We decided to try this place out since it’s right accross from Teds Burgers in the same parking lot. This fish burrito was nor very good. Big, but blah. Inside the place is very colorful. When we asked for a refill of coke, she brought it back half full. I forgot to accept and post my review about this place until now, but it looks like they are no longer at this location.

Perfect. South county needed this! Sadly, it went out of business. Apparently they didn’t.

**No longer at this location** It seems the opening of Whole Foods meant the closing of Mi Tierra, and plenty of other businesses.

I spoke to the night manager at Roundtable Pizza, which was next door to Mi Tierra, and was told that since Whole Foods came in, the rents have increased on the other tenants, which may explain Mi Tierra closing at this location… but there is hope, he said that Mi Teirra was planning to re-open in the Henry’s/Sprout’s shopping center down the road, so I’ll keep an eye out for them there.

Stopped in the the sushi queen for a bit of breakfast last Saturday. Tired the Carne Asada/Egg Burrito and then decided to try a trio of taco’s, Carnitas, Pastor and Fish. First about the salsa; Was that Pace Picante with a little Fresh Cilantro added to what you buy from the Restaurant Supply? For crying out loud, your a Mexican restaurant. If you cant get the Salsa even close what’s the point? Meat in the Burrito was of poor quality, Carnitas were flavorless and dry, Fish was boring, fortunately the Pastor had some flavor. So they were 1 for 4. Not going back.

This little restaurant has a ton of funk in its trunk – in a good way. You walk through the door and *BAM* your eyes are drenched in a riot of colors – brilliant green booths, hot pink walls, red, yellow, and green TJ-style chairs. Scanning the room you’ll see that the walls are decorated with Viva Zapata posters, a Corona tapestry, and a Mexican flag. You can order takeaway from the counter at the front of the restaurant or seat yourself at a booth or table for waitress service. It’s fairly large for a strip mall joint – several large booths and tables to accomodate 6+, half a dozen smaller booths, many 4-person tables as well as a counter with bar stools at the front of the restaurant for solo diners. They have a BIG menu that reads more like«Mexican restaurant» than«fast food joint.» If you can’t find the Mexican food you want to eat, it doesn’t exist. They’ve got your typical tacos and burritos but also mole chicken(yum!), pozole, menudo, ceviche – and more. They’ve also got an assortment of natural juices(including Vampiro!), plus soda, wine, and beer. I noted that they also serve breakfast burritos, omelettes, pancakes, french toast, and interesting combos(huevos rancheros, machaca, chorizo, and noaplitos). Although I was hungry, I decided to order from the A la Carta menu. I’m glad I did. I got 2 carnitas tacos and a soda for $ 7. The tacos came with chips and salsa – definitely filled my belly. The salsa is spicy and flavorful. I’m more of a fan of pico de gallo than salsa, but their salsa was really tasty. Added the perfect kick to the tacos. The tacos were restaurant quality but nothing outstandingly amazing about them. Shell + meat + taco + cheese. The meat was a little dry and tough but I’m kind of glad because the tacos weren’t super greasy. The one thing I didn’t enjoy is the television playing«America’s Funniest Home Videos» at a SCREAMINGLY loud volume. There was no where you could sit to avoid listening to its chatter. I took my food to go. I think I’ll be back to try Taco Tuesday. Maybe make this a regular takeaway fav.

Went for Taco Tuesday. 3 tacos for $ 5. Bigger tacos than most TT spots, but this is a restaurant setting instead of the normal grab and go tacos for TT. Everything was okay. We were the only ones there at 4 on a Tuesday. Had the tres leches came for dessert. Also okay. Prob not my fav TT deal around, but not bad either.

El Sabor De Mi Tierra is close to my work, but I have only eaten there a few times before. My recent visit reminded me why. Taco Tuesday is three tacos for $ 5, and the tacos were larger than 90% of other tuesday-style tacos I have eaten. I chose carnitas, I picked up some shredded beef for my buddy at work. His tacos had lettuce, tomatoes and shredded cheese, it didn’t look that good, but he said it was ‘grub’. Apparently ‘grub’ means really good. My tacos had cilantro, onions and salsa, and served on corn tortillas. They were gross. The carnitas was very dry, so dry that I thought maybe I had offended one of the employees.

Excellent family owned restaurant. Love coming here for Taco Tuesday — three huge tacos for $ 5.00. Your choice of machaca, carnitas, chorizo and chicken. Did I say huge? Oh my gosh, I am stuffed with two. Thank goodness my hubby helps me by eating one of mine! Very good! Love their chips and salsa. Haven’t had anything bad here yet. Breakfast was good as well. Been a while since I have come here for breakfast so, I will update my review after I dine here for breakfast. Excellent service and cozy, colorful décor. Food — 5 stars Service — 5 stars Ambiance — 5 stars Will be back as often as I can!

I had the combinacion plata with chicken enchilada with the green sauce, black beans. The rice is light and fluffy. The black beans were soupy. The green sauce is divine. My wife had the red sauce and we both preferred the green. Their homemade tortilla chips are fresh and crunchy. The salsa is actually pretty hot. I had a big glass of Horchata(rice milk) and it helped quench the fire between bites. Service on Saturday night is fast and great. The restaurant can seat 54, and the décor is pretty with the bright, primary Mexican colors of green, yellow, and red. The place was not very busy for a Saturday night.

I’ve been on a hunt for a decent breakfast burrito in the OC– I’ve tried dozens, all disappointing. Made it to Mi Tierra this morning, I got the bacon burrito(add potatoes), husband got the machaca burrito, and we both got their fresh juice(me: carrot, orange, beet, celery and husband: carrot orange). Their bacon breakfast burrito was very good, the best I’ve had in OC. It wasn’t very greasy, but was moist, cheesy, warm and bacony. The portion is good– it’s a big burrito. The machaca burrito, while not my thing, was also good. Lots of beef, and good eggs. The juices were very nice– made fresh in front of us. The lady didn’t add ice, which gives you more juice, but it’s not cold. The service was great– although we got everything to go, the cashier was super friendly. We’ll be back.

Went here the other night with friends who live in the area. This is one of their favorite places to go and I now know why. I’m now a fan. Walking in, the place is colorful with a good amount of seating. A few large booths and long tables along with smaller tables. A few tables outside as well. Looking at their specials, I decided to get the Mexipizza. A nicely fried and crispy tortilla is topped with a very tasty amount of flavors. Chorizo, grilled peppers, chili, beans, cheese, a big scoop of guacamole, and more. I made a mess and it was good! My friend’s favorites are the menudo and the molcajette. The desserts are just as good to. Have to try those next time. Service was friendly and attentive. Can’t wait to go back to this place.

Have only eaten here once. I stopped in for lunch after working out at the 24 Hour fitness, which is located across the street. I had read in someone’s review that this place offered low carb tacos, so I felt compelled to try them. It’s Tuesday, so I ordered the 3 for $ 5 taco special. For an extra 50 cents each, I had the tacos upgraded to double meat.(See picture.) These tacos were really good! I’ve found a new home for Mexican food. Basically, the low carb tacos are meat and spices wrapped in Iceberg lettuce. You kind of have to eat the tacos with knife and fork because the lettuce isn’t strong enough to hold the meat — well, at least not the double meat — but the meat was really flavorful without being too greasy. Highly recommended for anyone trying to keep their carbs low. You know how hard it is to eat Mexican food on a low carb diet! Recommended!

el sabor de mi tierra… Hmmm… I eat a fair amount of mexican or latin food… The menu has alot on it… maybe some good. But I had a Chile Relleno burrito… and it was… just a burrito… no pop… no flavor actually… white rice black beans… lets just say there is another«mom and pop» place close by that I feel taste wise is alot better… the Salsa even seemed dare I say from a bottle…

I thought the food here was really good. They offer lettuce-wrapped tacos which is great if you are trying to eat lighter. I had a few different tacos wrapped in lettuce and have to say the grilled fish taco was delish. My husband’s burrito was also tasty. The chips were disappointing. I think it’s weird that there is a counter but if you are eating there you get table service. I’d be fine with ordering at the counter and seating myself… This might be a 3-star place, but I gave it the 4th because I am a fan of the lettuce-wrapped option. It’s nice to add another place to my list where I can keep it light!

Mi Tierra is a diamond. The décor is simple with a rustic mexican country feel. Family owned and operated. Their entire family may indeed serve you with a smile. More ethnic than typical socal mex, you can enjoy harder to find items such as nopalitos(Cactus) with eggs, and seafood molcajetes. Breakfast is a home run, in particular when you add a fresh squeezed juice called the«vampiro» for 2 $. The vampiro contains the fresh squeezed fruit and veggies of the day but usually consists of beets, apple, carrot and orange. Their pricing has recently gone up from near a non profit restaurant to $ 6.99 combo meals. At breakfast this includes two eggs scrambled with tomatoes, jalapenos, onions and cilantro. Your choice of potatoes, black or pinto beans, and or rice.

Eat here often, say once a week. taco tuesday special — 3 for $ 5. good tacos, soft or deep fried. quesadillas are awesome — try the picadilla. The Molcajette special is crazy, two kinds of meat, sauté’d in veges, salsa and peppers. Gut buster, but great. try it.

I love mexican food. Actually I love real authentic mexican food. Today I had breakfast here at Mi Tierra(open at 8 a.m. for breakfast). I was craving huevos a la mexicana. It’s basically scrambled eggs with tomatoes, onions, cilantro, jalapenos. There are beans and mexican rice on the side and you eat it with tortillas and salsa. It’s a hefty breakfast. For me, it reminds me of the many trips I took to rural mexican villages when I was in college. The mexican families would typically serve us this dish for breakfast. Mi Tierra served it the same way. My husband swears the breakfast burritos are the best«in all the land.» He had the burrito asada con huevos. I would have given it 5 stars but since I’ve only had breakfast there(and to go), I couldn’t tell you how the service was or how the rest of the menu was. Looking at the other Unilocal,I am looking forward to returning for lunch. I’ll be back!

I LOVELOVELOVE this place. I used to go here all the time with my dad and I stopped for a while. Went here on Saturday with the bf for some good old comfort food after a loooooong day at work. I remember why I used to come here all the time. Its by far some of the best, most amazing Mexican food out there. Just like mama makes it! Its totally Mexican and every single way. Here’s what I got: Posole: Yum yum yum yum YUM! Just what I needed Perfectly cooked and seasoned. Full of flavor. Yummy pork and hominy. All over deliciousness in my mouth. Qhesadillas: I got a chicken and a cheese one(2 total) and they were also yumy! I will say that the chicken one was better than the plain cheese one though. Just one of those things. Over all great! If you’re looking for some delicious, authentic Mexican food that’s not all greasy, come here. Actually just COMEHEREANYWAYS.
