Pros: great little shop with something for everyone, reasonable prices, original artwork Cons: cramped space(don’t bring a purse unless you want to worry about knocking something over every time you turn a corner!) I have stopped in here several times, and I feel like this is my favorite little shop in downtown Lafayette. I was here most recently on Christmas Eve. The owner is very friendly, and seems happy to chat with you about the various pieces in the store. A few times I had hoped to ask him a question, but he was so engaged in talking to other patrons that he was hard to speak with. I actually left without purchasing an item I wanted because I stood by for several minutes waiting for him to finish a conversation, and couldn’t wait any longer. However, just be assertive and get his attention if you want help with something! This place is a treasure trove of Purdue memorabilia. This is a great place to get a true Boilermaker a unique gift– especially around graduation time. You can bet I’ll be back to peruse the shop, and hopefully I’ll speak up if I want to buy something next time!

This is a pretty interesting little antique shop in downtown Lafayette. They’ve got all kinds of items for sale that are very interesting and creative. The shop is very clean and, unlike many stores of this nature, you can walk around without fear of creating a domino-effect of falling knick-knacks. I saw a really interesting German bicycle here recently — it was from the early 1970s and was made in West German, which I thought was neat. The shop owner was very knowledgeable about the bike and was able to tell me a little history on it. If you’re strolling down Main Street and are doing some shopping or have some time on your hands, Main Street Mercantile is a great place to have a look-see.

I have purchased many beautiful pieces of furniture from this store and from the warehouse that is only open on Saturday. I always get a great deal and leave very satisfied. The customer service has always been helpful(if a tad bit preoccupied with visitors) and they have a good deal of knowledge about the many oddities they sell. I recommend this place to anyone who likes antiques, Purdue memorabilia, and re-crafted oddities of the past century and a half. Great shop!

Great selection of items unfortunately had the RUDEST customer service I’ve ever received. The lady behind the counter was just down right mean, for no reason. Perhaps having a question about an unmarked item was too much for her. Or maybe it had to do with the fact we weren’t interested in one of her overpriced expensive items. But our query was met with a death stare and disrespectful attitude. I’m actually shocked out how rude this person was in the situation. I will never shop here again, nor recommend to anyone I know because of her behavior. People like that don’t deserve my hard earned money.

What a great shop. Tons of interesting furniture, lighting, accents, and random odds and ends. I bought a dresser here months ago, and just picked up a really cool table and chair. Prices are generally quite good, and they have an interesting selection of mid-century modern furniture. They also have a warehouse on 18th street(open Saturdays) that is not to be missed.

Every time I walk in I find something that I never knew I needed, and I buy it. WONDERFUL selection of items in every price range. It’s like a museum where you can buy stuff!!! Love it.

I love wandering through this place. There is sooo much unique stuff in here. I’ve found a several cool posters, pictures and things I wish I could afford. This is definitely a place worth checking out if wandering around downtown.
