Had a great time SUPing in Laguna Beach yesterday with the wife and friends. Erin was so great to work with and had our boards ready for us. She gave our friends who were new to SUPing a quick but thorough tutorial and we were on our way. The views were incredible and we saw two whales diving in the distance! Highly recommend this place

Had my first paddleboard experience today! My friend and I just rented paddleboards, we didn’t purchase a lesson. But when Erin heard it was my first time she gave us tons of helpful tips and explained a lot of things I didn’t know! She even helped us push out into the water to get past the break waves. She is so friendly, you can really tell she loves her job. I will definitely rent from her again!

What a fun birthday surprise, my friends and daughters took me stand up paddleboarding for my birthday. Erin and her assistant were professional, friendly and easy to work with. We all did fantastic! Yoga on the water is challenging but Erin’s expert instructions took us from downward dog to side plank and we got some great pictures. Will definitely do it again!

What a great experience! I’ve been padding recreationally for a couple of years and the experience with Erin has been the best. Erin is professional, on time, extremely knowledgable and helpful. She has the latest equipment and will make sure that all everything is secure before you head out. Another great thing is she comes to you! So, if the swell is too big at the beach, she can bring the boards to the bay! You have options with Sunset Paddle.
Whether you are a beginner or more advanced stand up paddler, you definitely should use this company. After renting paddle boards from Sunset Paddle, I won’t be going anywhere else when I’m OC.

I wanted to go paddle boarding ever since last summer and have been doing some searching alone and saw how many positive reviews this place got. I have got to say, Erin did not disappoint at all! She was one of the coolest chick ever to talk to and do business with, very rad and talked to you as if you were her friend for years. This place is all the way down near the gate that leads you to the beach, FYI.
We told her that we were first timers and she took the time to explain to us what we had to do, which was great because I had no idea what to do. There aren’t a lot of businesses that will take the time to make sure you know what you’re doing before sending you off. She even gave us tips on how to balance and what to do when we were coming back. She was really sweet and a pleasure to do business with! Gave great recommendations abut the eats and night scene around there. We’ll definitely come back to her next month and any other time we feel like paddle boarding.

I’ve seen people stand up paddleboarding in various places along the coast and thought it looked fun so when my mom came to town for a long weekend I booked a private lesson with Erin for three people. There are many companies that offer lessons but I didn’t want to be in a big group and not get personal attention for something so far out of my wheelhouse.
I didn’t think about where we would be paddleboarding and just assumed it would be an easy cruise in calm waters. When we got there and saw that we had to paddle through waves in high tide to get out past the break I was worried that my 67 year old mom might not enjoy it as much as I thought she would. (She had SUPped before but didn’t have to paddle through waves that time.) I also got a little worried that I wouldn’t even make it past the waves but Erin was awesome and explained everything we needed to know about getting through the waves and launched us one at a time. We safely made it out past the break on the first try then Erin joined us for the next part of the lesson… standing up. She was fun, knowledgable, and very encouraging so even though two of us didn’t do a lot of standing (plenty of jumping in to the water) it was an awesome time. I have not spent a ton of time in the ocean despite living here for over 10 years so I was a little nervous at first but Erin made us all feel very safe and well taken care of.
The location was great with beautiful views, schools of fish swimming by, and even a couple of sea lions hanging out. It was so great being on the water that I would have been happy just sitting on the board the entire time.
I highly recommend taking a lesson from Erin if you are interested in learning to SUP or even if you have but want to get better. You can also rent boards from them in the future to keep using the skills you pick up.
I’m looking forward to working my way up to doing paddleboard yoga :)

I traveled to Southern California for business in early June. While there, I reached out to Sunset SUP in hopes of getting out on the water for an evening paddle. What I got was SO much more! Erin is absolutely fantastic!!! While the season wasn’t yet in full force, she still coordinated a paddle and yoga session. I learned so much more about paddle form and technique and absolutely loved the yoga session that she led me through. Can’t think of a better way to end a long work day! My experience was amazing. Erin is a world class kind of gal — Knowledgeable, professional, and just plain fun to be around! I’ll be back the next time I’m in So Cal!

My entire family and I were first time paddle boarders and we all agreed that out of our week long stay at Laguna Beach, this was definitely the highlight of our vacation. Erin was so kind and encouraging and made our first time super fun and enjoyable. Would totally do again in a heart beat!

I’ve been SUP boarding for a few years. I typically rent boards in and around the Laguna Beach Area. Sunset Stand Up Paddle is by far the coolest and nicest to rent from.
Erin handled the transaction on the phone and texted me follow up details before I arrived on the beach. Taylor was very helpful and professional on the beach with the SUP boards.
I rented the boards at their St. Ann’s Street location. This is a beautiful stretch of beach in Laguna to SUP board. I will definitely rent from Sunset Stand Up Paddle in the future.

Amazing experience with Erin at Laguna Beach. All of us were 1^st timers and Erin was able to teach everyone how to stand up within minutes. Great fun, amazing views, wonderful staff! Well be back!

When I started my search for a SUP instructor I called the largest seller of SUP Boards in Laguna Beach for names of instructors. The salesperson told me that he highly recommended Erin at Sunset Stand Up Paddle. I took his recommendation and schedule my first lesson with Erin. He was right! She is an amazing instructor, and person. She is very patient and caring and was incredibly helpful in getting me into the ocean and up on a board.
This sport looks much easier than it is, and Erin not only has the best boards for all skill types, but the patience and ability to actually teach people so that we can enjoy the learning curve that comes with this adventure. And, it is an adventure for sure.
If you have never tried to SUP I highly recommend it. However, prepare to spend a lot of time in the water. This is another reason I appreciated Erin’s demeanor and abilities. I did not understand how hard it would be to actually stand up the first time. She was right there encouraging me and teaching me the correct way so that I understood the concept and mechanics.
I liked it so much that I scheduled a second lesson. Again, she was very patient and encouraging and made it that much more fun for me. I think I spent a little less time in the water (she said I did better) and was standing and paddling more comfortably. I am excited for my third lesson coming up. I am also really interested in her yoga SUP classes and plan on giving them a try in the near future. I love yoga and now love SUP so combining the two seems like a blast.
I cannot stress enough that for beginners, and probably even intermediate level folks, a good teacher is the way to go. Getting the mechanics and concepts down is very important. I suspect that my new found love of this sport is due in part to Erin’s expert knowledge and teaching skills. Enjoy!

I’ve been paddling with Erin for years now, and I have loved every single experience. From her instructing skills to her great attitude and positive energy, there’s really so much to love. She is an amazing instructor and my paddling skills have dramatically improved in such a short period of time. I had the absolute pleasure of spending an entire 3-​day weekend in Laguna Beach for a SUP/​SUP Yoga/​SUP Fitness teacher training program hosted by Erin O’Malley, the owner of Sunset SUP and Olympus SUP. Erin is a seasoned athlete on and off the water. She is adept in everything pertaining to the water and highly skilled at teaching, paddle boarding, yoga and is an amazing all around fitness professional. Ocean launching is much more challenging than dropping in from a harbor, lake or marina however, Erin makes the entire experience fun while taking all of the necessary measures to ensure safety. I highly recommend Sunset SUP for your next SUP adventure and experience the beauty of Laguna beach from a whole new perspective. As an added bonus, the sunsets over Laguna Beach are gorgeous and you may have the opportunity to paddle with dolphins. Enjoy! #lagunasupyogis2015

One star for the quality BOGA Yoga boards and one star for the nice instructor & scenery.
Very disappointed with the SUP yoga class, one of the worst yoga classes I’ve taken. We did a bunch of yoga poses on the board, but there was no flow and the sequence of poses was inappropriate. Pigeon pose is NOT something you do in the warm-​up. A good yoga class should build energy and prepare your body for more challenging poses as the class progresses. This class was disorganized, choppy, and the poses were random, without purpose.
There is also a huge difference in doing yoga in the studio vs on the paddleboard. Warrior poses, single leg balances, arm balances, and headstands are very advanced on the paddleboard. If you’re a beginner to yoga, forget about taking a class here. SUP yoga should include challenging poses but you shouldn’t feel like you’re going to fall every second. I’ve taken SUP yoga classes and always walk away feeling refreshed, energized, stretched, and exhausted. After this class, I felt stiff, annoyed, and frustrated. Will not be going back and don’t recommend this class.
