I agree with Ken! I love the suishi and they are accommodating to my kids. I do wish a little less expensive for us who are single moms… However that will not stop me! I just wish they had v coke products:)

We go here several times a year and are very happy with it every time. I’m always happy with the sushi. I recommend the warm sake.

This isn’t the best sushi I have ever had but not the worst either. Pretty basic rolls and rather small in size for the price. The Goyza(pan fried pork dumplings) were tasty.

I stopped by for a quick lunch and was highly satisfied. My servers name was Sally too and she was awesome! The interior is very nice and they even have private sections for larger parties. The fish quality is fresh and they give good portions. I ordered a 2 piece salmon and the black dragon roll. It was delicious! I would definitely come back when I visit Georgia again.

Stopped by for late lunch on a Saturday & it was not busy at all. Great sushi — fresh and flavorful which my family reported. I had a tempura that was great. We’ll be back when we’re in the area.

Sushi is very good and very fresh. The best you will find in these parts. David, the chef is pleasant to talk to and makes everything look presentable and delicious. Staff is friendly and attentive. Would definitely recommend the Sushi regular, a bargain at $ 16.

Great prices, and the best sushi in LaGrange. I’ve had much better sushi before, but the staff is always friendly and helpful. Great hibachi menu as well. The lunch specials are cheap for the portions you get, and they’re packed well for carry out.

Like other reviews, excellent!!! I skipped the tables, sat at the bar, watching the sushi, sashimi, and rolls being made. Everything was fresh. I sampled all of the above items. If you driving from the east, turn into the public parking on your left; Yama is right around the corner.

Yama is pretty damn good. I dined there for the first time about six weeks ago and have been back four times. I’ve not had a bad bite of food there. I already have a couple of favorites, so I’m slow to explore the menu. I have begun to work my way through their sushi rolls, even though I’m a neophyte, I’ve thoroughly enjoyed both of the rolls I’ve ordered. The staff has been very friendly and I love the privacy afforded by the private dining rooms. If you are in LaGrange and you have not tried Yama, you’ve got to be freaking kidding!!!

My friend and I were traveling from Montgomery Al to Atlanta and decided we wanted sushi for dinner. Thinking we were out of luck I came across Unilocal.I searched for sushi and found Yama. It was late, 9:30, but they were very nice and welcomed us. Food and service was nice! And fast! And now back on the road…

For a city that doesn’t have a ton of choices for sushi, Yama will suffice. The menu is limited, but has the staples.

The fish I had was delicious, but the bentos we ordered were ok. It’s a fine restaurant, but when you’re used to authentic japanese, it was a bit of a letdown.

The sushi is super fresh and delicious. They also have some very creative rolls and cuts of fish. The tuna belly is fantastic. David makes some very cool dishes, definitely worth a stop!

So I’m in town on a business trip and found Yama on Unilocal.I sit down at the bar and the server says ‘so let’s talk about food’. From there it got even better. The friendship soup had the right blend of sweet and spice, full of great veggies and other ingredients, not just a ‘nice’ broth. A place to stop again for sure!

YAMA is a nice surprise for the LaGrange area. Fresh sushi with delicious rolls! Definitely visiting again while I’m in the area.

I was a little worried when they had to call the owner back in to make the rainbow roll, but we were pleasantly surprised. We ordered a rainbow roll, a spicy tuna roll, a super crunch shrimp roll, and a snowflake roll. The fish was super fresh, and even though the rolls had more rice on them than I like, they were still very tasty. The rainbow and super crunch were the biggest rolls I have ever had! The spicy tuna roll was just a tuna roll with some spicy sauce on top, which was disappointing, but the deliciousness of the other rolls made up for it. Plus, the beer is ice cold. I will definitely visit this place again when I’m in town.

While working in the Lagrange, GA area the past several weeks I’ve taken the opportunity to visit YAMA on two occasions. Both visits were for dinner meetings with business associates. As I understand it, YAMA recently opened but the owner is an experienced chef and restaurateur. The quality of the food is very good, the servings larger than expected, and the prices are less than average for the same quality and serving size at comparable restaurants. The location is great(downtown Lagrange) although parking can be a slight problem on a busy evening, but that should not prevent you from visiting. For all of the above I give YAMA four stars and I will definitely be back. However, on the flip side, YAMA’s owner and/or manager should do a better job training their wait staff. On each of my visits I was served by different people, but neither really knew much about the menu, didn’t offer any useful information, and both interrupted me and my business associates several times. I felt like saying, «It’s YAMA, not the Waffle House!» It’s tough for any new start-up business to make it in these tough economic times, but it is especially true of new restaurants. I hope YAMA makes it. They have a lot going for them, but polish up your wait staff or else your business clientele may go elsewhere.
