This place was on my to do list during my recent vacation to Maui. What I didn’t know was how many locations there are. I just happened to visit the one located on Wharf Street located near Front Street and not too far from the original Maui Divers location(640 Front St). I found the selection at this location to be large, but to be honest, I didn’t really take a look at everything. There was a display case of pendants in the shape of bamboo that caught my eye so I didn’t look at anything else too closely. I bought a pink gold bamboo pendant. It was $ 400 and yes, while it was pricey for a souvenir I figured I should get something I really, really love. No box of Hawaiian Host Chocolates for me… I wanted something special to remember the vacation by. They have a wide selection of pearls, black coral pieces and lots of gold. There’s an item for a wide variety of budgets, so for price range I would rate it two to four stars. The Unilocal $ meter doesn’t quite capture this accurately. I found the service to be superb, Tyrone helped me out and he was helpful and I didn’t feel pressured at all. With every purchase you can choose an oyster and keep the pearl(s) for free. You have your choice, either white, black, pink or gold pearls to choose from… I’m not sure how they know which oyster will produce that color pearl, but it’s separated out in different bins. I chose pink and ended up with two pearls. I had them made into stud earrings on the spot. The pearls are free but the you pay for the gold posts… I chose white gold and paid $ 80, but labor is free. But here’s the kicker, because I bought more jewelry I was given another oyster. Second time around I chose gold colored pearls and guess what? I ended up with two pearls again. I didn’t have them made into stud earrings; that would mean I would get another free oyster… Quick tip regarding the gold pearls… Maui Divers will discontinue offering the oysters that produce that color pearl. I had a great experience with Maui Divers and will go there again when I’m back.
