Swan Solar

Would not recommend Swan Solar. Absolutely NO CUSTOMER SERVICE. They installed our system in Dec 2009 and that was an issue in itself. Gave them the plans and asked them multiple times over 6 months to make sure the panels would fit in the overhead taht was being built for them and the tilt would work. When they came to install, it did not work and we do not have the proper tilt due to shading of adjacent panels.
Next, after installation was complete, I kept telling them something is wrong, we are not getting the numbers on the second system we should be. They kept telling me nothing was wrong. 5 months later they finally sent someone and they found out half the panels on the second system were never hooked up.
Then one of the two systems stopped communicating with the online monitoring. Again they said there was nothing wrong. They came once and reset all and said it should read fine. Still no communication with the internet for online monitoring on the second data logger. They said we would have to run a internet connection cable out to the system, that our inside router just isn’t strong enough. We did that, it still does not work, and they refuse to return our phone calls. The second data logger we kept complaining about has completely died now. Tried calling SunPower about the problems and their response was «its a dealer issue». So we don’t have the system we contracted for (no interior or internet monitoring), Swan Solar will not do warranty work, and SunPower does not back up the system. They leave it for the installer.

We have used Swan Solar for TWO installations. First, they installed a system for us in our Laguna Niguel home. Not only did they keep all their commitments in terms of time and budget, they actually helped us get all the information to get approval from the homeowners association, which would have been an impossible task on our own. That installation dropped our energy bills from over $ 600 a month to about $ 15 dollars a month.
When we moved to Livermore CA in 2010, we call Swan Solar again. This time we used their Walnut Creek office, but we got the same great service. In fact, without a homeowner’s association, the job was even easier and faster. After the first year, we noticed we weren’t getting the type of savings we expected and called Swan Solar out. They discovered that squirrels had gnawed through the electrical connections. They made the repairs at no extra cost, and our energy savings are back on track.
My husband and I highly recommend this organzation.

We purchased our system May 2011 and the experience was quite pleasant. The system is out performing Swan Solar’s original estimate. The sales process was great. I found other companies with «cheaper» systems but they were not quoting the same SunPower model we got. We ended up going with Swan Solar because they seemed more knowledgeable and professional than some of the other companies. They are very thorough and also extremely responsive when it comes to my questions and filing for rebates for me etc. They did everything they promised and we are very happy with our purchase.

I hate to post an update like this, but I’m really disappointed in Swan Solar. It’s been a little over four years since we installed, and 1.5 months ago half our panels stopped generating/​responding (we have Enphase monitoring). I’ve called Swan numerous times and they keep saying someone will call me for an appointment. nobody has called me to schedule, and I am generating just 50% of the power I should. Being summertime, this is when we make up for winter. buyer beware. Good deal on the front end, horrible service/​support on the back.

BLOT: We did our homework and saved about $ 5k over the competition. Plus, we prefer to do business with family owned operations.

Hats off to Swan Solar, they made the process pretty painless — and we were not easy to work with. We wanted the best deal, and they came through. We had actually signed a contract with another company, but they beat the price and offered a better solution. So we executed our right to cancel and went with Swan Solar. We had 10 panels installed with enphase microinverters on each — that’s what we wanted, and that’s what we got. Most of their competitors kept trying to talk us out of the microinverters, and were trying to sell us Chinese made panels.
I’d highly recommend Swan, as well as our sales guy Ross Reedy Office: 949−267−1109. He walked us through everything, they handled the permits and all rebate/​tax credit stuff. the install was done in two days with L.A. County inspection shortly thereafter. L.A. County inspector also threw in a new code requirements for sign off that Swan handled within 24 hours, including a revisit and sign off from the inspector.
I was really impressed with their professionalism and attention to detail. They even painted the conduit from the panels to my panel the same color as my house. I highly recommend them and their services!
