I started taking Karate here in high school and had a wonderful experience before moving away for college. Before taking classes at Master Barley’s, I always just assumed I was weak and clumsy, and these classes showed me that with some training and discipline, I could feel strong and confident. I just wish I had started earlier!

I do not bake. And I am a Yankee fan. Also, I do not hide behind two letter screen names and then bash a place I was simply not cut out for. Granted, Brazilian Jiu-​Jitsu is more my personal speed, but prior to BJJ I took a traditional martial art for 14 years. Became a world champion, saw the inside of my share of schools, both good and bad. Which is to say, I can opine on this matter with more than a small about of coherent validity. What I see at Barley’s is a place where my nieces have grown into exemplary young ladies, utilizing the discipline and family-​centric atmosphere emphasized at the school to hone their characters.
