I came to the Design center and asked for referral of an interior designer in March, they referred someone whom I found out later that she was not even on the center’s registered designer list. I had such a painful experience dealing with her. She asked me to pay for Sculptures and Bench in May, and promised the lead time for 30 days(starting from May). But, the result is that it has not been delivered till now(Oct.5th)! I wanted to cancel the order and get money back, but it is not happening either. She kept making all kinds of excuses and refuse to return the money back. When I asked for help from Design Center, they said that they can’t help with it. I’m still wondering why they referred someone who was not an registered designer in their center? and obviously they don’t know her very well?

This is an enclave of about forty, high end design centers. Some space is dedicated to a single brand, while other spaces are stocked as residential line showrooms. Private visitors are welcome, but purchases are generally handled through design professionals. An individual’s visit here is a great alternative to browsing glossy magazines before hiring a designer.

Am I allowed to shop here? I don’t know, I doubt I’ll ever try to. I know I’m allowed to go inside the shops, but I doubt I ever will as I’ll just stick to window shopping because this is definitely the type of place my wallet considers«look but don’t touch.» So who do I go here? Well, first there’s the café. Then it’s about 2 miles from my office and beats going to the Aliso Viejo Town Center all the time. It’s quite a stark contrast: un-chainy, not crowded at all, and so easy to park. Lastly, it’s just a nice place to take in the atmosphere, look around, enjoy the outdoors, maybe take a mini-walk, and have some peace. In some ways it’s basically like a little garden, there are a few places to sit outside and some statues and fountains. As for the Unilocal Price Range section, is there a place I can add a 5th $ sign?

This is the place where you can purchase the furniture you see in the magazines! I’m guessing nearly 40 High end stores– most expensive, covering all styles. Most stores you don’t have to be an interior decorator to purchase goods or you can go to the center’s office & they’ll assist with purchases. Center is very well kept and a nice experience. Small café located in center with homemade soups and sandwiches, etc. Highly recommended if you have the budget.

A premier resource for Southern California design professionals looking for a variety of options in design. LDC is free and open to the public for browsing, Monday through Friday from 9:00AM until 5:00PM. The center offers one-stop shopping for designers in Southern California. Every showroom sets their own purchasing policy. Generally, purchases are made through a design professional or buying service. This beautiful garden setting provides free parking and stress free shopping for your convince.

I had the privilege of attending Laguna Design Center’s annual Market Day — speakers, product launches, and various demonstrations of the newest from the interior design world(plus free food and champagne). The design center itself is really pretty — an outdoor courtyard with a fountain, patio seating, and a large atrium area perfect for presentations. The crème de la crème of the furniture and textiles world are displayed here — Baker Knapp & Tubbs, Century, Ralph Lauren, Kravet, Scalamandre, Ann Sacks… most showrooms are open to the trade only and offer luxury furniture and design services. Beautiful location, great to look around to get some inspiration as many of the showrooms are pretty much functional galleries.
