Super laid back and divey. Just the way I like it. There are darts boards in the back which is my personal favorite way to pass time when drinking with friends. A word of warning, it is SUPER hot inside so feel free to not wear 5 million layers of clothing. $ 5 dollar cover charge but I’m okay with that because the drinks aren’t crazy expensive.

Don’t think there can be a dive bar in the posh area of Laguna Beach? Oh… you are wrong, my friend! This place is as divy as they come, though the clientele is eclectic and has far more trendy folk than the true bar flies that you would normally see at your local watering hole. The place is filthy, kitchzy, fun, but their mixed drinks are effing terrible and expensive! How anyone can mess up a vodka tonic and a moscow mule is beyond me.

The only place in Laguna where you can go have a drink and feel like you are not dealing with a bunch of one percenter douche baggers so common to South O.C. Go to the Roof Top or the Marine Room if you want to pay $ 9 bucks a beer and pretend you are in a piss poor version of The Hills. Please! Yes it is a dive bar! Thank goodness for that! Something Laguna dearly needs! And yes it is a locals joint. Come before 9pm if you can’t stand the crowds. The bartenders and staff are usually friendly unless you act like a total amateur. Remember that the bar is not your living room and you should be ok with Chuck, Brad and the other staff. Can you dig it!

DONOTGOHERE!!! The bouncers at this establishment are the rudest individuals I have ever come across. To make a long story short, they were instigating fights with patrons, making racial comments, and overall rude. A bouncer should be there to ensure safety and diffuse situations, not the opposite. I am an attorney and watched an entire situation go down from beginning to end. I would caution the owners of this bar to take a look at their staff. People these days carry cell phone video recorders and there is no doubt the bar would have had issues here if the people involved sought legal recourse.

The owner Kenak was helpful and friendly and her place was the cleanest, nicest motel I’ve ever stayed at. No funky smells upon entering the room but fresh and clean rooms. Great prices too! We paid 59.00 plus tax and couldn’t be more happy with our choice. We will return!

$ 5 cover charge. I went on Reggae night. Packed dance floor. Mixed crowd. Locals, tourists, business people from Surf and Sand Resort. I saw at least 4 people get thrown out for intoxication, which was both comical and sad. A beer was $ 4.75. Cocktails $ 9

The Dirty Bird as my SO refers to it… We walked by this joint saw it was reggae night. Interest peaked. Watched some OC moms in white pants try to get an obviously underage girl… not so interested. People outside smoking seemed cool, so what the fuck we gave it a shot. Paid small cover, bartender didn’t give us shit(reading the other reviews I guess we lucked out?). I don’t mind dive bars, the music didn’t suck.

What’s good about it? I think the name is all this place has. I’ve been there a few times and all I can say is it’s dingy, dirty, rather expensive, bartender is unfriendly. The place gets very hot when the tiny dance floor is full and recently my friends and I felt like we were tricked: I came with friends to dance and have some fun on a weekend night. The bouncers collected $ 5 cover and didn’t warn us that the regular band was not there, instead there was a tiny«filler» band who played some cute music but impossible to dance to. Naturally, the place was maybe about 30% full. On a weekend! After a few minutes the band’s set ended, and we thought yay, now we’ll ge to dance to something more lively during the break, but the bonehead bartender kept playing kind of heavy metal. So, within 15 minutes we were out the door, feeling like we’d been tricked. I asked if we could have our cover charge back, but the bouncers were very arrogant and one of them plainly said«well, we still have to pay the „filler“ band». Really? who needs that kind of «entertainment»? a simple dance playlist from an iPod would make people dance, and everybody would be happy. Not coming back to this place.

Worst experience ever in Laguna. And I have had nothing but great times there. Brad the bartender snapped on my friend visiting from Tennessee and grabbed her wallet from her telling her it was a fake. Even though she is 28. Then proceeded to curse at us and told us to leave. I brought my friend here to show her how nice this place was but was faced with an awful time.

Went here last night for the first time. The bar tender was an actual douche bag. Didn’t get his name, he’s extremely large and sweaty. I understand it was a Saturday night and it was busy but, that was an obscure amount of sweat. Anyway, the real problem. I ordered two lemon drops and he said«no I’m not making a fucking lemon drop» so I asked for PBR’s and he said no and walked away. I would not recommend this place until that man is no longer employed there.

Came on a Friday night so naturally the place was packed and super stuffy. If you like the typical bar scene where you can watch a bunch of drunk people grinding up on each other while waiting forever at the super crowded bar for your drink, then this is the place for you.

This bar smells of sweat and desperation. On the night I went, it was jampacked with an eclectic crowd looking for love at the bottom of their cheap long island ice teas and bottles of Pacifico. There is no air conditioning in this place so when it gets full on a Friday night, it feels like being suffocated in a wet blanket. But, The mood in this place is upbeat and everybody was trying to just have a good time, so it felt like these folks had made the Sandpiper their home. The drinks were average, as well as the band, but the people watching opportunities were off the charts! The DJ kept the crowd moving in between band sets, so there was never a lull on the dance floor. Everyone was incredibly friendly and it made for a fun and interesting night out. *as a recommendation, don’t make this your end-all-be-all place to come, but add it to your Laguna Beach bar crawl to round out the experience.

Place is a little hidden so make sure you look for Jack In The Box and you will find it across the st. When I came here they had a cover charge of $ 5.00 its not much but not used to paying to go into a Dive Bar. They had a band playing«The Strangers» that wasnt bad so helped out. Went up to purchase drinks from the bigger bartender guy and he was very quick and professional. Came back later for more drinks and he seemed busy and tried 2 other bartenders and it was dumb how they would ignore me or be rude(Reason for 3 star). Bar is cool has darts, some arcade games, and other stuff to play if you want to keep busy and not just sit and drink. — — – If I was to refer the place it would be a 50⁄50 because of the service received by bartenders.

If you want a great place to dance to a live band, The Bird is the place! Although a small dance floor, they pack it in every Friday and Saturday night! The place gets packed, but all in all everyone seems to get along quite well, has fun dancing with each other if you lose your dance partner through the crazy tight packed dance floor! I really like the fact the they have bouncers who really look out to keep things going good. They are quick to handle someone who might be too drunk or get out of hand. Ive been here several times, and each time we enjoy our evening of fun and dancing. I highly recommend you stopping by if you’re in the Laguna Beach area. Check it out, you want be sorry!

For a bar in Laguna Beach, Right off PCH this place seems a little dated. The wooden walls, 70s Décor and atmosphere takes you back to when leisure suits and discos were in. The drink prices were not too bad! However, I would pass this place up and find another bar.

The Sandpiper is a dive bar located in a very posh strip in Orange County. It originally opened back in the 1950 as a Marine bar, and the inside hasn’t changed much since, albeit a little more run down. The owner was bartending when we came in. It’s the same guy who’s own the place since the 1960’s. Good pours and an overall good vibe.

The Sandpiper lounge is awesome! It’s a dive bar, yes, there’s no denying that…(they don’t even deny it.) but it’s got everything a partygoer would want: Great tunes(jukebox or live band), reasonable drinks poured well and plenty of seating! I’ve been here a few times before and most recently stopped in for a gal pal’s bday. Sure, we were rocking senior citizen hours, having arrived at around 7:30pm but we stuck it out for the live music at 9:30pm. A few drinks later, the place was jumping and we rocked out. Since we were early birds, we were quite easily able to grab great seats next to the dance floor when the music was about to start. The patrons of the olé dirty bird is a mixed bag. The night we went was interesting in that we were soon overrun by a gaggle of tuxedo/evening gown wearing folks who likely had just gotten done at a nearby Christmas party. But it goes to show anyone can have a great time here. Service is actually really good for a bar. The cocktail servers are quick, efficient and friendly. While the bartenders don’t give you the fuzzy wuzzies, they are game to make anything you want, often with an air of bemusement.(Seriously, who lets you pick what color you want your gummy bear shots to be?) If you can look past the tore-up vinyl seating and the typical bar bathrooms, I think you’d have a wonderful time here. Cheers!

This is a classic case of you either get it or you don’t. It’s a dirty dive bar that’s out of place in Laguna, which makes it even cooler. Watched a great reggae band and then played cricket in the back game room for hours. All the while both of us drinking Bohemia and Guinness with a couple of shots tied in with bets on our dart game. Our bill was a whopping… $ 40. Love it.

My thought of the Sandpiper Lounge PRIOR to entering. Looks like a cool dive bar to grab a few drinks, sing with a crappy jukebox and meet some alcoholic locals. My thought of the Sandpiper Lounge AFTER entering. NEVER, EVER, EVER going back. First off, it is a pretty expensive dive bar. Ordered a blue moon and a cosmo. Didn’t have Blue, but had shocktop in the bottle. Sucks, but hey, oh well. Asked for an orange. Don’;t have any… Really? Oh well, not the end of the world, right? Watched bartender make cosmo. It sucks being a former bartender, as i know what goes in to each drink and how much, etc. First off, the guy uses well vodka, if this was a 5 – 6 dollar drink, ok, not gonna sweat, but for 8+ dollars, come on man! Loads up the the triple sec, at least a 3 count. Come on now bro, its only a splash 1 count at most. And then puts a correct amount of cran. Strains it into a rocks glass(no rocks, just limited glassware which i understand) walla! No squeeze of lime or even roses in there. Come on now, thats Bartending 101! Bartender was nice. Not the type of makes you want to see them again and again, but him(in the customer service sense) wouldn’t keep me away. Expensive, bad drinks will though. Save your money and get a better drink and a better place. And the bad smell you smell on the outside, is lighter than the smell on the inside.
