I had an issue with my 2011 macbook air trackpad and because of some water damage and corrosion issues, the apple store wouldn’t touch it unless I paid the flat 750 dollar service fee. Based on the Unilocal reviews I went to Gene to see if I could get a more reasonable price. He was AMAZING and these reviews are 100% accurate. He not only checked it out for me(he spent over 30 minutes with me checking it out and didn’t even charge me), but he also did offer me to fix it for a much, much more reasonable price than the mac store. He also was completely honest with me and told me it might be more worth it to use this one(since other than the trackpad and battery its still working) until I got a new one. He walked me through how to save money getting an open box mac which would save me hundreds of dollars and offered to buy the parts of my mac if I do decide to get a new one, which made getting a new mac a MUCH more affordable option. He is amazing whether I choose to repair it or get a new one he has earned my business and going forward I will do all my repairs here.

If you need help with your Mac and are looking to work with someone who will spend the time with you to figure out the best path to fix it, then i would HIGHLY recommend MACypher. Gene is incredibly service oriented, really knows his stuff, and i super generous with his time. he also has very reasonable prices. Gene helped us upgrade our 2011 macbook pro with an SSD and more RAM for my son who was going to college(it now runs like a brand new computer!). when my son stopped in to pick it up, Gene sat down with him for an hour to walk him through his entire system set up to ensure he didn’t have any glitches once he moved away. who does that anymore? Gene does! we are now loyal customers. thank you Gene!

I don’t usually take the time to review services on Unilocal,but I was so impressed by Gene’s expertise and service that I have to give him a shout-out. I walked in with a dead 2010 Macbook Pro on my first day of a job that depended on that machine. I called MACypher in a panic and Gene told me to come on in. He spent at least 30 minutes carefully troubleshooting the problem, and then walked me through the options which led to purchasing a new computer. He even helped me figure out what and where to purchase my new Macbook Pro. Then I had to take a conference call in his shop, so he set me up with WiFi and a chair. When I asked Gene what I owed him, he said there was no charge for the troubleshooting. Wow. I wish there were more people like Gene in the world. He will have all my family’s business in the future.

My wife’s MacBook was powering off periodically, based on Unilocal!Reviews we found MACypher. Gene is extremely friendly and knowledgeable. He spent about 20 minutes of his time telling us how to fix the issue and didn’t charge us a dime. Going forward, we will always goto MACypher. He gave us a quote for us to install a new hard drive, and back up all of our files, but advised us of how to do it. I would say the Unilocal!Reviews are extremely accurate and this is a great place to go for Mac Product servicing.

Gene(owner) at MACypher is a real stand-up guy, and he looks out for the customer before he attempts to make money off of them. After an unfortunate water spill on my 13″ MacBook Pro, I thought I only had the option of turning it over the Apple store for their $ 750 fix-it fee. It’s not a bad deal, but it wasn’t my best option. Gene walked me through the process of hunting down an Open-box Mac at a big box store and then gave me almost full credit towards AppleCare in exchange for the still working components of my old Macbook(2 years old). He even help port my data from the harddrive to the new at no charge as well. Additionally, my girlfriend was also able to use Gene to help fix her screen problems and replace her battery in her Macbook. He did this using old parts, saving her hundreds of dollars. If you have had problems of any sort with your Mac computers, I would at least bring them in here first!

The guys at MACypher know their stuff. I brought my 2009 Macbook Pro 13 inch in because the disk drive stopped working. I was given a range of options, including buying a used disk drive for only $ 75, and it came with a 30 day warranty. Just one hour of labor, easy as pie. Actually, I had spilled milk on the computer a few years prior, so the drive was stuck to the top case and there was the potential for even greater damage due to the stickiness of the residue left between the top case and the drive. But MACypher was able to fix it no problem. They even fixed a loose key on my keyboard for free!!! Don’t bother going to an Apple store or a Best Buy where you’ll wait forever, deal with a potentially unknowledgeable staff, and pay more than you should. Go to MACypher.

I got very tired of going to the Apple store in Northbrook and dealing with«Geniuses» so after looking around I found the perfect combination of service, price and attitude here at MACypher.
