Summary of my essay below: Called to fix my wine cellar. After 4 visits over the time span of a month the cellar is in worse condition than before. — — — — — — — — — — — — — — — — — — — — Story: I had originally hired Alpha Appliance to fix my Wine Cellar that seemed to be running warm. Alex came in to do a estimate and presented me with the idea that the compressor on the unit was low on freon. To refill the freon in my particular wine cellar the compressor would have to be tapped into and refilled. I then agreed to let Alex do the repair and so began my horrendous experience. We set an appointment for a Saturday morning. He gives an approximate 4 hour window for himself to arrive. My allotted time came and past. I attempted several times to reach him and he did not reply until later. He said that he had a family related issue and unfortunately could not make it. I understand that emergencies do occur and sometimes things don’t go as planned. So, I decided to reschedule with him. Alex said he would call me back to reschedule. He did not(I should’ve taken this as a red flag). I called him days later to reschedule on the following Saturday. On the day of the second appointment I call to confirm that he would indeed show up. I call and there was no answer. I call again about halfway through the allotted time schedule and he finally decides to pick up his phone. He claims that he is only half an hour away and he should arrive shortly. The time came and went by. I had already scheduled an appoint after my allotted time, so I had to leave my house. Fortunately, my Brother was home, so he could wait for him. He arrives about a hour and half late with his partner to finally do the repair. After the repair is complete he says to leave the Wine cellar off for 48 hours. I did exactly as he said. After plugging the unit in for a few days I realized that the Wine Cellar is now warmer that before. It seemingly worked worse than before the repair. I called for Alex to come back. Alex did arrive within the allotted time slot to take another look. He says that there is possibly a filter that need to be changed. I ask him if it were possible to have a leak and Freon was constantly leaking out. He claimed that it was unlikely and more than likely it was the Freon filter. He said he would need to look at his schedule to see when he could fit me in to change the filter. Once again he did not call me and I had to call him to reschedule. On the day of the repair he said that his partner got rear ended on the freeway and he could not do the work without his partner. He said that he would call me immediately once he heard back from his partner and he would fit me in anytime. A full week went by and he did not call me. I called him again and he said that he would call me back in 20 minutes with an appointment time. Another two days go by before I call him and leave him a message along the lines of «Call me back or I issue a charge back on my credit card». All of a sudden he was able to call me back before the end of the day. He set me up with an appointment and his partner and him arrived. Once he walks in he claims that there is 100% a leak with the system(different story than before) and they needed to check the leak. Him and his partner tinker with the wine cellar and were unable to figure out anything. He said that he would need to call the manufacturer to see if he could get the parts required to fix it. What confused me is if he had no idea where the leak was or what was wrong with it how do you know which part to get from the manufacturer? He said he would call me on Monday with an answer. Well Monday came and went and no call(not surprising). Instead I’ve resorted to just issuing a charge back on my credit card. The only reason why I believe these guys are still in business is because they charge you a non refundable $ 30 to do an estimate. Moral of the story is if you have tons of time on your hands and would like a job done wrong give Alpha Appliance a call. If you like to live dangerously or all the other repairmen on this side of planet Earth suddenly dropped dead and you really need to use their service use your Credit Card, so you can issue that Charge Back when he can’t fix your issue.
