9am on Tuesday morning, I call Piliani Kope Farms asking about their tour schedule. Susi answered the phone and asked«Are you in a place where you could hop in the car? Come on by, we’ll start the tour when you get here.» Susi and Greg Stille developed Piliani Kope Farm, a sustainable coffee farm, from the ground up. Having participated in brewery tours and winery tours, but never a coffee tour, I had no idea what I was getting myself into. If you are interested in sustainable farming, symbiotic agriculture, and learning about how the coffee you are drinking got to your favorite mug, visit Piliani Kope Farm. Greg and Susy will take care of you jut the way they did us. By the end of our tour, Greg and Susy felt like family. And, yes, we did hug when I left. Tours: Tours are scheduled on Tuesday and Thursday from 9 – 10:30am and cost $ 10/person. Tours include a tasting of their in-house roasted coffee. In June of 2013, they had a city roast(medium) and french roast(dark). During harvest(ranging from late August to early February), extended tours are offered lasting 3 hours. Extended tours during harvest cost $ 45/person and include a coffee bean roasting and lunch.
