Today my son and I had the opportunity to volunteer and hand out food and presents to families. Rita that runs the family service department was amazing! She works so hard and has that place ran like a well oiled machine. She made my son and I feel comfortable and at home. If it wasn’t for her kindness we may have never shared this experience together. It was our first time volunteering for the Salvation Army and we cat wait to do it again.

This Family Thrift Store doesn’t look like much from the outside but inside it looks cleaner and more cared for. Not a huge selection of clothing but they do have items outside(mostly household and outdoor activity gear and equipment). After coming to this little thrift store I learned never to judge a book by it’s cover!

I’ve given this place several chances to redeem itself. I was boycotting this location last year, finally gave in, and decided to try again this past week. Once again the old man cashier was totally rude to customers(not me because I left without buying anything). They have a good selection of Halloween costumes, and the prices are reasonable, but I just cannot spend my money at a place that has such rude, terrible customer service. Don’t ask them to plug something in to make sure if works before buying it. Don’t ask for any help or assistance whatsoever. You will be yelled at. Oh and definitely don’t ask them to hold any large items like a big flower vase for you at the counter while you continue to shop. No. Unless you really love verbal abuse, stay away from this«salvation» army.

Hard to find small for a SA thrift. Well organized clothes hung and tagged. Usual very reasonable SA prices. I was looking for baby clothes they had very little but I did manage to find some new bibs and t shirts I needed. Lots of men’s and women’s aloha shirts great brands for 6 – 9 dollars. Lots of nice men’s board shorts and women’s shorter board shorts, foxy billabong etc. limited kitchen ware and table ware but like 20 newer coffee pots. Lots of hardly used snorkel gear. Lots of books.

I found some nice treasures here during our stay in Maui, very reasonable rates and the cashier was so nice! TIP: if you are unable to park in the small lot or on the street there is a huge lot for public parking for a fee.

Small location so tight on space. If you are prepared to dig there are some great deals on all items.

Compared to the other SA thrift stores on the island, this is by far the worse of the bunch. The entrance to the store is not clearly marked. Took about a few good minutes to figure out where the thrift store entrance was. Once in, the store is cramped and semi-disorganized. Very few signs indicating what was what. Some areas are an organized mess. One person can literally block aisles. I didn’t see no Mens clothing. There is a couple of outdoor areas with furniture and sporting goods, but the adjacent smells permeates the area. Some of the furniture is one surprise rainstorm away from turning into junk due to the inadequate shelter. I’m wondering if the mattresses, since they are outside, could harbor bugs. I did find some DVD’s and waited«in line» to cash out. The cashier served two women in front of me and then leaves, making me wait at the counter for sometime without an explanation before she comes back, ONTHEPHONE. She’s on the phone while trying to figure out how much I should pay for the DVD’s. At least I got a good deal. Sorta. Parking looks to be bad. Aside from the limited parking slots in front, you got street parking and a nearby pay lot. Unless I get a good lead to make it worthwhile to go back, i’m avoiding this and going elsewhere.

Cool purchases! 1. snorkels at 2 bucks a pop 2. two t-shirts in great condition 3. a mystery novel Great place to buy golf shirts for your male friends from local courses. Check it out if you’re sick of other overpriced nearby stores.

Not a fan of SA’s homophobic stance. That being said, this is a place that I frequent while on island. It is hit or miss like all second hand stores, but when you find that bargain that you really need, it’s a winner. Wander in and take a look see. Tell Keith… Julie sent ya.

Had no idea that when Don Ho sang«down by the shack by the sea» he was referring to the SA in Lahaina. This little dump really does have some great aloha shirts etc. Scored 5 shirts for 20 bucks. All xxl and all«made in Hawaii». Would have been over 200 bucks new. Don’t mind the cramped quarters and look of the outside. The best thing other than saving alot of money is that you are helping a great cause.
