I’ve been out on Woody’s boat a few times over the years and it’s just awesome! He really knows the water around Maui and he is super chill. You will have a fun day if you go out with him and his crew. Sometimes you can fish along the way too! The boat is very clean and well maintained also so you should have a stress free, fun filled day on the ocean.

Sitting on the beach is one way to experience Maui. But by far the only real way to understand the Ocean and life as it relates to the island is through Woody.
He is high touch with service above any snorkel, dive, ski, boat service period. We have been with Woody 4 times over 10 year period and he has consistently been beyond expectation. It’s truly an all ages amazing intro into what the ocean has to offer in a friendly accommodating way.

I spent a lot of time on Unilocal and Tripadvisor researching snorkel charter reviews, and went with Captain Woody. Boy, was that a good decision. Captain Woody and his crew, Terryn and Chris, were friendly, knowledgeable about seemingly everything to do with Hawaii, and dedicated to ensuring my family had a great time.
I appreciated the fact that Woody keeps the passenger count to a maximum of 6 – it makes for a much more personalized and intimate experience. We passed by many larger boats crowded with tourists huddled together in their own groups and not interacting with anybody next to them. The boat crews seemed to just dump those snorkelers and leave them to their own devices. Captain Woody and his crew, on the other hand, snorkeled with us, even offering to take pictures of and for us. They also knew where to swim to find Sea Turtles and dolphins, and we got to swim right next to both! (According to Woody it’s pretty unusual to be able to swim next to the dolphins, so don’t go expecting it).
On top of providing an AMAZING snorkeling experience, Woody and his crew were a blast to hang out with. It truly felt like we were a group of buddies hanging out on a sick boat in Maui, rather than a family being toted around by a crew just looking forward to the pay check. Also, it must be said that the food was delicious. Great variety of sandwich fixings, salads, and fresh fruit. Yum!
I recommend going with Woody toward the beginning of your stay on Maui, as his and his crew’s knowledge about the island is really helpful in planning other activities.
Snorkeling with Captain Woody and his crew was one of the high points of my family’s trip to Maui. It’s well worth the money. Mahalo Woody, Terryn and Chris!

Went on my first snorkeling trip with these guys 4 years ago. They were recommended by our hotel concierge because we preferred going with a smaller group. Who wants to go snorkeling with 20 people splashing all around you? Anyway, the experience was awesome! Woody and his crew are very knowledgeable. They are certified divers and they make you feel secure out in the ocean. They are also great people to hang out with.
The boat ride was relaxing. Especially since it was beautiful everywhere you looked. And they have a toilet on the boat. That might be a plus for a lot of people. They served up some really yummy sandwiches for lunch and fruits to snack on during the trip. We went to the best spots. At one point, there were about a dozen giant sea turtles popping up left and right at one of the spots. Got really up close and personal. It definitely made Maui a trip to remember.
This winter, we returned to Maui with a couple of friends. So naturally we had to book a snorkeling trip with Woody. We weren’t disappointed. We saw huge spotted rays while snorkeling the Mala pier which was sunk by a hurricane in the 90s. It was also whale-​watching season and we saw a bunch of humpbacks. Mom with it’s calf and a group of males chasing after a female. Our friends have never been on a snorkeling trip. They were apprehensive, at first. Now, they’re talking about coming back and doing it again. So next time you’re in Maui, go check out Woody’s. It’s like having a buddy that owns a boat.

Woody and Chris did an awesome job. We saw spinner dolphins, snorkeled in some amazing areas, and even got a lovely catered lunch. Both Woody and Chris were knowledgeable and informative about Maui and all the beauties within.

Don’t try anyone else. Woody knows the business and delivers a fantastic experience. Nice boat, great locations, good food.

We are visiting Maui for two weeks — had made reservation with Captain Woody prior to leaving for Hawaii. In the first hour of our trip last week we had an important question «do you have an opening before we leave».
The four of us went out with Captain Woody and his first mate Chris twice in the last week and loved it both times. They are the best deal on the island (worth every penny). We booked the entire boat for just the four of us each time.
We snorkled with reef shark, got a «maui mugging» from a mom and baby whate, saw more turtles than we could count, viewed large surf from the very best angle — whales, dolphins, turtles, fish, surf, shark, great lunch — two of our best days ever.

If you want to go on a snorkel trip and don’t like big crowds or just want more personalized service than you should charter your own boat! Captain Woody’s boat to be exact.
