Sapphire Laguna

Last night we had dinner at Sapphire, which was actually our third time at the restaurant in the last few years. It saddens me to say that our experience was not nearly as great as it has been in the past. The menu selection was just OK. My husband had the ribeye and I had the beef tenderloin and lobster ravioli. For the price, everything was also just OK. Our server was not rude, but wasn’t very friendly. My husband actually took me here to celebrate my birthday, and the front desk did not communicate a special request he had made to the server, so that was kind of a bummer. Just disappointed that Sapphire has lost its luster compared to our previous experiences.

What a lovely place for brunch! We could see the ocean as we sipped our mimosa cocktail (sans permis). I had the braised pork chile verde. It had just the right balance of flavors between the juicy pork, the tangy verde sauce, and the creamy egg. As I looked at the dishes being delivered around us, I knew I’d have to return just to try the other items in such a beautiful location.

Went here for brunch yesterday and loved it. Laguna has a lot of places but this is definitely a good spot. I will go back here. I had the chicken and cheddar biscuit and it was prepared perfectly. The drink menu is nice and the service was also good.

What a find! Ed had the Garlic Shimp Bibimap and I had the Indian Spiced Salmon. both Incredible!!! And Stacy was absolutely wonderful! Ask for Stacy!

Recieved an «Open Table », Invitation from chef and owner «Azmin G. For valentines day brunch .our reservation was at 11:30 am. arrived early and checked in .got coffee and a almond croissant ’ at the ’ sapphire pantry ‘, which is right next door. Both where great ’ but the coffee rich and full of flavor continued through Brunch and after .
The atmosphere was great and the service’ excellent with attention to each guest .
The food was great and not the normal restaurant faire .
In my party of 4, the food range was the «Eggs benedicts, Crispy chicken cheddar, and egg omelette.
All excellent in presentation and taste .

I love this little gem in Laguna. The atmosphere is great. There is plenty of outside dining and a beautiful space inside as well.
Drinks are spot on. I recommend the Orange Sonic and Adam Squeeze. Both are refreshing and not too sweet.
I remember having the Savory Oatmeal awhile ago and I can’t stop raving about it. This time I went with the Garlic Shrimp Bimbimbap. They didn’t skimp on flavor and quality! The rice was cooked perfectly, the shrimp was moist and garlic-​y, the veggies were scrumptious, and the soft boiled egg was nice and runny :)
If you’re looking for a good meal with amazing views, don’t look any where else!

Been coming here for years. First Unilocal review of my life. Brought a party of 6 including out of town friends here for New Years Eve. Made the reservations a month before but we were seated in an outside tent at the very back. Almost on PCH. They never asked if I preferred inside or the outside tent when making the rez? It was a cold night and halfway thru dinner it became clear that they had turned off the space heaters for some reason. They couldn’t seem to fix the problem so we were eating basically outside by the end in 50 degree weather. Ordered an entrée of Paella which came in a cup of soup sized serving? There were other issues.
Called Jeff the manager a few days later to tell about all of this. Said he would email me and «take care of it». Never heard back and NEVER GOING BACK and will be telling the same to EVERYONE I KNOW

Enjoyed a corporate dining experience recently. Food was vey good. Steak was cooked perfectly. Overall presentation was good. Specific orders struggled a bit as they came to the table, (served to wrong person, mixed up orders, etc) but overall a very nice experience.
Special appreciation to Vanessa, who helped to make the service the best it could be. Several others were less attentive.

I really want give this place a great review, especially since it’s been exceptional now and again, but the fact of the matter is that the food and overall experience are rather inconsistent. So I’d have to agree with the restaurant’s current 3.5 star rating (but rounded up to 4, because honestly I like the place). Sadly, I’d almost recommend going to the place next door, Sapphire Pantry, instead, as they apparently have the same Kobe burger, but at a greatly reduced price.
The menu changes often, but a few things seem to always be around. For lunch or dinner I would definitely recommend the Kobe burger, and for brunch, try the fried chicken and biscuit — you won’t be sorry.

My husband and I traveled to California for a conference. We went here for dinner one evening. There were so many things on the menu that sounded so good so I asked our waiter Bruce for some recommendations. His response was everything is delicious and went through the flavor profiles of the dishes until something just clicked and I knew what to order. Bruce was a fantastic waiter and the food simply yummy. Thank you Bruce for a wonderful dining experience at sapphire. Next time we travel to California we will be back, and yes we will ask to be seated in Bruce’s section!

Inspired… Amazed…Blown away!!! It’s rare to have a meal that is perfect from beginning to end and Sapphire delivered. If you are lucky enough to have Chris as your waiter, trust whatever he says. Every suggestion he made was perfect! Thank you for a great night!

This place is just fine with me for a couple appetizers and some wine. I haven’t had an opportunity to try dinner entrees. The ambiance inside is fine although a little too dark for quite a few diners (I noticed a lot of iphone flashlights working). The wait staff is super attentive, they don’t rush you and gave a thorough (if a bit long) overview of the menu. I do think the service was mostly the best part. The app I liked best was the lamb dumplings. The dough was more like an empanada that was baked and the lamb was tender inside and the yogurt and seasoning really worked. The gnocchi was fine, creamy and good and the salad we had was good but pepper wasn’t offered and it was a bit under seasoned. Good enough to try again.

Food was ok, but not for the price. Beef tenderloin was cooked correctly (medium rare) but was dry and fibrous; evidence that it had been previously frozen. When you pay $ 40 for a petite filet and 3 ravioli, you would expect FRESH. I’d compare tonight’s dinner claim jumper.
Service was excellent. Ambiance was ok. Eating dinner on the patio was spoiled by excessive road noise.

Had a lunch today. Paid $ 16 for some «surprise box» and really disappointed! Strawberries are spoiled and didn’t enjoyed my food at all except Lavender lemonade and décor. So this place is over pricy and I won’t recommend!

I absolutely enjoyed this place! Fine dining right next to the beach and the food isn’t too pricey! It’s so worth. The server I had was very accommodating & so very nice, really made the experience that much better. Very clean here with beautiful interior décor & great outside patio seating.
NOw for the food! I ordered the Kobe Beef Havarti Burger. Medium rare. SOOOO GOOOD. It is a must try! It’s not a small burger either, you definitely get your money’s worth. Comes with garlic fries too. It is so savory & so flavorful, I couldn’t find anything I didn’t like about it! Everything was so fresh. Also, they serve these cheese breads that is very very tasty too! I would definitely come here again! Exceptional food & service can be found here. And it’s within walking distance of the beach! GO HERE.

First coming here I didn’t know what to expect other than the reviews I have read from Unilocal.First being greeted by friendly staff and an amazing waitress started lunch out perfectly.
The restaurant décor inside and out is just perfect. Let’s get to the important part, the food. I had the salad with octopus and the Kobe beef burger. Said was very refreshing and delicious. That burger! What can I say other than amazing.
Cooked to perfection and wow it was the tastiest burger I have ever had along with this thin garlic fries.
If you haven’t eating here before find the time grab your friends or family and go. You will not regret it.

Pleasantly surprised!
Greeted right away by a friendly hostess. Seated inside but still had a view of the ocean.
Prompt service by both server and busy boy. Drinks never went empty. That is huge for me!
The cheesy bread they give you was warm and super tasty. I said, if the bread is good then it’s a good sign the rest will be good too. Lol
We had three dishes:
Kobe cheeseburger, simply done but very tatsy. Cooked perfectly and it was very juicy.
Chicken and waffles, needed some salt, but other than that it was delicious. Its topped with gravy, so gotta love that!
Pork Verde and eggs, this was our favorite dish by far. Flavor was outstanding. Will always order this dish when I dine here. Pork was seasoned to perfection and the chili Verde was a great combo with the eggs and avacado. Topped with cheese for the win! Soooo good
Large portions, Great service, peek a boo ocean view, and delicoiuse food!

With a clear spectacular view of the Pacific, Sapphire is one of the few coastal restaurants where the is food is excellent. Having ran my own kitchen in the recent past, I’ll be the spokesperson for the freshness of ingredients here and the very delicious flavors. The food is delicious.
We had a variety of menu items and I’ll go through some briefly:
+Chef Asmin’s V6 — a beautiful fresh juiced bounty of beet, carrot, apple, celery, parsley and sea salt… mild and slightly earthy
+Fresh Juice of the Day was an amazing mix of kale, spinach, apple, lemon but with the addition of super-​healthy ginger, turmeric and a hit of cayenne
+ Fresh Farmers Market fruits — and I mean fresh and tasty
+ Lemon-​ricotta pancakes — fabulous with a taste of lemon but just enough; with a blueberry-​ginger syrup and vanilla Chantilly
+ Braised pork chili verde — a lovely surprising dish with a sunny-​side up organic egg, when cut into it reveals a delicious layer of pork, avocado, queso fresco and roasted tamatillos
Our menu consisted of 12 items — you get the point. Friendly, courteous service with a roomy patio and that great ocean view. Most definitely recommend and will go back. I had a chance to meet Chef Azmin — a very lovely man with quite an extensive worldly experience. I’ve read his bio — I am very honored to have met him.
Sapphire Laguna is worth the effort to find parking — although we did see a couple of parking structures on the back street. Get a table outside and relax.

I’m shocked this place has only 3 ½ stars. I made a reservation for Sunday at 11:30am on the patio. Upon arriving we were sat immediately. The restaurant is located right off the main road so it’s perfect for people watching.
To start I ordered the peach sangria. It was wonderful! Very light and refreshing. For my meal I ordered the corned beef hash. It was amazing! So many flavors. The meat was so tender with a hint of sweet. The potatoes were strings so they weren’t too heavy and overpowering. My boyfriend got the braised pork. It too was amazing. I love the big chunks of avocado and the side of tortillas they included.
Overall this is a great restaurant! Service was amazing. The hostess, manager and our server were so friendly. It’s got a beautiful patio out front to relax and people watch. The patio is dog friendly so bring your pooch! The drinks are great and the food is amazing. I don’t normally give many places a 5 out of 5 but this place deserves it! If I’m ever back in the area this will be the first place I stop!

When you go to Sapphire, prepare to be Dazzled!
Everything about this place exceeded all my expectations! There was a great view and feeling the breeze through the leaves created the perfect ambience.
Entire meal was delicious. Even the bread is yummy! The outdoor patio is wonderful, right on PCH, and you can see the ocean from your table-​it isn’t on the ocean side of PCH, so you aren’t on the sand. They have large yellow umbrellas, with wooden tables surrounding a fire pit and several heat lamps and blankets.
The restaurant is artsy and trendy while sporting a beach house flair. The hand-​blown glass lighting lends the perfect touch and gives a comfy and cozy feel to the bar. It is a romantic restaurant at night-​great place to take a date. And they have a magnificent wine selection.

Do yourself a huge favor — experience Sapphire for yourself — it is quite possibly the finest restaurant in Laguna Beach!
