I have 2 children the ages of 7 and 9 that have been members of Evolution Taekwondo since October 2011. I can not tell you how wonderful this experience has been for our children and family. The instructors are highly educated and dedicated to my children and their knowledge and perseverance of this wonderful sport. I would recommend them to everyone looking into a martial art for their child or themselves. We love it!

If there’s anyone who would like to start taking up marital arts, improve their game in the Olympic sport taekwondo and/​or enroll their children in a safe yet progressive environment, they have come to the right place. Master Sam Sa and his staff not only have the competition credentials, but they can back it up with the ability to properly teach their students. Regardless of age or experience, I highly recommend this place for anyone. You get both an intense and fun workout there! Master Sa and Coach Clark both are great instructors and are really helpful, especially if you are into competing. Check this place out if you haven’t already!

Updating my review because we recently added our daughter to the EVO family. I love that skill is promoted and recognized! This place is not a belt factory and continues to impress me with their integrity and dedication to teaching the students discipline, respect, and the art of TKD. Master Sa and his instructors are great!

I have been attending this school for the past year and I can confidently state that it is the best I have ever attended. I have trained at three other schools and none were any where close to being as amazing as this school.
They are very reasonable priced, understanding, challenging, and inspiring. They will push you to be your best. They keep up with the requirements for competitions and they encourage competing in tournaments.
They also have a great mentality. They incorporate both martial arts tradition and keep up with the times so students do not fall behind in tournaments or at other schools.
When it comes down to it, Evolution Martial Arts Center is a place that I would recommend to anyone and everyone. You can’t find a better facility in Orange County.

My daughter has ADD and we’ve been looking for a martial arts studio to help her gain self-​confidence, self-​discipline and better focus. Many studios in our area seem to be only interested in taking money & handing out belts, without teaching any of those necessary skills. I came to Evolution to support a friend in a totally different class they were offering, but saw how the instructors were with the kids and the skills they were learning. Most of all, they all appeared to be enjoying it!
I signed my daughter up for the 30-​day free trial and brought her to class. After the first week, she wanted to sign-​up permanently! Master Sa, Instructor Clark and Instructor Guo are great with the kids; they know how to be tough, but encouraging. There are no egos here; everyone from the students to the instructors support each other. My daughter just completed her first test and when they handed her her new belt, the look of pride on her face was priceless. She already wants to learn sparring techniques and achieve her goal of becoming a black belt. We are very proud of her, and very grateful we found this school. Highly recommended!

Stellar taekwondo training. The instructors have an incredible work ethic, and the success of their students is what really gets them going. The facility is huge. The training is intense but never more than students can handle. The location right off the 405 is convenient and quiet. Some members of the UC-​Irvine TKD team also train and sometimes work at EVO, which means there are more positive role models for the children and more training partners for adults.

Came here for some summer training close to home and couldn’t have been more happier with this place!
Master Sa is the UCI head coach, and it definitely shows through his knowledge and expertise in Taekwondo. He doesn’t play favorites and is always trying to help his students achieve their hidden potential. Instructor Clark is great at teaching the «smarter» and tactical aspects of sparring. They don’t just teach competition Taekwondo, but also many belt classes for traditional taekwondo.
Training sessions are tough but always manageable. The training doesn’t only stress competition sparring, but also full body workouts. You’ll be working on your core, muscle conditioning, plyometrics, etc with their diverse training regimen. In addition, the training partners are awesome since most of them are UCI Taekwondo athletes. It’s always fun sparring them.
The facility is very roomy and observers can sit on the bleachers. They also have an upstairs training room too. There’s also a mini drink fridge with water bottles for a dollar in case you forget to bring your own. What’s also great about this place is that they are NOT money grabbers! Compared to other Taekwondo studios, the price I paid for was fantastic. Also, halfway through the summer my sister wanted to train as well and she rightfully only had to pay for half a summer. Most studios would make her pay for a full summer since «technically» it’s still a summer session.
Overall, an awesome choice for anyone interested in Taekwondo.

My son has been attending now for over 3 months and loves learning Taekwondo at EMAC. We find Master Sa and Instructor Clark to be very professional, skilled, patient and knowledgeable. We could not have found a better Martial Arts Studio for our 6 yr old son. EMAC has a great feeling of community with people that are warm and friendly. They offer classes mon-​fri with convenient hours. They also offer a 1 month trial for free so come in and try it… you will not be disappointed. We highly recommend Evolution Martial Arts!

I searched for quite a while to find a Taekwondo school to sign up my sons. There are many schools in this area, but none of them were really offering what I was looking for. I wanted a school that focused on both the actual sport of TKD and the discipline and structure that comes along with it. I did not want my 7 and 10 year old sons attending a school where they would be coddled or not held accountable for their actions. I also did not want a school that would basically «sell» you a belt advancement. I want my kids to work hard and earn what they receive. I am adopted from Korea, and it was important for me that my boys took a Korean martial art and gained at least a small part of their language and culture through the sport. What I love about EMAC is that it is geared towards teaching children, but they hold the kids to a higher standard than other schools that I have seen. Both of my boys have been taking it for 4 months and they absolutely love it. It has been great for their self-​confidence and has really brought my younger boy out of his shell. Master Sa and Instructor Clark are both great with the kids and I can see my boys sticking with EVOLUTION TKD for a long time. I am thrilled that we finally found the perfect fit for our boys at EMAC!

I recently started taking my 3 year old to the Tiggers Class for the 4 – 6 year olds, and he absolutely loves it. They really know how to help the kids focus and have fun at the same time. They are constantly doing different things so the little ones dont get bored or lose interest. This is a great Taekwondo school and I really recommend it.

I enrolled my son several months ago. He enjoys going and has learned a lot. He is gaining confidence and has a lot of pride in his stripes and belts. The instructors are great and they have fun events for the kids in addition to classes. I recommend enrolling.

Master Sa is truly a first rate professional. He builds his business around his principles and will not compromise for the sake of profit. I currently have the youngest student at Evo TKD. I watched each week as Master Sa and his staff personally trained my three (3) year old boy. As a Marine Sergeant, I know boys need discipline and structure. Master Sa provides both with a fun, energetic atmosphere based upon respect and positive reinforcement. There are lots of studios in which one can enroll one’s child. I choose to drive from Irvine to Lake Forrest twice a week for the level of expertise and dedication we get from Master Sa.

I used to practice TDK on and off from the ages of 7 to 16, stopping just before achieving my black belt. Through doing other sports in HS and College I just never had the time to finish.
Now that Im not competing in anything else my desire to revisit TKD has been reinvigorated. I found Evo-​TKD on here, and after seeing overwhelmingly good reviews from parents, I went in to check it out.
They are a small, and new studio, but they have a sizable kids class. The adult class is comprised mostly of UCI Students who are black belts, and are training for tournaments. It turns out that Im actually the 2^nd new adult to sign up with them!
SO:
2 nights a week we (including the UCI Athletes) have a high intensity workout focusing on fast feet, kicking drills, and sparring techniques…
The other 2 nights a week, I essentially am getting a 2 on 1 private lesson learning the forms, and other techniques necessary to test for my black belt in a few months.
I highly recommend checking them out yourself if you or your child is interested in martial arts. Master Sa, and Master Clark are really good with the kids, and are very knowledgeable and articulate about the reasons behind various techniques.
I feel like I should add: Im almost 27, 6ft… 196lbs when I started 6 weeks ago, and am down to 178 now & consequently feel better than I have in years. This is an excellent workout!!!
They are trying to offer an adult bootcamp type class that is low impact and not fighting oriented. I think this would also be a great choice for people just interested in getting in shape.

My husband and I have been searching for a studio that focuses not only on the details of how a kick or a punch should look like or feel, but also a place where my children will learn to fall properly (funny huh, teaching someone how to fall without getting injured. Sometimes you just don’t think about these things), and taking a punch or a kick (experiencing the feeling so if they should ever come across somebody hitting them, they won’t be taken back and not know what to do. Protecting themselves from harm). We didn’t want to sign them up at a studio so we have a baby-​sitter for an hour 2 times a week; we wanted a studio that provided discipline without degrading or demeaning the children. We found this studio, we love it and we are very excited, very.
They not only met our requirements on what we expected from an instructor, but also exceeded them. Master Sa and Instructor Mike make the classes fun and exciting for my kids (Master Sa has an awesome play list that he cranks out during warm-​ups.) He’s brought the interests back in my children wanting to learn more, wanting to be the best that they can be.
The 1^st class they took, my daughter ran over in the middle of class and asked if I can sign her up at the studio. I have never seen her get so excited about anything, maybe except for her art classes, in her life. That was HUGE! She’s this quite, shy and anxiety amped little girl that rather watch from the background instead of participating in something new. I was so happy for her.
Now, if you are a parent looking for something to do to keep your children busy, go check it out. But if you are a parent that wants to lay the foundation for your child that they can build upon for the rest of their lives, then definitely go to the studio and sign your child up. I believe it will help your child with building their confidence; gaining respect not only for others but also for their self, work on the focus and discipline that is required to lead in life. Why? Because if your child get that same feeling that my daughter got the first time in class, then you’ll understand that no matter what life throws at her, she will have the strength and ability to understand it and overcome it with great success.

I started out as a 135 pound, 5’5 athlete. After training intensively and working out, I lost over 18 pounds, and I was 117 pounds at weigh-​in for one of my collegiate competitions. I guarantee that you will experience weight-​loss and your body will feel at top shape. If you’re looking for an intense cardio work-​out, you’ll definitely get it along with endurance and stamina.
Now, this was made possible by my coach, Master Sam Sa — he is probably one of the most passionate coaches that I’ve ever encountered — in my life. I have been under his coaching for a year, and he has helped me most significantly; I saw that I made many improvements (i.e. footwork, speed drills, positive attitude, etc).
Currently, I go to school at UC Irvine, and he is the head coach for the collegiate Tae Kwon Do team. Master Sa has led our school to attain third place during our first year in the Pacific Western Tae Kwon Do Collegiate Conference out of the prestigious schools such as Stanford, UCLA, UC Davis, UC San Diego, etc — which I can safely say — is quite an achievement.
Although Master Sa had many students to teach, coach, and observe, I remember in particular that Master Sa gave lots of individual attention. In addition, it was my first year competing in free-​sparring, and he helped me overcome my attitude towards occasional losses — he not only trained me, but he also expressed genuine care when he sat me down one-​on-​one to speak words of encouragement to me. I feel most at ease when Master Sa is in the coaching chair (You wouldn’t believe how some coaches throw extreme tempers in their chairs, yell curse words, and hurl things in the air during a match); he has exercised great patience and is extremely supportive.
I see myself as extremely lucky to be under the coaching and teachings of Master Sa.
