Red Barn winery is a little off the beaten path(not as conveniently located off the freeway), but it is well worth the trip! I am absolutely in love with the meticulousness of owner Judy’s knowledge of her grapes, which she grows completely on site. In fact, Northfield winery(also among the Upper Cumberland Wine Trail) gets its Seyval grapes from Red Barn’s Seyval Blanc. I absolutely love the Seyval Blanc. It’s wonderfully dry, but has a well-rounded flavor. My second favorite is the Dungeon Red, which is a full-bodied red that you’ll love if you love the smooth taste of Malbec. The winery store is actually made from an old tobacco farm, which you might get subtle hints of smoky, woody flavor while sipping the full-bodied wines. It has a gorgeous rustic quality that lends to its long-lived charm.
