I visit on a regular basis. The food is super. I enjoy their soups and the duck is awesome. If you are watching your wallet go during lunch. You get soup, egg roll, and entre’ for about $ 5 less then supper(supper does not include soup and egg roll). The wait staff is usually friendly and attentive. Definitely will be going back.

I live in the neighborhood, so I’m here often. Always delicious, fresh, fast, and friendly. My go to is cashew chicken and/or chicken fried rice. Any of the beef dishes that I have had were excellent, too… I just prefer their chicken. Being allergic to fish, I can’t help anyone with an opinion on those dishes. I love that I can order takeout in their final hour of being open and the food is still flawlessly fresh.

Though the atmosphere lacks the cozy and down home service it used to have before their expansion and remodel, this is still a consistently good Chinese restaurant with a variety of well prepared dishes. We stop by for lunch or dinner every time we are in the area.

Were just in for dinner tonight(April 23, 2015). The food was okay. However we just experienced the worst service EVER. When we went in there were maybe 5 or 6 tables with customers. Were greeted right away and got drinks and apps pretty quick. Our meals took a while considering how empty it was. After we got our meals our service stopped. In fact, the 2 servers sat down at another table with some costumers and proceeded to have a lengthy conversation about travel. We sat there waiting for boxes. Waiting for our check. All while our 1 year old was slowly losing it. Finally got a couple of boxes but not the other things needed to take our leftovers home. No dirty plates were cleared. It took forever for our payment to be picked up. Again, all the while our daughter was on a downward spiral. But hey, the staff were busy making travel plans. We’re new to the area and really wanted to love this place. I guess our search for our new Chinese go-to restaurant will have to continue. SODISAPPOINTED!!!

Ting’s Place serves up Seafood, Szechuan and Chinese. I have been eating at Ting’s for many years now and they have never disappointed. They closed for a few years before moving to their current location, which in my opinion was an upgrade. The staff is very polite and quick to serve. They run a clean establishment and also have a patio. Ting’s Seafood is fresh tasting, I generally stick to their Shrimp, but I have also enjoyed their beef and chicken. They have a delicious garlic sauce which pairs well will shrimp or chicken and their sweet and sour of any type is also something to try. The combination noodle soup has grown to be a big occasional craving for me. The noodles are softly cooked, fried along with shrimp, chicken and beef, then placed in a bowl with the most savory Chinese broth you could imagine. The lunch serving is very large and is ALWAYS made on order, which means that it has to cool down when it arrives(cold food is one of my biggest pet peeves). Enjoy!

There are about five vegetarian entrees on the menu and that’s it. The food is bland, typical cheap American-Chinese restaurant fare. The service was good, at least.

Incredibly disappointing. We got there early, around 5:15, on Sunday evening. We perused the menu and settled on the family plate, $ 12.95 a person for a course the included, for each person, an entrée, a bowl of soup, and one each of an egg roll, crab cheese wonton and a BBQ rib. All of the above were awful. Let’s start with the appetizers. The rib tasted like it had been sitting around for hours after it had been cooked; there was nothing fresh about it. The egg roll, too, tasted like it had taken a bike ride up Boulder Canyon and down again before being served. The crab cheese wonton, I thought, would be the savior — how could any place screw this up? Somehow, Tings did. Instead of the usual shape for a wonton that you see in 95% percent of Chinese restaurants, which sort of resemble those fortune tellers little kids fold out of paper, this one had more of a hand-folded ravioli shape to it. Nothing wrong with that. But my wonton had absolutely zero cheese in it, meaning it was just a crunchy, deep fried hunk of empty calories without any redeeming flavors in it. It was disgusting. The soup was soup. My hot and sour tasted pretty good. Nothing to differentiate it from the hot and sour soup found at literally every other cheap Chinese place in the county. At least they got something right. Now, the entrees. My grandmother ordered the moo goo pork, which was a touch salty but tasted alright. I ordered sweet and sour chicken, which was deep fried but didn’t taste fresh at all. The sauce was corn syrup-heavy and overall forgettable. The only thing stopping this from being a one-star review was the fact that our server was a superhero. She was the only server working the entire restaurant — which, amazingly, filled up to capacity as the night progressed — and she was literally running from table to table, working with admirable efficiency to make sure everyone got appropriate service. To be honest, I was impressed with her ability to manage 30 tables at once. All things considered, service was pretty good. Avoid the food here. If a restaurant can’t make decent food at 5:30 Sunday evening, I’d imagine it can’t make decent food any other time of the week.

Ting’s Place to-go is just what the doctor ordered. I grabbed the scallop and broccoli dish with hot and sour soup. Ting’s hot and sour soup is currently one of my top three. They do a nice job of really blending the flavors together. Would have given them five stars but they forgot to put the hot mustard and soy sauce in the bag.

When we arrived, there was only 2 other tables being served and the staff was very friendly. As we waited and watched all the rest of the tables in the place fill up, yes, every table filled within 20 – 30 min of us arriving, and watched a majority of those table get there food before us, we wondered if maybe it was because we had 6 people and the other tables had 2 – 4. When we finally got our food, it was big portion sized but we were not totally impressed with the food. We wished the menus came with descriptions as my other half doesn’t eat mushrooms and his food was about 60% mushrooms. The ribs were not very good as they barely had meat on them and were very dry and tough. The soups though were awesome! Very very good! The wait staff didn’t come back to our table until quite a while after everyone was done eating. We realize that they were busy but no one came to see if we needed another drink, dessert or to even ask us quickly how the food was. They did apologize on our way out though so I give them credit for that. It was quite expensive for our large family. For the amount of money, we were expecting better. We will not be going back…

This is a nice little place with a helpful and attentive staff. My date and I had a special for 2 that included ribs, coconut shrimp, egg rolls and corn soup as the appetizers. Everything was good except the ribs, they were dry and tough as though they were previously cooked and warmed in a microwave. For the main entrées we had teriyaki beef and sweet and sour combo. The teriyaki beef was nasty with a kind of foul taste to it. The sweet and sour combo was good and the fried rice was tasty. The service was good and the place is clean but I wouldn’t go back there are better places around if you want to drive a bit.

I ate at the old Tings for about 25 years or so, I can;t remember how long, but they Tings have been and remain the very best Chinese Food I have ever eaten anywhere. The new place is better than the old place in that the furniture in the new place is much more comfortable and the help is young, fresh and eager to please. Thanks for coming back, I thought you’d never reopen!

This review is all relative. Is it the best Chinese food I’ve ever had? No, BUT, for Colorado? It is pretty darn satisfying and authentic. If you’re a fan of sesame/lemon chicken or sweet and sour pork, this review is not for you because those dishes are not Chinese food. They are Chinese like Taco Bell is Mexican. Caveat: my parents are from Taiwan and I grew up in S. California, so I’m used to being able to go to specific types of Chinese restaurants, i.e. Northern Chinese, Hunan, Taiwanese, Muslim, etc. So it makes me really sad that many of the restaurant options for Chinese here are«fusion»(which are not fusion, but really a grab-bag/chop suey mix) and serve Japanese, Thai and Chinese or geared toward American palates. Anyway, I was pleased to see Shanghai Soup Dumplings(Shiao Long Bao) on the menu! The dumpling skins were just the right thickness, not too doughy or thick, still delicate. When you take a bite, there’s just the right amount of soup that explodes in your mouth and then the savory meat filling follows. Potstickers were satisfying as well, though more heavy. I would’ve liked more veg in the filling. Their spicy garlic eggplant(yu shang chie zi – sorry, my pinyin stinks) was DIVINE. Also had Three Cups Chicken(san bei ji), jalapeño beef and string beans(suh ji doh) which were all fabulous. Their noodles were fine, but not my fave(the combination one was more of a crispy type noodle and had tons of meat/veg on it – I actually like having a heavier noodle ratio). And I prefer Chow Fun, which they don’t have. The ambience was great(for a casual dining experience) and the interior finishings are modern, fresh and clean. Service was earnest and cheerful. If you want to have real Chinese food, don’t ask for what’s popular, ask for what Chinese people order. Or say that you don’t want Americanized Chinese dishes. I will definitely be back!

Ting’s Place at their old location was one of my all-time favorite Chinese restaurants. You used to be able to get really great food there at very affordable prices, and the atmosphere of the place was nice, too. I used to eat lunch there all the time and could get a plate of food for around $ 6(not including tip, tax, and drinks). It was a lot of food, and it was really good food. I would have expected to pay a lot more for it somewhere else. Then they closed, much to my chagrin. For a few years they kept saying they would reopen soon, and I was really looking forward to it. They finally opened their new location a few months ago. I ate there three times and was disappointed each time. I gave them three chances because I loved the old restaurant so much, but I don’t think I’ll be returning. It seems like the meat they use is lower quality than it used to be, and the rest of the food isn’t great either. It doesn’t feel fresh or flavorful at all. The ambiance leaves much to be desired as well, as they use a lot of fluorescent lighting, of which I am not a fan. I’m not sure what happened, but this is not the Ting’s Place of old, and better Chinese food can be found nearby.

While I can’t comment on whether or not this place lives up to the old Ting’s but, I was impressed in a recent night out with friends. The Family Dinner option, which the hubby and I opted for, is a great deal for either $ 12.95 or $ 13.95/person, depending on which you choose. It comes with 3 appetizers(one piece of each/person), soup, pork fried rice and choice of a number of different entrees. The meal started a little slow with the appetizers– alright egg roll, overly doughy rangoon and a dry rib, though I did like that they have lots of sauce options– hot mustard, sweet and sour and soy sauce all live on the table. However, the soup and dinners that followed more than made up for the appetizer’s flaws. Our sizzling rice soup was sizzled table side and came in a giant bowl laden with soft chicken, beautiful shrimp and fresh veggies. The sesame beef was delicate and crispy and best of all, not too sweet. The tea smoked duck was also done really wonderfully and had a lot of smoke flavor while still being moist. The pork fried rice had all the goodies you’d expect. As a added bonus(if you can even think about eating any more at the end of your meal), there was strawberry ice cream that came with our fortune cookies. I wish I had gotten the appetizer our friends had– I love Shanghai dumplings(little soup filled morsels) and Ting’s is one of the few places I’ve found them here. For entrees, their shredded pork had lots of julienned veggies and their scallops came out looking lovely on a hot platter(though they requested and received Sriracha for a bit more fire). Be aware that fried rice and pork fried rice are apparently different– their rice came without the hunks of BBQ pork, peas and carrots that our pork fried version did. Our server was also a highlight of the meal. She was friendly and funny and seemed really knowledgeable. She made me want to eat there more often. Bottom line: the service was great, most of the food was wonderful and there were good flavors. It was affordable and the ribs and rangoon were really the only let down of the meal. I will eat here again for sure

So I’ve waited for years for Ting’s Place to open up again in their new location. Since then I’ve moved and had to find new places to satisfy my Chinese food fix. Even though I’ve got been able to get by, I still make a point to stop by when in Lafayette to have my favorite dish and soup. Those who are looking for a PF Chang’s experience won’t find it here. As it was before, this place is a family business and not a corporate chain, which I like to support. While you can find many of the popular dishes that are in any Chinese restraint, Ting’s Place has it’s own flavors which are unique. Not the same sauce just used indifferent foods like some places. My favorite is the Tofu Family Style and the wife loves the Fried Calamari and then goes between the Spicy and Tangy Chicken and the Salt and Pepper Prawn-Can’t go wrong with either of them! The servers and staff are usually the same and tend to remember you and your orders after a few visits which is always nice. One thing that they don’t have set-up yet and which I asked about was their full bar/lounge. They stated that they do have their wines available as well as Sake, but that they are still doing adjustments on the bar equipment and wanted everything set before they started the full bar. The lounge does look nice and has TV’s which will be good for after work drinks, and appetizers. That’s one of the few things that I enjoyed about PF Chang’s…the great drinks and quick bites.
