Wow! That’s the 1-word review i heartily give this wonderful bed and breakfast! Tanna is an amazing host and has created an amazing oasis of beauty and tranquility at the Maui Guest House. She’s thought of everything, from saltwater hot tubs in each room, to the saltwater pool outside, double suntanning/leisure areas outside, beautiful lighting everywhere, a fully stocked kitchen with coffee, fruit and delicious pastries in the morning, to an enormous collection of DVDs and books, and so much more. The entire place is kept sparkling clean and beautiful and very reasonably priced. We stayed here for 2 nights and thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. We will certainly be back next time, and we can’t give this precious hidden gem high enough ratings — AMAZING!!!

We were a little bit skeptical about staying in a bed and breakfast for our honeymoon because we wanted to make sure we’d have a lot of privacy. The Maui guest house was perfect! The staff was so helpful, Barbara covered everything we needed to have the perfect stay in Maui. Besides breakfast, we spent most of our time one on one. The rooms are so cute with a Hawaiian feel and we were able to have a romantic time with a bottle of wine and our own private hot tub. The location is great and we were so happy we took the staff’s advice to borrow a tour guide CD when we drove the Road to Hana, and to go to the Old Original Luau. We had the most wonderful experience, with memories of our honeymoon to last a lifetime.

Spent the last two days of our honeymoon here in 2010. Wonderful hosts and rooms. Hot tub in each room with a large flat screen tv and a huge library of dvds. So many extras. Beach towels, washer and dryer, huge kitchen with lots of spices and condiments to use. Small or large coolers for day trips. Snorkles, fins, beach chairs, first aid kit and toiletries. Your own refrigerator in each room. Ice bottles for the cooler. Great breakfast spread. Free wifi or use their guest computer. Salt water pool, outdoor dining sets, BBQ, and hammock. So close to the resorts and downtown Lahinia. The host is a licensed booking agent for all Maui related activities. 10% discount. Large rooms with gorgeous private bathrooms and patios or lanias. Open shared space for kitchen, dining, and living rooms. We booked last min and were so lucky they had one room available. Ocean view from deck. We met the other guests who were from other countries and very sweet. The only thing I will say is that they have AC but it’s a little noisy. You can turn it off though. They have many reviews on trip advisor. We will be back!

We ended our island hopping trip with a final night back on Maui. We stayed at The Maui Guest House B&B, hosted by Tanna. Tanna was very responsive over email and phone while helping me booking the night at the last minute. We got to the B&B fairly late at night(10pm), Tanna was up to receive us. She made us feel very welcome from the moment we stepped into the house. She showed us around our room as well as the common area, got us drinks, and told us about the breakfast. Next day(since we are only staying one night and have an evening flight), Tanna offered to let us store our luggage in the house as well as use the common area bathroom. We took her up on the offer, which made our last day on the island a lot easier. The house is gorgeous inside and out. The front yard has a small pool and a patio area with a couple of patio tables(with umbrellas overhead) as well as a hammock. The living room is huge. It’s connected to the kitchen/dining area. There is also a family room type of area in the back of the house. We stayed in the room in the back of the house. The room was very well appointed. There is a queen bed, as well as this sleeping area next to the bed that can accommodate one additional person. There is a large screen LCD tv mounted on the wall so you can watch tv from the comfort of the bed(there is a huge dvd library in the living room). The attached in-suite bathroom is nice. The suite also has its own private screened patio in the back yard of the house. There is a couple of lounger chairs, as well as a hottub that’s only for us to use! Tanna said her and the staff usually have the breakfast ready around seven something in the morning. They did have a pretty nice spread that we enjoyed: beverages(milk and juices in the fridge, coffee/tea), muffins/bread/bagel, a very nice fruit platter, cereal. The house is about 2 miles from the commercial/touristy central area of Lahaina. It’s about 40 – 50 minute drive from the main Kahului airport. It’s pretty easy to find, either use google maps or follow the directions provided on the B&B’s website. Unilocal currently has very few b&b reviews for hawaii. tripadvisor on the other hand has much better review coverage and density. hopefully this review will help get more Unilocal users to stay at the Maui Guest House and write reviews. For the Unilocal travelers out there, when you are researching Hawaii b&b options, i recommend that in addition to looking at Unilocal reviews, also check out tripadvisor. go to tripadvisor, in the search box type in the island you are looking at, e.g. «maui hawaii». the first entry in the search result should be the main tripadvisor page for that island. click through to it. on it you should see fairly close to the top, a short list of the top b&b’s on the island. click on the link«All XXX b&b’s» to see all the b&b’s — this list is extremely useful because it is sorted by rating. I found this b&b that way — Maui Guest House is currently the 4th top ranked b&b on maui.
