Nu-Star Nails

I been going here for a while and I love getting my nails done here. The owner, I had him do my nails (he’s the only male working there) and he did an amazing job. I would give this place 5 stars, they just need to be more up to date with nail shapes and nail art. They can definitely do a nice basic full set, but definitely go to him, he’s awesome!

I’ve been coming here for 15 years and a lot of the same people have worked here for just as long. They are experienced and do a nice job. But what I really appreciate is that there is no high pressure up-​selling here. I’ve been to many nail salons but this is my favorite.

Very disappointed! my nails after just two weeks totally changed their gel color and look absolutely awful! (And this is after I came a week after I got them done to get them repainted because the color became disgusting brown instead of the baby pink it was) also chipped broke off and look very bad .I am not going to get my nails done there anymore.

They do great services and they’re prices are amazing! Very cheap but they do a very good! Outstanding I’d say

I love Andy! He does a great job. My nails always look perfect and he is very honest and does not try to rip you off ! definitely coming here more often! Love my rounded white tip acrylics!

DO NOT GO HERE. I went for a regular mani/​pedi — $ 20.50. I was charged an extra FOUR DOLLARS because she had removed the polish from my toes. I didn’t even have polish on my hands. The place is full of hidden charges. I never heard of this sort of charge. STAY AWAY.

I have been a customer of Nu Star Nails for nearly 15 yrs, so long that the ladies there have seen my children grow up! Throughout all of my visits, owners Andy & Helen have maintained the same staff of excellent nail technicians– Lee, Kathy, and Karen. They are all so friendly and they want to make sure they do your nails the way you like them. Andy has memorized that I like my pink & whites to have a small white part and not to be too thick, so when I start to tell him, he now simply says yes, I know :)
A great feature of Nu Star Nails is that they keep their prices low. and I mean significantly lower than all of those chain nail salons. So you will be overjoyed when you can get a mani/​pedi, and leave a good tip and still have money left over compared with what you’d have paid elsewhere.
My personal feeling on why they keep their prices low and their customer service high, is to make it a nice experience for a lot of the clients from nearby Laguna Woods — I think Andy & Helen are decent people who try to always do right by their customers, and I appreciate their style of running a business. I’ll be a client for many years to come!

My wife and I stopped by on a Sunday around 11am and it was empty. The service and prices we incredible and the chairs were very comfortable compared to other nail spas. It was our first visit so depending on the next we will adjust our rating. Regardless, the place was clean, friendly and affordable, so have added this to our monthly spots.

I have had my nails done here by Lee for over 15 hrs… She is great!, I have tried other places when she was not there or on vacation and she is the best!, I have 2 friends who come from Laguna as they love the work she does,

Okay, it really is a 1 star but because they were friendly I was generous to bump it up to a 2 star.
So why the low score? Well, I had a broken nail on half the toe that was deep and they forcefully was cutting down all my toe nails. I drew back a few times after they cut so close into the nail bed =*(That broken nail was butchered! She cut the other side to the same depth, which meant she pretty much ripped the other half of the poor nail =***(I am still in pain as that area is exposed with no nail =**(
At least I didn’t bleed but believe me, I am in pain! The only reason… reasons… that I leave it as a 2 star review is that they were sorta friendly and the prices were dirt cheap! It was only $ 11.50 for the simple pedicure. You can’t beat the price, but it comes at a price too. Sorry, but I think I will have to keep looking. Maybe it was because I was the last person that day since they were closing early due to the rain… but that doesn’t give them the right to cut me so badly. =*(

I walked in there for a quick fill, and they lady that did my nails (Thuyan?) was really nice and did a good job. They are a small place and seem to cater to the older generation (I felt like an infant in there). It is near the Trader Joes, and I think the retirement village makes trips there, so that makes sense. They were busy, but clean and friendly. Very «Mom and Pop» feel to the place. The prices were average/​inexpensive and the my tech made sure my nails were the length and shape I wanted instead of just assuming I wanted (to quote a fellow Unilocaler) «Duck feet» Where they fan out at the tips because they are too squared. I will probably return, My nails look good and it has been almost 2 weeks with no lifting or breaks. Price-​wise, I think it was 11 for fill 5 extra for gel coat so still less than 20 bucks with tip.
