Permanently closed according to their facebook page. I went there today and it was boarded up and the giant sign outside simply said closed. Too bad, our sunday tradition will need to find another location! No formal announcement anywhere that I could find.

I’m from Texas where kolaches are a mainstay in the donut world. Really awesome to find good kolaches in Lafayette. The boudin and ham and cheese shouldn’t be missed. Best donuts in town. Loved the apple fritter as well. I couldn’t believe how cheap this place was, we will be back for sure.

Meches Donut King on Rue Louis is the only 3rd generation of theoriginal Meches Donut Family. They are amazing and client/customer service driven. When people go to gas station to buy a bottle of water or soft drink how often is it not cold? Its impossible to have hot donuts for everyone who wants one when they want one. It depends on what time you go in, and if you want hot donuts call ahead and they always do what/they can for me, Also they do make extra king cakes but if its on your to do list call ahead and order it so you are not disappointed if they dont have the flavor you want, All it takes is a phone call to make all your sweet dreams come true! 337−993−1058 put it in your phone 205 Rue Louis XIV, between verot school and Kaliste Saloom Road 1÷23÷2014 Debbey Ryab

SUCHNICEPEOPLE!!! I’m a New Orleans girl, so I’m pretty picky about my King Cakes. I don’t do the Meche’s version of a King Cake, I do the more traditional Gambino’s version instead, however for anything else that’s made with donut dough, this place is a MUST-GO. Now, that’s not ONLY for the great quality of their baked goods, but for the quality of the folks behind the counter! You won’t find better customer service anywhere in the state!!! These folks are SO friendly and welcoming that you find yourself LOOKINGFORREASONS to pick up a dozen of their famous donuts, even if you don’t have an office full of friends to take them to!!! I used to live one block up, and the smells coming out of that little store on Guilbeau road was enough to make me put on 5 pounds before I ever even opened my mouth!!! LOL! You will love Meche’s as much as the locals do the moment you step in! Although they now have several locations throughout the city, I will always think of the Guilbeau Road store as «home». I regularly drive completely across town to get there, and don’t give it a second thought. When you get there, you’ll understand!!!

I can’t really add much more to the near perfect rating for Meche’s that hasn’t already been said here. What I can do is ask a few questions. Do you put crack in your amazing donuts and king cakes, Meche’s? Does my ass look fat with all of these donuts in my mouth? Why don’t you open a location closer to my home? What the eff are you guys still doing here? Why aren’t you at Meche’s yet? Go on… get over there!

The store was sparse, very clean though and the staff was very friendly. We ordered a few savory kolaches stuff with sausage and cheese which were warmed up upon order. I didnt see many sweet kolaches. The soft bread and sausage was good. The donuts looked similar to Krispy Kreme — which I was not crazy about. The glaze was sweet and chocolate frosting was not my favorite.

Bavarian cream and chocolate king cake is my absolute most decadent, guilty pleasure. I will have to exercise a lot more this week to make up for being a pig with a sweet tooth. I’m in love.

Specially ordered a «small» king cake with the Bavarian Crème and Chocolate Crème filling. To call this thing«small» is to call Bourbon Street«a little wild on mardi Gras», it’s huge and is absolutely amazing. I put the cake in my suitcase and checked the bag on the flight back to California. It was solid enough to survive the journey and my coworkers are all very thankful for the amazing treat I brought home from Lafayette. Didn’t try their donuts, but I can’t imagine they’re anything but awesome based on this King Cake.

Meche’s has the best King Cakes, they may just be a giant donut, but they are incredible. A few people I know don’t like them because they think it’s not a «traditional» King Cake. Traditional King Cakes suck, give me my Meche’s. If it’s Mardi Gras season, definitely stop by and pick one up. If you are planning on picking up a King Cake, I highly suggest you order one at least a day before(the earlier the better), as some days they don’t have any extras. I don’t generally come here any other time besides Mardi Gras season, but I have had their donuts and the kolaches and they are pretty good. The prices aren’t bad either. I’ve heard people say that the best thing about living in Lafayette is Meche’s King Cakes. I would say they were wrong, but not far off.

You have not tried donuts until you’ve eaten one of their signature dough rings of happiness or even tried their King Cake.

I came here hoping to have some King Cake. I guess they only serve it during Mardi Gras? Other than that we had some good donuts and OK coffee. Nothing fabulous.

Great donuts — I was lost while traveling through Lafayette so I hope I have the correct location. Did not know there were four in the area until I got home. These donuts are great.

I’ve only ever had their king cakes delivered so I can’t comment on the in-store service or atmosphere. Of the numerous king cakes I had this season, Meche’s was HANDSDOWN the best. More like a donut than the classic cinnamon roll type. Bavarian cream and chocolate. I ate until I could stand the sugar no more… and then had another slice.

OK so someone brought in donuts to work one day(shame on them) and I opened the box and Immediately my first thing i thought was. those are HUGEGINORMOUS donuts(they have got to be doughy in the middle… but no. and they were still hot. ugg(being as I’m not suposed to have sugar I try usually to stay far away from foods like these but I just had to try one… just one. but ugg so good. I haven’t had a donut so good since I was younger and lived in pascagoula ms and(prior to Katrina) there was this place called Erwin’s bakery. best donuts EVER… until now… soo good!!!

Tonguegasm. Other donuts are just dough and sugar. Meche serves up the melt in your mouth variety of donut. Anyone who hasn’t tasted these doesn’t get it. You have to experience it to know what all the fuss is about.
