Fury Ram Truck Center

Let me start out by saying, I love my vehicle, but if I didn’t, I would have walked away. My old vehicle’s engine blew while I still had about $ 5000 left to pay on it. I had to find a specific vehicle that had enough value in it to be able to finance with my bank for both the new and previous loan. I saw a vehicle at Fury that I liked on Autotrader. I also investigated and saw it on
and Fury’s website. All three sites advertise the price at $ 13,998. The little * next to the price confirmed it did not include tax, title, license, blah blah. Standard language.
I accidentally go to the Lake Elmo site instead of the Stillwater site where the vehicle actually was (Autotrader listed the Lake Elmo site). One of the salesmen there said instead of me going to the Stillwater site to deal with those «yahoos» he would help me and take me there. He of course wanted the sale. I’d do the same, no big deal. Note that I explained no less than three times about my loan to value problem because I had to roll in my other loan. We get there, I test drive the car, I like the car, so he drives it back for me to the Lake Elmo site. I put a $ 500 hold on it to give me 24 hours to research the value, talk to my bank, and see if there are better deals out there. My fiancé comes back with me that evening to test drive it again. We talk numbers. Apparently the listed $ 13,998 is ONLY if you finance through them. Oooohkaayy, I read all the fine print and never saw that anywhere. New price was $ 1000 more. Salesman said he could absolutely NOT change that price. I tried to negotiate but no go. He eventually did say he could take off the $ 152 for some of the fees.
After much discussion with my fiancé and a call to my bank, we decided to save the $ 1000 and finance through Fury. My interest rate at my bank was 3.99% and Fury thought theirs would be around 5.5% (we would refinance anyway after 6 payments). Next day, I call the salesman and confirm we would finance through them. He told me to fill out the online form to expedite. We talked three times on the phone confirming what documents I needed to bring in. At one point, he asked if I was going to trade in my junk car or not. I told him no, we were going to salvage since I’d get a few hundred more dollars.
I arrive with my fiancé that afternoon. Finance guy comes in and says my interest rate would be 7%, but it isn’t a big deal with a loan this small. Small loan? It’s around $ 20,000. Come to find out, the salesman told finance guy that because we weren’t trading in the car, we didn’t want the loan rolled over into the new one. I said, what did one thing have to do with the other? Who would pay two car loans when they can roll it into one? The financer’s friendly attitude definitely turned at that point. «Well, ma’am, in the car business, when you say you aren’t trading in, that means you aren’t rolling anything into a new loan. That’s how it works in the car business.» And now, because of the loan to value problem, he thinks my interest is going to be 10% if they even will finance me. I told them it would have been really great to know this earlier today so I could have talked with MY bank to get everything in order. I also asked him why I am getting quoted 3.99% by my bank and 10% by them when my bank has pretty stringent credit requirements. He replies «With all due respect, ma’am, [name of my bank] puts questionable things through all the time.» and continues to bad mouth my bank (which is amazing, by the way).
So I call my bank with the $ 14,998 amount, confirm all is good, and Fury drafts up a purchase agreement. Before sending it to the bank, they show me the agreement and it is for the original $ 13,998 and not the new amount I was to pay, which was $ 14,998. I thought they were doing something really nice. The salesman even commented after the financer left the room that «someone was going to lose their jobs over this [the change in cost]». I was told to confirm this amount to the bank, so I called extremely excited, got the new monthly payment, and they approved this amount. I go to sign the documents after he faxes the copy to the bank, and the financer relooks at them and says «oh, I made a mistake. I have to draft a new one with the $ 14,998 amount.» Seriously? He told me «that’s what happens when you have two sales going at once. I confused the other lady I’m helping with you two. I told the lady she needed her husband with her to sign but I was thinking about you guys when I said that.» Lovely.
He redoes the document yet again, sends it to my bank, and the price comes out to $ 100 more than what the salesman and I agreed to yesterday (he had said we could waive the $ 152). I explained that to the financer, and he said he didn’t care what the salesman said, I have to pay those fees. Wow, ok. I told him how ridiculous this place is run and how I just got screwed three times in two hours. But at least I have a nice running car now…

This place is horrible! Worst management team EVER! they like to low ball people’s trade in and ect. Vehicles don’t go threw much cleaning and the detailers Suck! The way they talk to employees is horrible also!

Wow… talk about a bunch of incompetent people. From the minute we walked in to door to now, STILL waiting for our plates to arrive, this place has been nothing but a cluster.
The only good thing I can say about this dealership is that I got my Jeep Grand Cherokee at a really good price. However, given the all the crap I’m having to sludge through in regards to the entire buying process, I’m wondering if the savings were even worth it. My experience with the dealership has been nothing but a mess. I’ve bought four cars and a scooter prior to this vehicle, so I’m not new to the buying market. I would have to say that my experience with this dealership was by far the worst. I think the finance guy Jeff, is the only competent person working there.
I’ll start at the beginning. On a Saturday evening, I had called to inquire about a Jeep that I had seen on
. I talked with Jen, the internet sales manager, and she had just left the dealership but told me that the Jeep was still there when she had left for the evening. She encouraged me to call her back on Monday morning to see if it was still there, mostly to save me a trip from Rochester if it happened to have sold after she had left. I appreciated that. When my husband and I arrived at the dealership, we asked for Jen and were told by the gentleman wandering around the showroom that she was outside. I then asked what she looked like, since I had no idea, and he just told me that she had blonde hair. And then he just stood there. So I was left to assume that I was to go outside and wander around the lot looking for a woman with blonde hair. He didn’t offer to have her paged. Luckily before I got outside, Jen happened to come in.
She walked my husband and I out to the lot, put the keys in my hand, and told me that she was working on two other sales at the moment and that she didn’t have time to ride along with us for a test drive. So my husband and I drove it around. Luckily for us, we had spent the better part of an hour Saturday night at a different dealership (Adamson Motors in Rochester, MN), where the salesman took the time to ride along with us, and explained the majority of the features to us. Jen didn’t do any of that until after we had agreed to purchase the vehicle, and she flew through the information so quickly that I wasn’t able to absorb any of it. This is a vehicle that has a lot of bells and whistles, navigation system, and bluetooth.
I also brought to her attention that the vehicle didn’t have an owner’s manual. She said that she would order one, but that it would take about three weeks to arrive. She didn’t even bother to look around to see if there was one lying around, or one from another Jeep that she could have given me. Since she was ordering one anyway, couldn’t I have one that was already there? Now, I have a HUGE problem with this. This is a vehicle that is barely a year old, it has a lot of electronics and gadgets that aren’t intuitive, and I happen to know that the Jeep was at the dealership for a few months before I bought it. Why was this not addressed prior to selling the vehicle? Is it a common practice at this dealership to sell relatively new vehicles without owner’s manuals? Part of me wants to just contact Jeep and get a manual myself, as I’m seriously questioning the reality of actually getting one from them. Again, I was glad that I had test driven a different Grand Cherokee with a salesman who actually had the time to show me how it worked. Unfortunately, I should have purchased from him, as he had actually made an effort to earn my business. If he would have had exactly what I was looking for, I would have. Jen acted like the vehicle was already sold before we even agreed to buy it. And maybe she just employs a hands-​off approach since a lot of people don’t like pushy salespeople… maybe that’s all it was. I just felt like she didn’t have any time for us.
Oh, and after we had agreed to purchase the vehicle and it had been taken to the back to be detailed, there was still garbage in it after they had finished. I received a message that my plates came in last Thursday. My mom was the one taking the message for me, and told me that she received some attitude from whomever she spoke with in regards to having the plates mailed out to me. I’ve never had any issue from any other dealership regarding the shipping of license plates.
Ah, and here’s another pet peeve… while they were detailing the car, we were told they would «fill it up» for us with gas. Apparently their policy on «filling it up» is only half a tank and they didn’t even get it to the halfway mark. I just spent $ 30,000+ in their freaking dealership, and they can’t even give me one tank of gas? Cheap bastards.
In hindsight, I probably should have purchased a vehicle from Adamson, since the salesman there was friendly, helpful, and actually spent about an hour’s worth of his time with us.
