Love this store! I have never been in a cleaner liquor store and the set up is great. The gentlemen that work here are the nicest folks and so helpful. Excellent selection and just good old Texas manners. Great place!

Friendly and liquor store doesn’t always go together. ;) But I really enjoy going into North Shore Liquors. The guys there are nice and pretty cool too.

North Shore Liquors is a friendly neighborhood liquor store located next to the relatively new Super S at 1431 and Lohmans Ford Rd in quaint little Lago Vista. I’m not sure exactly when it opened, but I’m assuming it wasn’t too long after the grocery store opened, so it should coming right up on its one-year anniversary. You may be wondering, «what the hell is this S. Austin-dwelling fool doing writing a review about a liquor store in Lago Vista?», and you’d be right to wonder. Well, there are a couple of golf courses down the street, and two things that mix well are booze and golf. So there you have it. Yes, I could wander into the Super S next door, but why not support a local business? The owners live right in the neighborhood, and more often than not, they’re in the store with a smile and maybe a sample of a tasty wine or spirit for you. They tell me they also hold tastings(monthly? more often? not sure…), and I can attest to the fact that they carry some quality wines. It’s not a huge space, and doesn’t mess around much with stuff you’re not looking for. Rather, it sticks to booze, and does it well. The walls are lined with fine spirits, the floor shows off the wine selection, and the cooler in the back sports a limited but quality selection of beer and other chilled drinks. Be sure to ask about their weekly specials, because they often rival what you’ll see at Twin Liquors or even Spec’s! If you find yourself in the area, stop in and browse a bit. Once you see all those shiny bottles and experience their warm Texas hospitality, I’m betting you’ll be leaving with some shine under your arm, and a smile on your face.
