Worst«fun» run ever, if you can even call it that. On the entire course, their were only 3 obstacles and one of them stopped working and broke after we waited in line for 20 mins to do it. Every obstacle was backed up with 20 to 30 min lines. It was in the middle of the dessert but there was only one water station which is a health hazard. The slime aspect was okay but not that great. Not even worth the gas I had to use to get there from SD.

I also ran this Oct 2014. I couldn’t believe how bad it was. It was not an event. Had to carry keys as there were no lockers or bag check. No music or any vendors in the staging area. Very few obstacles, and had to skip one because the lines had 100+ people for a water slide. Barely any slime. Slightly better than a run in the desert.

I ran this way back in mid-October, so this is long overdue. I don’t know if it was because of the location or just the event itself, but I would not run this again at this location. Plus it’s not a real race seeing as the majority of people were walking and they didn’t time the run(and I was running the whole time!). First off, we had to pick up our package, which was organized by last name. While my friend and I breezed through the Z line(Yay for being a Z!), my friend had to wait for a good 20 minutes in the common letters line to be told that he wasn’t on the registration list. I think instead of having it by last name, they should organize it so that each volunteer has the whole list of names or at least accommodate for the more common letters. Afterwards, you pick up your package, which comes with a cheap plastic cup, sweatband, bib, and a barrel of slime that is just for show because the slime doesn’t actually stick onto you at all and ends up as a sad dirt-covered green booger. During the 5K, there were obstacle courses, slime stations, and one water station. We had to wait to go through the four obstacles they set up. For the third obstacle, we ended up waiting for a good 30 minutes(stop taking pictures at the top of the obstacle, peoples, and keep running, damn it!). Again, this might have been a location issue. The trail was all dirt, there was hardly any shade, and it didn’t help that we were drenched with muddy water from the second obstacle and had to run the majority of the course waterlogged. When we finished the«race» and were all covered in slime, there was no real place to clean up or get changed, so we ended up trekking to the dried out lake in an attempt to wash off the slime, which proved unsuccessful. In the end, we just placed towels on the car seat as best we could to keep the car seats from getting dirty. Also, the website mentioned there would be «vendors, beer garden, food, music, and a slime toss», none of which were present. Postrace refreshments included water, water, and water. I guess I’m still traumatized by the event, considering this is long overdue, and yet I feel the need to write about it. Needless to say, I’ll be saving my $ 25(via Groupon) for something else.
