EurAupair Intercultural Child Care Program

I am an Au-​Pair of EurAuPair and am finishing my SECOND year in the same hostfamily as an AuPair with EurAuPair! I am absolutely amazed by the engagement of the employees. I always had someone listening to me. They were always reliable. They also checked in with my hostfamily every month. Especially my area coordinator Cynthia Vickers was so super supportive every single time I reached out to her. I was always treated with respect and loving which is very meaningful when you’re all by yourself far away from home. I am grateful for every single one at EurAuPair making such a great experience possible! I would always choose this agency again. My two years are almost over. I can’t believe it. I grew within myself so much, it was worth every little day of homesickness or also disagreement with my family over here. Because of course we don’t always have the same opinion. But we all had one in common, the love for the children! To have the right family you get along with is the most important part. EurAuPair does a great job finding those matches. There are So So many positive experiences of us AuPairs. I came to the United States with I think 30 other AuPairs two years ago! I got screened very well and intense, like my experience or criminal history etc. they wanted to Know every detail and also check my whole background. They want to make sure that I am a good person that will be a good AuPair to a family. It was a lot of work to get all the information together they requested. Also at the workshop in New York they made sure that nobody was unprepared. We had a very intense workshop! Every single one of us fell to sleep like a baby at night. But we were prepared for our families. Thank you!

I have had Au Pairs for 9 years. We started with Cultural Care and then selected Eur Aupair because they had more French girls. I would have to say that we have had average to poor results. The first girl went well. The second one wanted to go home, the third wanted to change host family, as did the next two. I have found that the girls will tell you exactly what they want you to know when they are at home, however as soon as they arrive here, they manipulate the agency to get what they want. They are all on facebook and there are actual sites called «Au Pair Confessions» where they talk about sleeping with host fathers and what to do to get out of your current host family. One tactic is that they claim «they feel unsafe», and that guarantees a move.
The point I make is that when push comes to shove, EurAupair will always side with the aupair, in spite of the fact that you are paying all the costs. My aupair colluded with another family whose aupair had finished her assignment, to move to their family. She left the house after Christmas one evening, when we were out of the house, leaving me, a single dad with two kids. Euraupair did NOTHING. They refunded me my money and that was it. The local area manager Liesa Chapman wanted nothing to do with this aupair. Managers, Cynthia Vickers and Miriam Weyand abandoned me completely. This aupair moved family on her own without following ANY of the EurAupair agency rules, and the agency did nothing.
I have since hired French girls directly from France for the 3 months of summer holidays and have had wonderful experiences. The message is that if you have one child and need 25 to 30 hours of work, give them a car and give them plenty of time off, you may be ok. However, if you want to have someone who works 45 hours, limits car time, have them work ANY day on the weekend, they will realize there is a better deal elsewhere and request a «rematch». And when that happens, you will have no help for at least 6 weeks, and EurAupair wont help you.

Euraupair is a fantastic agency that really cares about host families and AuPairs in the program.

I want to explain why I am so mad about the way my wife and I were treated by Euraupair. We had two aupairs from Euraupair before our bad experience, one girl was from Germany and she was a doll, the second girl was not so wonderful but she was ok. After ⁹⁄₁₁ we contracted with Euraupair to get our third aupair. As soon as the girl came into our home it seemed like she wasn’t happy and hardly spent any time with our son who was 5. We spoke to the community counselor, Marita Falconer, who we always had a good relationship with, so I thought, about the girl because she seemed very unhappy. After one week of the aupair being in our home, we decided to have a meeting and at the meeting we were told by Ms. Falconer that we were «abusive» to the girl, and that Euraupair was going to remove her from our home. We were never told what we said or did that was abusive but they were removing the girl and not refunding the $ 2000 we had just paid. Mind you, when we had our first aupair Ms. Falconer asked my wife and I if we could let another aupair, who was friends with our aupair, stay in our home because her host parent was being «inappropriate» with her. If we were such terrible people why would she have asked us to help out with this young girl. We lost our money because we couldn’t go to Laguna Beach for arbitration, and when I tried to call their main office to talk to them they wouldn’t talk to me. This company will scam you out of money, beware.
I just want to add that when I called Euraupair in California the lady who I spoke to was as rude to me as she could be. She didn’t want to discuss anything about what my wife and I supposedly did, and why this girl felt abused. To this day, I have no idea what reason they used to remove this girl. Afterwards someone from the agency had the audacity to say disparaging things about my 6 year old son, meanwhile no one from Euraupair, not even Ms. Falconer, ever had anything bad to say about him prior to removing the aupair. These people are truly unethical.

Very disappointed in the agency. We had a great au pair but NO help from the agency regards her credits. They are not even willing to meet us half way. Would not recommend this agency. Not worth the money. Got no support from counsellors!!!

I really wish I could give negative stars to this corrupted company. I came to the United States through EurAupair and was placed in a family with a clinically depressed mom (she overdosed on prescription drugs, God bless her soul) and a child with mental and developmental issues. First of all, all EurAupair families are «supposedly» checked and proven to be fit for having an aupair. However, I was never told about the family’s problems. Instead I was left to find about it myself after I was already in the family. For five months I tried to be ok with it (EurAupair doesn’t let you change families unless you try to «solve the problems» first).
After those five months I was able to go to a new family. At first they seemed very nice and a great family until the host dad started harassing me. The host dad started sending me disturbing text messages in the middle of a night while I was having my weekend off. The next day I let EurAupair know about what had happened and that I didn’t feel comfortable staying in the same house with him anymore. I tried to talk to the family about it too but they showed no interest in trying to solve the problem. They even called EurAupair telling them that I was the one who didn’t want to talk to them and that I had showed no interest in trying work things out. I sent screenshots of the text messages that I received from my host dad to EurAupair, but their response was «if you cause any more problems we will have to send you home». I also offered to mail them my phone records to prove that I had tried to call my host family multiple times to try to work things out with them. However, EurAupair had no interest in trying to help me or even to believe what I was telling them.
At that point EurAupair was ready to send me back home and make me pay for the flight. But, luckily after threatening to sue the company they agreed to give me two weeks to find a new family. I was able to find one by myself (EurAupair didn’t help me at this point anymore) and I moved in with them just a few days later.
I would NEVER recommend EurAupair to anyone. In fact, I would go out of my way to try to convince people not to do business with this company. No one deserves to be treated the way I was treated by these people.
There are only two things I’m grateful about coming the United States through this agency: My last host family that I found myself. They are amazing and I will be staying in touch with them for as long as it’s possible. And I would have never met my husband if I had not come to this country.

After being a host family with this agency for 3+ years, we had an au pair who was not happy with our family. She was coached (by friends? online?) to use «trigger words» to be removed from our house immediately. We were completely blind-​sided, as she never expressed her unhappiness to us… and we were given (literally) 10-​minutes’ notice before she was removed from our home.
Not only did EurAuPair not take into account our experiences with the other 3 au pairs who had lived with us, they left us with absolutely no child care.
Recently I found out that even though I told them that this au pair had been leaving my children UNATTENDED in front of a LOCKED SCHOOL every morning (which we were addressing with her at home), they placed her with a new family in another state. Apparently, they lose money if the au pairs return to their native countries.
Perhaps all au pair agencies would handle the situation similarly. I only know about our experience with Eur AuPair… and how I would NEVER recommend an agency that would remove childcare from the home (with no notice) without talking to the host family as well as the au pair.
