I met with Terri in Montana at inpatient psychiatric care. She was really great and kind, especially when I needed someone to help me sort out life. My medication was altered by her and it was the best change I had. She not only changed my meds, but also talked to me about coping skills and how to have a better outlook on life. Her diagnosis was perfect and when I met with the psychiatrist the next week– I already felt a step ahead. Wish I lived closer to her office– I would definitely be seeing her! She is a great person and a caring doctor.

Quite a while ago, when I lived in Lahaina I wrote a review about Terri and it was«flagged» I guess, maybe it seemed like Terri herself wrote it, I don’t know.anyway. This particular part of Maui was sorely lacking in Mental Health professionals. My experience was, quite the opposite of what the other reviewer found, that Terri was in fact very progressive. Terri asked the right questions and truly listened to me and together we figured out the best course of action. Terri prescribed a medication that was more or less«off label» for depression(I have tried too many to count over the years with no real or lasting change) two years later I feel better than I ever thought I was capable of feeling. I am beyond thankful and grateful that circumstance and chance brought me to her.

It is harsh that there are so few MD psychiatrists on Maui, and that’s why I contacted Terri Squires even though she is not an MD. I came to her with my own intelligent and innovative ideas about treatment, because I’ve academically studied emotional health issues. Unfortunately, Terri Squires was not progressive or sophisticated enough to see the validity of my approach, and was totally focused on prescribing questionable pharma meds that have severe side-effects and don’t have a good track record for helping people. Then, two business days before my appointment, she told me I didn’t have an appointment scheduled, even though I had an email from her with the appointment date and time confirmed! I was also VERY disappointed that Terri Squires does not take insurance of any kind. She forced me to do the work that would normally be done by a medical office staff, so I could see if my insurance company would reimburse for her charges. It became obvious that her main agendas are to put you on pills and to bill you as much as possible and make you pay her out of your own pocket. We all wish that more progressive, professional, and holistic psychiatric medical doctors would open practices here on Maui. People who will work with your insurance and who try to find other remedies instead of automatically relying on pharmaceuticals. If you’re looking for something other than an immediate reliance on pharmaceutical meds, Terri Squires isn’t going to help you at all. It’s easy to see that Terri Squires is primarily interested in $$$$, not what’s best for patients like you and me. I just read her response to my complaint, and she is dishonest in her response. Of course I never had an appointment with her, because she canceled on me without any good reason, and was more interested in making sure she’d get paid than in helping me. She says in her response that she’s into natural therapies, but that’s not what she told me. She said that she’d put me on one of four pharmaceuticals, and that’s all she offered. She’s a hack. And I got the help I needed by going to an Ayurvedic doctor and by exercising. You don’t need the kind of expensive«help» that people like Teri Squires offer!
