What a disappointment! My son couldn’t wait to take us to this restaurant after he had such a great experience a month earlier. The restaurant was busy but no excuse for this New Orleans gal. First issue, one of the members of our group got gum all over her pants from a previous patron. It was stuck under the table. We had no silverware or napkins on the table to clean it up. We had been sitting at the table for more than 10 mins. my son grabbed a bar napkin from under my drink and spilled it on the table. Waiter no where to be found. Had to wave him down to get napkins and a rag to clean up the table. After we we waited for a long period of time he returned with one napkin and one dish rag. Disappeared again. Had to get another server to bring us more napkins to finish the cleanup and silverware for our appetizer. When entrees finally arrived 3 meals were cold, one was warm. Had to wave our waiter down to inform him. He said he’d talk to the kitchen and get his manager rather than offering to try and get it fixed. We waited 20 mins. No manager. I could not eat my meal — the tuna steak I ordered was not only cold but undercooked in the center. We asked for a manger a second time. Waiter said he would try and find him again. Disappeared again. We had to wave him down and ask for our check. Ck arrived, we paid for every thing even the uneaten meal. As we were leaving, manager stopped us. We told him about the poor service and the problem with the meals. He apologized and said he would reprimand the waiter. Really??? That’s it? By the way — this is the first time I have taken to Unilocal to plug in a review. Very disappointing– there are many other Cajun restaurants in the Lafayette area you should try.

This place is my absolute favorite cajun restaurant. Their menu has anything a true southerner would want; shrimp and grits, cochon du lati pie, oyster saxaphone, alligator, cajun duckling, and so much more. Their menu is a little pricey, but the food is good. My only complaint is that they seem to have dumbed down the cajun flavor for the tourists that come in. I ordered the blackened catfish with étouffée; it had all the right components but lacked the punch in the palate you would normally get from blackened seafood. They play live cajun music, but unfortuanately do not have a dance floor(not that I know how to cajun dance). They also have a small gift shop if you are looking to buy tshirts or koozies. They also sell a cook book of southern recipes that includes a few house favorites that they serve. Our server, Harley, was on point and smiled the whole time. A+ visit!

This is a fine place for people who like to eat large portions of consistently decent Cajun food, but true foodies be warned: this is not a place for you. The shrimp and crawfish are definitely very fresh, and competently cooked, but things are uncomfortably heavy on the salt(like make your ankles swell later levels), so heavy on the roux and/or flour thickening that the chicken and sausage gumbo, crawfish étouffée, and crawfish bisque all feel like gravy in the mouth. Again, not horrible, very competent, but no beauty of flavor to be found here, and the prices are pretty high.

I was recommended here by one of the locals(Lafayettians?) because I wanted a taste of good Cajun food. Love the Louisiana atmosphere! The biscuits were really delicious. I ordered the seafood platter because I wanted a variety of things to eat. It was pretty good but I felt I should have had it grilled rather then fried because I felt it lost a lot of taste of the meat I was trying. It was still really tasty. Also ordered their seafood gumbo soup because I needed to try authentic gumbo. Wow, spicy but very delicious! They also had a nice little band playing so it added to the atmosphere. It was kind of pricey for me but I did enjoy my meal and experience.

I was pretty impressed with this place. Good live zydeco music and the feeling wasn’t too touristy. I had the fried alligator(the cocktail sauce had a bite as well) and it was delish! It came with a baked potato and some type of corn dish. They were both yummy. The beer was good and cold although I don’t think alcohol was listed on the menu. I asked if they had beer and the waiter offered me a beer list so I assume they have a nice selection. I just opted for good ol Bud Light so no list needed. I ordered the bread pudding with Jack Daniels sauce and I highly recommend it! It was crazy delicious.

Had not been to Prejean’s for at least 15 years. We had a family gathering there. One of my guest order the shrimp and noodles. Once he started eating he told the waitress that the shrimp was not cooked. He was so upset that he could not order something else. She apologized but it was not her fault, It was the cooks fault. I thing they did take it off the bill. After that, none of the food tasted very good. We were all disappointed and will have trouble going back.

A terrific place, very large and open, with delicious food and great service. Morgan was very helpful and we appreciated it. The music was outstanding last night. Try the eggplant, and of course the cajun fishes.

I came here with a group last week for lunch as a stop on the way back to Atlanta from Houston. It’s a seafood restaurant. It is off the highway. Cozy and warm atmosphere. Very rustic. Perfect for a casual date night or informal family gathering. The menu was clear and had plenty to offer. I have tried a variety of items. Fried green tomatoes for appetizer was pretty good and very crispy. I had corn and crabmeat soup with Caesar salad– excellent. The soup was delicious beyond descriptions. I got the bowl(they have cup and bowl size) and it is huge serving for one person. My husband got catfish fillet. It was pretty good. Another got seafood platter which was excellent and cooked to perfection. Overall I loved the food. Everything was well cooked, great portions, reasonable prices for seafood restaurant. Thumbs up. The onnnnly downside: The server we had was not that friendly. But I don’t care about her much as long as my food was excellent and came at reasonable time.

After a long day exploring Avery Island we were starving and decided to try Prejean’s. I hadn’t eaten here since I was a child and I was curious to see if it was as good as my girl-hood memory recalled. We were so glad we stopped by. The food is on the pricy side but it is delicious. We started with a crawfish enchilada for an appetizer it was phenomenal. I enjoyed every last bite. The complimentary cheesy bread was also very good. The cheese was toasted nicely on top and it was warm and flaky. The seafood gumbo was also a hit. It was full of flavor and didn’t disappoint. For the main entrée we ordered the grilled seafood platter to share after the waitress recommended this to be a huge dish to share. It was very small for 30 dollars. It consisted of 2 shrimp, 2 frog legs, 2 stuffed crabs, 2 pieces of fish and so forth. Next time we are in the area I would definitely be inclined to come back and dine here however I will not order a 30 dollar tiny platter. The food is very good just the plate is very small. Overall though the Cajun food is tres bien ma chere!

Dexter our waiter was amazing, he recommended great dishes. We had the lunch special seafood enchiladas and they were fabulous. A cup of seafood gumbo was the best I have ever eaten. White Chocolate bread pudding was the bomb. I will eat jets every time I come through Lafayette. So worth the 2 mile trek off I-10.

First time ever and enjoyed it all. The live music really sets the atmosphere for the type restaurant. We joined up with some friends that drove in from Florida and they loved it. Chicken and sausage gumbo was tasty and my kids enjoyed their fried shrimp. I had the fried catfish with crab meat topping and it was delicious. My wife ordered a little something out of her ballpark taste and didn’t particularly care for it and they took it right of the bill(not to say it wasn’t good, just not what she thought it was). Big kudos for our server! At the end of service, he noticed I pulled out my tobacco can. When he came back with our bill, he had a Styrofoam cup with a paper-towel stuffed in it for my «spit cup»!! That may sound a little awkward to some but i thought it was awesome that he was thinking about my ride home!

After two separate trips to Prejeans, I had to write about this place. First time around my wife and I were blown away by the buiscuts. There is a hint of cheese mixed into the dough and some spice that mixed with some melted butter really set the tone for what’s to come. We split the shrimp etouffe, crabcake, and chicken and sausage gumbo. All of them were simply amazing, a joy of spicy ricy perfection. I stopped by again to enjoy the biscuits and selfishly take on the gold medal crawfish etouffe solo. It did not disappoint. I left stuffed in a very satisfied, jovial mess. Fond memories of sauce on buttered biscuit, disciplined as I was to save one for the main course, carried with me on the long drive back to Houston. I also remembered to take home some frozen chicken and sausage gumbo and crawfish bisque so my wife could enjoy what I had the pleasure of tasting last night. This place is Cajun at its finest. Definitely worth stopping by.

Mmmm, so good. Good is not even the word to describe it. Phenomenal, amazing and mouthwatering would be more appropriate adjectives! LEGIT. This is real cajun food and I could not have been happier that Unilocal led me to it. SWAMPY. The décor is gorgeous, like eating in a swamp. They have fake bald cypress tree trunks throughout the restaurant, it’s dark and at the same time, cozy. NOWLETSGETTOIT. The boudin balls and the grilled seafood platter were to die for. I loved alligator, prepared so well. The catfish and stuffed crab were amazing. Oysters were fresh. I want to try the crawfish platter next time. If there was a Michelin star rating for non $$$$ restaurants, this would have been three stars. Without a question worth taking a detour on your journey to come here. And if you are a local in Lafayette, damn you are missing out.

Among your Bucket List restaurants, Prejean’s deserves a high ranking. The food is truly authentic and amazing. This is no French Quarter, trying-too-hard, Big Mamou kind of place. This is a slice of heaven on the border of Lafayette & Carencro. I have stopped here so many times, I cannot count. They offer a refreshingly unique breakfast menu, so if you are on the early side of the day, fear not. They also offer daily lunch specials. You should check these out before making up your mind. The Crawfish Enchiladas are so unique that you may find yourself stopping just for them. On weekend nights, they have live Cajun music in the dining room. This most recent visit was a quickee lunch stop. I ordered the Shrimp Gumbo, for a change, and the Sassafras Shrimp appetizer. The Sassafras Shrimp is shrimp stuffed with tasso & cheese, battered & fried. I believe the accompanying sauce is the Crawfish Cardinale. That alone is heaven. The Shrimp Gumbo is not my usual choice. It has a nice, dark roux, but it is not too thick. They always serve the rice on the side. I was thoroughly impressed with the gumbo’s flavor… gently spicy and full. Our family favorites are the Corn & Crab Bisque and the Duck & Andouille Gumbo… though I have to say I just adore the Crawfish Bisque. All their gumbos are available frozen(to-go). Get a cooler if you are on a road trip, and plan for the inevitable. The gift shop area also has plenty of locally-inspired stuff, and some great Zydeco & Louisiana music CDs. I must recommend their cookbook. Not all the recipes are in there, but it is a wonderful resource. I know they also offer shaded kennels for pets traveling with you, but I have no idea how that works. So, the next time you are driving through Lafayette, let your car steer you to Gloria Switch Road(Exit 2) on I-49. Your tummy will thank you.

The last time I was here they had a live camera on the restaurant & friends could watch you coming in. This place has great atmosphere and you talk about all the décor while waiting for your scrumptious food to arrive. Went with a large group & we all ordered all kinds of interesting dishes and shared. Tasted the crocodile for the first time in my life… had such a small piece that I really couldn’t tell how it tasted — think it tastes like chicken. Someone ordered frog legs, said it tasted like chicken. I had shrimp étouffée with fries & it was wonderful! Ended up with food to go and the next day it was still yummy! Love stopping here whenever I’m in the region — great restaurant with very interesting decorations!

Food and service both AMAZING! Classic Cajun food with orgasmic flavor. We had the fried Boudin balls and shrimp gumbo as a appetizer. They’re gumbo is the absolute best we’ve ever had. For entrée, we had the fried alligator with a side of crawfish étouffée(amazing) and crawfish enchiladas(a little too cheesy for my liking but still delicious). If I could give this place additional stars I would… We were traveling with our dog and they have kennels outside the facility and provide you with a lock for your fur baby! How awesome is that?! It’s very hard to find a dog-friendly restaurant in Lafayette. Our server was attentive and very nice, best service we’ve had in a while. Definitely going to come back on our next road trip.

Given the price and quality of food, this is a no go. You do not get what you paid for. I got the crab cake($ 10) and sirloin($ 20) and they were not bad. But they were definitely not worth the price tag. The service was good. The staff were friendly and checked on our table regularly. No issues in service. But the food quality was just so poor combined with the price tag, that my expectations were not met. Refer to my pictures for visual confirmation. The crab cake was pan grilled. It tasted like a crab cake no doubt and the sauce was tasty(despite its presentation). However, the texture was very mushy. It resembled more of a circular disk of mashed potatoes or creamed corn. The outer breading of the crab cake showed some signs of pan searing, which should give it a slight crunch or semi hard outer layer. However, it was mushy all throughout the cake. The 8oz sirloin came with a baked potato and seasonal veggies. This was the most disappointing. I ordered medium and as seen in the photo, it was well done. No big deal. I’ll eat it without a problem. However, the meat quality was average and poorly cooked. It was overcooked and dry. No juices or tenderness to the meat. Nothing wrong with the baked potato. The veggies were simply steamed. No seasoning. Nothing. It was straight steamed veggies. I know they were steamed or boiled because half my plate was drenched in a pool of water. Not even salt or pepper on the veggies. Maybe this place is known for a specific dish I didn’t get. My co worker got the Prejean’s Seafood Alfredo($ 20) and was not impressed with the seafood, which consisted of crawfish, shrimp, and crab meat. If you’re craving a good steak, you’re better off going to Outback or Longhorn. If you want fresh seafood, I would also consider other local options in the area. I’m not sure what those are because I’m not from the area, but you surely do not get what you pay for here. For the same prices paid here, you can get way better steak and seafood I’m sure.

Food was good. We shared 2 platters, several sides, several gumbos, bisque, salad & peanut butter dessert. I think overall the service by Scott was friendly. Except waters were not automatically refilled & you had to ask for everything.
