I will never shop here again Terrible customer service, they wouldn’t give me my 11% rebate without a argument . Ordered tile said would be in within 7 days Took 2−½ weeks No one ever knows what’s going on Will go to lowes in future

Was there this morning during Black Friday and have nothing but great things to say about the employees for keeping their composure through the stress and rudeness of some customers, I do most of my shopping there and will continue, where else can you go when the store is completely packed where every employee is still smiling and answer politely with yes ma’am or no sir

I prefer Menards to other home improvement stores in Lafayette(Lowe’s or Home Depot). Their employees are more helpful, their prices are better, and they carry more moderate options. Lowe’s and Home Depot seem to stock more designer and custom items, which are beautiful, but not always the right choice for the average homeowner. We shop almost exclusively at Menards for our house and yard projects. The have sales pretty regularly and you can save quite a bit with their rebates.

This Menards is literally right across the road from where I work. It’s so easy to rush in to get light bulbs or mouse traps or even a gallon of milk. Menards does tend to carry low-end items to keep prices low. I hate their paint, for instance. I bet I go here every week, sometimes twice a week.

This is like a dream Home Depot and Lowes into one store! Great sales and quality stuff. Costs more than Lowes but better quality.

A customer service disaster tale: I had to come here from the other store that is about 9 miles away in West Lafayette(with loads of urban traffic in between — around 30 minutes to drive) to rent a truck because they needed an insurance card. There were 3 employees working at the customer service desk, only one of which was helping the 1 customer in front of me. I told the young woman at the counter that I was in a big hurry(30 minutes left to get to a furniture store about 5 minutes down the road) and I would appreciate anything she could do to expedite my rental. [Blank stare] «We need to get the odometer reading first.» 5 minutes go by. The employee then finally gets the help of another employee and proceeds to show her how to enter the agreement. The second employee had never entered an order like this(oh great, this should be fun, I thought). I reminded this employee that I now have about 20 minutes to get to my destination 5 minutes away and I would appreciate it if she could expedite my rental. [another blank stare while she painfully hunts and pecks my information into the keyboard]. Finally I have the keys to the truck with 4 minutes remaining… Guess what, I didn’t make it to the furniture store on time. CLOSED. I go back to Menard’s and ask to speak to a manager after the customer service employee said she could not give me a refund. I explain the situation to the STOREMANAGER who returned the truck rental in the computer and then refused to give me a refund. I told him his employee was incompetent and he asked me not to «insult» his employees. Incompetency is not an insult, it is a characterization that one cannot function in their position. This guy could have made me a happy, future customer if he had simply apologized and even just offered a store credit for the measly $ 28 rental charge. Instead he let me walk out of there, cursing them under my breath and telling him that I would never shop there again and that I would tell my friends and family to do the same. Menard’s may have low prices, but as they say… you get what you pay for. Please avoid this store at all costs.

Almost anything you need for home repair and construction, plus grills, mattresses, and food. I’m not saying every product is perfect, but if you can’t get it done with what they’ve got… you don’t need to working on it.

Don’t get me wrong Menards is OK, but there are a few things that keep me from going there except when I really need to. Lowes, Home Depot and Menards all have this weird thing about have separate entrances and exits, I suppose it has something to do with deterring theft, but Menards takes it a step further by making you go through these dumb turnstiles, completely breaking up the inside of the store and making the entrance and exit very far from each other. They also make returns a bit more difficult and rebates are forms you need to fill out and get a check for store credit mailed to you. What decade are we living in? Just give me a percent off.

I am a big fan of Menards. The thing that makes them shine is their employees. They have a large number of people who have been there for years which tells you they must be a pretty good outfit to work for. BUT these employees have a LOT of product knowledge and that is what makes the difference for me between Menards and the other giant hardware stores. They actually KNOW what the stuff they sell does and how to install it, what other options might be out there and so on. Their construction department is helpful and can arrange deliver of big loads at a reasonable price. I really like the paint, plumbing, hardware, flooring and electric folks. In hardware they can make keys for about a buck apiece, and they can re-key locks. Very helpful. They have a great selection of pre-built cabinets, and can help you design out a kitchen in a jiffy and get it ordered. I like the Schrock cabinets for the best combination of quality and price. Watch for the sales and you can save a lot. I like it that Menards has been so out-front with CFL light bulbs, low watt flourescent fixtures and the newer LED light bulb alternatives. They have a great display that lets you see the difference in color temperature and brightmess between all of the CFL bulbs. Nice! Menards has an excellent setup for rebate coupons. They are all located near the exit and you just look on the bottom of your receipt and pick the coupons you need off the display. All the stores have pretty much the same stuff. Only Menards has the great people.

Menards has the same stuff that the other box stores have. It is a typical home improvement store. Except for the fact that the employees here actually know what they are talking about on a particular topic. Other stores seem to hire people just to fill a spot. The employees here seem to be fit to the area that they work. It’s rather refreshing to walk in someplace and talk to someone that can help, instead of someone that you have to help.
