Chicago Joe’s

The owners Joe and Cheryl are awesome! The food is classic style Chicago food. I love the Italian beef combo and the meatball sub on cheesy garlic bread is amazing!!! If you like chicken parmigiana sandwiches you gotta try one at Chicago Joe’s!

This place is open! They are open from 11am — 8 pm and closed on Sunday’s and Monday’s. The italian beef with triple hot giardinara was spot on, so was the combination. But the real star was the gene and Jude style dog. Natural casing, perfectly steamed poppyseed bun, all the fixings. So good!!! If you are traveling on 80 and don’t want to stop at another tired highway stop, then go ahead, travel the 8 miles to Lagrange indiana and try this yummy spot. It’s worth the trip.

Heard good things about this place. Drove over an hour to try it. They are closed! Out of business maybe? I don’t know, but I wasted a lot of time and gas.

Excellent food and staff. Just like back home in Chicago. A must for authentic Chicago food.

Recently moved out of the area — on a recent visit back home, we stopped at Chicago Joe’s on a whim. All this time, Chicago Joe’s and delicious pizza and calzones were just down the road and I had no idea. Alright atmosphere, terrific food, and spectacular service!

A coworker and I drop in for a quick lunch and got a very nice surprise. This place was fantastic. The Italian beef was great. It reminded me of some of the great food from my Chicago trips. This place will be must stop the next time I am in the area.

We made a last second trip up to Lagrange so we took a look at Unilocal for a resturant. And thanks to Unilocal we found Chicago Joe’s. This place is awesome! I have had several Italian Beef sandwiches in Chicago & Joe’s tops them all & the fries were over top, fresh cut YUM!
Many places are defined by the passion or lack of by the owner & when you meet Joe (he was behind the counter & took our order) you will see why this place is so special & why the food is so good.
We will be back because we seen the pizzas that were coming out & they looked awesome.

Not bad at all… good pizza, always great service and very friendly… pizzas are a little heavy on the cheese but if you like your cheese that’s not a problem

There are not many dinning options in the area. Chicago Joe’s did not disappoint! Owners were great and food was good. If you are in town during the summer visiting town well worth the drive from the local area lakes. Family friendly, alot of food places in the area are 21 & over.

Excellent place! The staff is super friendly — even sitting down with us for a chat after we had eaten. The owner’s wife even mentioned pasta nights — although i’m not sure when they take place. I’ve had the pretzel dog (uh-​mazing!) and their pizza is superb! Great place to go!

I love Italian Beef sammiches and being from the South Bend area, it’s a challenge finding an authentic Italian Beef. I travel a lot in Northern Indiana for work and noticed this place a few months ago but it looked like it was closed… and it was. They aren’t open on Mondays. Anyway I did catch them when they were open and am glad I did. The beef sammich is great. The bun holds up well when dipped, the beef was flavorful and the gravy (like au jus for the uninitiated) was great. Fresh cut fries were good too. Joe and his wife were very friendly and notice when their customers know how to order Chicago style. For locals, they also have live bands on weekends. Everything looks good there but I always get a beef when I eat there. It’s a little pricey but well worth it.

We ate here twice this weekend. Last night we had Italian beef sandwiches. They roast their own beef and serve it on real Chicago rolls. It was very good. I’ll probably get it «dry» next time instead of «wet» just to make it easier to pick up. We liked it so much we came back again tonight and had their pizza. Homemade dough, homemade sauce, good quality fresh-​grated cheese, and fresh ingredients. Great pizza! The owners are from Chicago and talked very enthusiastically about their food. We will definitely come back every time we’re in Lagrange.

I came in around 9 on a Friday night. The dinner crowd had just cleared out, so I had the place to myself. The staff is friendly in this old-​Indiana storefront with a tin ceiling. The owner has big plans and bought the building next door to expand this ambitious hot dog, sandwich and pizza place. With plans for a stage for live music and a new beer license, this is a place on the move.
I had the Italian beef which was just stupendous. Spiced right on an authentic roll heaped with plenty of sweet and hot peppers, I was in sandwich heaven.
For now it is a 4-​star for it’s dinner only crowd. But, keep an eye on this sandwich shop with big shoulders. It plans are carried out, this will be a hot spot in short order!
