Pretty cool! They COVER their tea while it steeps… a small detail that really adds to the experience. Nice ambiance(open yet still cozy) and very friendly and helpful staff as well. 10⁄10 would drink properly steeped tea again.

I love a good hipster-y coffee shop, and this certainly fits the bill. The atmosphere is far more inviting than this sounds, though. Coffees– four different coffees on brew each day, each have their origins, tasting notes, and roast type listed. I got a latte with almond milk(the Barista Series, so it froths), honey, and a lot of cinnamon. It was delicious. The Wifi is good, and it’s a decent place to do some work as well.

Amazing Coffee. We like the roasts even better than staples like Stumptown, Goerge Howell or the NYC«third wave» brews we’ve tried so far.

We had an almond milk and a whole milk latte and they both were delicious!!! Busy place but the baristas did a good job keeping up with the line while still making quality drinks.

Kind of hidden and off the main road, but worth the search. Fantastic coffee — we ordered a latte and an americano, both decaf. If a coffee place has delicious decaf, you know it’s a legit spot. Baristas were very friendly and the place has plenty of seating. I just wish they had had some more pastries when we were in. Anyway, I’ll definitely be returning, and soon!

This place is either no longer in business or the address that is listed is old. I don’t know if they moved or not but as of 10/22/2015 this location isn’t open.

Coffee– 5 Service– 5 Atmosphere– 5. Killer Chem-X of Guatemalan beans. It was very rich and creamy just as they described. It only cost $ 3.50ish so it was a great deal for my wife and I to share 16 oz. It was a little confusing to find since the sign was out front of the building but the store is around back. Proper grounds is like a hip coffee shop trapped in a small boring community. We were passing through and it was worth a stop to take a breather and read a little while inside since the had plenty of seating.

Possibly my favorite coffee shop in this area(Louisville/Lafayette). Nice employees, a decent coffee menu and some affordable items. I usually get the house special, which is a mix between a cortado and a cubano with turbinado sugar. It’s basically a shot of espresso with steamed half and half that’s sweetened. I really enjoy it. They have a water dispenser out on a table, bathrooms available and a couple of outdoor tables. Wish the bike rack was on their side of the building, but it’s not too far. It’s a hidden place, so if it’s your first time here, go all the way around to the back of the building.

A little slice of Seattle. Hipsters included. Coffee was simply superb and better than anything I’ve had in Seattle. Pastry was fresh fresh fresh. Authentic buttery croissant. Wish he’d open a store in Boulder, but the place is full so he’s doing just fine. Full menu of boutique espresso drinks. Spot on. Not a single complaint. 5-stars.

I’m giving it three stars because I think the barista who was pulling shots was a rookie(based on some observation of the interaction with him and the guy who rang us up). Espresso was BURNT! Yuck! Disgusting! Is there a place in Colorado that actually has good espresso? Somebody let me know! The pumpkin loaf was tasty for breakfast(and the only way I could choke down the espresso)

«A YAWNIS A SILENTSCREAMFORCOFFEE» This is a poster just inside the kitchen. Very quaint little place with a large variety of uniquely prepared and flavored coffees. They are a coffee shop sensitive to food allergy/preferences. I am currently on a no gluten and natural sugar diet. I was able to easily find a coffee option called the«Hope Special» which is a semi strong iced coffee spiced with cinnamon, sweetened with honey and given a creamy feeling with almond milk. They had amazimg looking pastries which I couldn’t have but they did have gluten free breakfast burritos. They didn’t look very appealing at first but the flavor was good. Funny that country music was playing in the background because it didn’t have that feel inside. I gave them a four stars and not five because of the gluten free vegan options. While I appreciate the attention to gluten free vegan options there isn’t anything offered in the middle. Plus the taste of the burrito was not great. I love meat and many gluten free places often don’t offer real meat with gluten free options it is strictly beans. It would be nice to have a meat gluten free option. However, I do believe their breakfast burritos are brought in from somewhere else.

Wow the coffee here is fantastic! I visited yesterday before the Lafayette Peach Festival. I had the Hope Special which was super delicious and I highly recommend. The staff was friendly and I enjoyed the rustic ambiance. The shop is located on the East side of the building in a little strip mall on the far South Side of Public Road. I wished the location was a little more convenient, perhaps more on the main road, but the coffee made it worth the trip.

This coffee place is out of this world! Why does it have to be way up in Lafayette!!! I stopped in for a quick morning break and ordered the special which was $ 8, but really it’s a perfectly made coffee with almond milk and cinnamon and other good stuff so who really cares? There were a few food options, but an excellent work café. Free wifi, huge tables, music isn’t blasting my ears off, and lots of natural light. I would come here everyday if it wasn’t 30 miles from me.

First thing I was greeted by when I stepped into proper grounds was a smiling cashier(donning a stylish man-bun) greeting me at the counter, while local art and beautiful natural lighting surrounded me. Proper grounds is the epitome of cool aesthetic from the minimalist flare to its hipster dressed employees. I was a happy camper, plopping down to a fragrant cup of coffee and a relaxing book here. My latte seemed like a work of art. I’ve seen the decorative swirls of bears or hearts, but proper grounds gives an extra special touch with jaw dropping unicorns or swan foam art amidst their caffeinated beverages. The taste was sublime as well. You could tell it was not your regular cup of joe. My father is a straight, no funny business kind of guy with his black coffee standard order, and even this hard to please man let a compliment slip out or two about proper grounds’ personal blend. All in all, thoroughly impressed with the experience… Will return again if I ever get the chance!

My favorite coffee shoppe in Lafayette(and really, in all of Colorado!). My husband and I walk over for a cup of coffee almost every Saturday and Sunday morning and are always greeted with friendly, quick service. The varieties of coffee are each delicious(we buy the House blend to make at home), but my go-to is an Almond Milk Latte).

Picked up a bag of Proper Grounds House blend, whole bean. After grinding, the smell was so good I could have just smelled the grounds instead of making a cup of coffee. The coffee was smooth and delicious, not too much acidity for me, and a great flavor profile. Will be getting all my coffee from this local roaster.

A hidden gem in Lafayette– good luck finding it(it’s certainly worth the effort) — tucked in behind Morrells printing… Yes, BEHIND! High marks on the fact that they roast their coffees in-house, one small batch at a time, for the freshest, most flavorful cup of Joe! Great place to meet or just hang — free wi-fi is a plus.

This is a tricky place to find. It’s in the Morrell Printing building on the backside, but all the signage is on the front. Once inside, the café is adorable — industrial themed with exposed metal and wood. Coffees were delicious. I had a Nicaragua with steamed milk. The coffee was very fresh despite being in one of those pump yourself carafes. I felt like $ 2.30 for a 12oz café au lait was a little high, but they roast their own coffee so it makes sense. What disappointed me was service. I get it; I’m not a local and I’m dressed like a soccer mom. No excuse for the baristas(who looked like backup artists for the John Butler Trio — and that’s NOT a bad thing!!!) to brush me off while doting over the Boulder yuppies and their half dozen spawn. I was interested in learning about their coffees but felt like they wanted me out of there quick while answering every question the spawn pack about if the soy milk was fair trade organic. So, good product, just kind of an unfriendly vibe.

Super cute café! Super friendly Baristas. And Super good coffee! The best thing is it is about 7 minutes from home. Bliss Bliss! one of coffee snob friends introduced me to this place and it’s one of her favorite spots for coffee. I absolutely love the place for a morning work from coffee shop routine and also just to hang out with friends!
