We vacationed in Laguna in November and visited this wonderful bakery everyday. The cronuts are unbelievable in addition to delicious donuts. The coffee is self serve but there are 7 choices that are fresh. There are plenty of cream and sugar choices as well. My husband and I had the Kona each day. The owners are so kind and helpful. They even gave us free donuts the last day. It is a must do for breakfast.

As I entered, I could smell the fresh donuts and I was so excited to purchase a dozen donuts, plus 2 cronuts! They were delicious and soft, just like I imagined. The cronuts were great with their flaky, yet chewy texture. I wish I lived next door so I could purchase these more often!

Cronuts are so good. Flakey and light and perfectly sweet. The best part is these cronuts don’t have any filling. Love the mom and pop feel. Super friendly proprietors.

I love this place! I occasionally grab a donut before I head off to the beach, and they never disappoint. Donuts are very fresh and cheap, and the lady who works there is very sweet. Located in North Laguna, it’s pretty out of the way, so it’s usually not crowded. I recommend the maple bar and cronuts!

Fabulous donuts and even more fabulous owners. One of the freshest donuts joints I’ve ever been to and I’ve been to a lot. Thank you for always keeping it real!

We were craving something sweet for breakfast so we stopped by and picked up a dozen donuts, a cronut and a couple of croissants. We had never had a cronut before, but had of course heard the hype. It was very tasty but not quite as good as we imagined it could be. The donuts were delicious and the croissants were amazing. Only reason we did not give 5 stars was the price. $ 28 seemed a little high. However it is Laguna Beach land of insane prices.

We just moved to Laguna Beach and our neighbours told us this place had the best donuts ever and they’re absolutely right. We’ve been there 5 times now and the donuts are SO good and I’m not even a desserts person! I get the glazed every time(ok, I get two glazed every time…). The almond pastry was also delicious. Haven’t tried anything else but will definitely go back. We chatted with the lady who owns the place and she’s in there every morning at 3am making everything from scratch herself. Her kids help out when they can but it’s basically just her. She’s only open til 3pm(at that point she’s been there 12 hours so fair enough) so get there early! Donuts are 95 cents each and they take credit card via iPad. I’ve got a massive craving for a South Swell donut now! :)

How does a Donut Shop have Phở? Very easily and according to the guy at their counter, it was worth raving about. So I got some for lunch, and he was right it was YUMMMYYY :) I look forward to it cooling down so I can enjoy it in cooler weather but it’s local, fast and good :)

Doughy, sugary deliciousness! I live around the corner from South Swell and the staff couldn’t be nicer. Money fell out of my pocket on my morning walk– but I was desperate for coffee. The owner gave me a cup of joe and said I could bring the money next time. Like previous reviewers mention, the coffee ain’t the best you’ve ever had– but man, it’ll do in a pinch. You don’t come here for the coffee. You come for the amazing donuts cooked with love for the SoLa community. Old fashioned, sprinkles, and MOUTHWATERING cronuts — c’mon! I love mom and pop donut shops. Friends from Newport come here for the Phở. I haven’t tried it– I’m a morning south swell girl.

Small and friendly, great service and the best melt in your mouth donuts EVER! We thought they were even better than Krispy Kreme and Dunkin Donuts. Lessen the guilt and park your car and walk there and then walk your dog afterwards and burn off the calories all the while taking in the great view of the Pacific coastline. It’s a win win!

Unfortunately, this is our nearest donut shop, and it is frankly not very good. Kids like the donuts, but anything I’ve had here in the past year whether donuts, cinnamon rolls, pastries or muffins is mediocre at best. If you going to eat junk like this, it should be good. And that’s not the case here. Everything tastes basically the same. Most things are too doughy and some things are greasy. Anything with fruit is iffy, too. Never tried the sandwiches or phở and given the appearance of the place most of the times we’ve been there, I’m not sure I want to. I would not mind seeing this place replaced with something else. Maybe something like the former Café Vienna, but on a smaller scale?

I was so excited to learn that a place in Laguna served Phở and even better, they were open super early. Unfortunately, you should stick to the donuts at South Swell. The soup was so plain that I poured a ton of soy sauce into it. Also, between 2 bowls of beef phở, there were only 3 slices of meet. The owner later confessed that she’d run out of beef, but why not just say so and we’d have ordered the chicken phở? Or, at least give us a break on the price since it wasn’t beef phở, it was just noodles. I might try it for the donuts, but the phở is awful!
