of lessons – that’s really important. They also have free wi-fi. We love this location and would not go elsewhere. My kids and I HIGHLY recommend Lamorinda Music – and after having been at 2 other places, we speak from experience.

Can’t comment on store merchandise(selection or prices) as I only know Lamorinda Music through my daughter’s weekly piano lessons. From this experience, Lamorinda Music is truly wonderful. It’s the most welcoming environment with snacks, coffee/tea, games, coloring books, and even freshly-popped popcorn. My younger daughter never gets bored waiting for my older daughter’s lesson to end. The owners are strong supporters of music programs in the local schools. This is a great family-owned business to support and patronize.

Great family store in downtown Lafayette. They really care about their customers and they have a wonderful instrument rental/rent to own program and great professional teachers for all musical disciplines(yay Drew!). There is a great lounge area for parents/caregivers to relax with free wifi and complimentary beverages and popcorn. It the era of corporate everything, it is nice to see a small local grown business thriving.

I love everything about this place! The service is outstanding and the store itself is beautiful. The owners couldn’t be more helpful and friendly, and they always go out of their way to help me find exactly what I am looking for. Can’t wait for my son to begin piano lessons there so I can visit weekly!

Better reed prices than Campagna(sp?) by a good margin, guitar strings too. The filtered review is actually kind of right about it being kind of «gifty,» not really a hardcore music store. They have tons of Luna brand guitars, for whatever reason. Nice people.
