Update, i went in to ask for my money back now that I will have to replace the dress and now will have another tailoring bill to pay. The belt is no longer sold and is almost as expensive as the wedding dress itself, so it will have to be taken off and sewed onto another dress. Hopefully it can be. Kathy not only flat out refused the refund, she again reiterated that she cut the dress where is was pinned(she most definitely didn’t, I would have never given the OK to have my wedding dress hanging awkwardly at my ankles especially given that it was waayy to long to start with) and then she and the guy who also works there accused me of lying — which is completely outrageous behavior on their part. Take your clothing and money somewhere else. Customer service doesn’t exist here.

While shopping online, I read that a fitted cheap suit often looks better/more expensive than an expensive one that doesn’t fit well. Since I saved some major $$ by buying my suit discounted, I decided to allocate some of that to getting it fitted. I had never used a tailor before, so I did a lot of research on Unilocal to make sure I chose someone I could trust. I decided to go with Kathy and she definitely didn’t disappoint. She speaks her mind and told me her honest opinion, which was helpful for a first timer like me. Prices were slightly above average from what my research showed but that just may be the result of me being a student and on a tight budget.

I Am ecstatic! I just picked up my Vera Wang wedding dress from Kathys and am thrilled with her work. It was a complicated dress to work with. She altered the length, took in the sides to create an hourglass look, and tacked the front to create a little bit of a sweetheart neckline. Based on past reviews, I drove all the way from Wisconsin for her services and she did not disappoint. As soon as I put it on, I bursted into tears and hugged her. Thank you so much Kathy for creating my dream dress!

I brought my bridesmaid dress in to have straps sewn on and a snap put on the sash so that it could be used as sleeves(the snap was her idea).(It was one of those wear it 10 ways dresses). I picked up my dress and went to San Diego. I went to put my dress on and to my surprise there was no snap and she had sewn the two sashes that were meant to go over the shoulders as sleeves together… There was never any discussion about sewing anything together. All I wanted was a snap and two spaghetti straps added. I had to run to the store and get a seem ripper and rip the two pieces apart an hour before the wedding. When I called to talk to her about it she laughed at me and gave me the runaround. Saying there was no manager or owner I could speak to and there was nothing she could do. Very unprofessional.

Kathy was great! I had a serious issue with a bridesmaid dress and she was able to help fix the issue, when others turned me down. I received my dress back in time and her pricing was fair. I would defiantly recommend Kathy to anyone needing alterations!

I live in Chicago but brought my wedding dress to Kathy for alterations after reading so many great reviews. She did not disappoint! I wanted the puffy tulle underneath my dress taken out, and Kathy did so beautifully. When I went back for the first fitting she measured it for hemming, then I went back two weeks later to pick it up. When I tried it on everything fit perfectly and the length was perfect too! I definitely recommend Kathy for wedding dress alterations. It’s not worth going somewhere else where they might mess up your dress. Just make sure you have about a month for alterations if you are needing a few different things done. One last thing, her prices were about what you would expect. It was worth every penny!

Having just moved here, and didn’t know where which tailor to go, Kathy was a breath of fresh air. Lovely woman to speak to, and her prices are more than fair for the quality of work that she does. My med school white coat was altered perfectly, with enough room to move around in while still very slimming. She fixed a sweater of mine and I will more than likely bring in a couple of shirts that I need altering. Definitely have her bookmarked!

I had a bridesmaid dress I need altered. I had called around and stopped at a few other places to get an estimate for the cost. All ranged between $ 80 and $ 120 which I can not afford. I figured I would stop off at Kathy’s to get an estimate. She had me try it on, pinned it up, explained to me what she was going to do, and then gave me an extremely fair price for the work. I picked it up 2 weeks later and the alterations are perfect. I could not have asked for a better experience(I have never gone to a tailor before) and a better result! Can’t wait for the wedding!

I have visited Kathy’s many times and it is always been a good experience. The ladies that work there are always nice and friendly. I recently ordered a suit that was a size to big and the arms on the jacket were to long. I took it to Kathy and received it a couple weeks later and now it fits perfectly! You can’t even notice that it has been altered. I would rather pay the money to get it done right. I have gone to some of the other cleaners in the area and have been disappointed with the results and service. I will be going to Kathy’s from now on!

Kathy does a wonderful job with tailoring. The more complicated jobs, it can get a little spendy, but this is the only place I would take something I cared about enough to get it done right. She also did an amazing job on my sister’s bridesmaid dress for our wedding — sis accidentally ordered it 2 or 3 sizes too big and thanks to the magical alterations, it looked absolutely perfect on the big day. I finally thought about writing her a review because she normally does most of my hemming. I recently went someplace else that cost the same price but turnaround was a couple of days faster for just shortening a pair of really nice jeans. I figured it wouldn’t matter for a job so simple, but they turned out completely terrible with a crooked seam. It really made me appreciate how spoiled I got about never having to worry when I take my things to Kathy, and that for the same price I should have had it done right. I haven’t had too much dry cleaned there but it’s always turned out well. I’ve taken comforters there several times. One time a few years back I priced the cost here versus another place and it was $ 20 cheaper here.(Haven’t needed it for a while though so not sure how the prices are these days!) They are also so sweet and friendly in there, it always brightens my day a little when I visit.
