Oh goodness. This place ain’t right. I desperately needed a mani/pedi before a wedding and I didn’t want to shell out $ 100 at the super ritzy Grand Geneva spa, so one quick Unilocal search yielded Tips & Toes… just a hop/skip away from my resort. Sweet! And at $ 35 for a mani/pedi, the price was certainly right. So off I went to seek out Tips and Toes to make sure I didn’t look like an unkempt troll at this wedding. Word to the wise: NOT the classiest joint in Lake Geneva. First red flag: There were no customers on a Saturday afternoon. Hmm… Most nail salons are bumpin’ on the weekends so the lack of patronage was kind of disconcerting. Second red flag: The two employees present made my sis and me wait for about 10 minutes while the very obviously checked their email. That’s just rude. Third red flag: The salon is very oddly decorated. The space clearly used to be a boutique of some kind because they have all those rack pegs on the walls. The Tips & Toes folks must have decided to not redecorate because they all still hang on the walls… with a smattering of purses hanging off them throughout the salon. It’s weird. Purses strike me as on odd decorating choice. My mani/pedi was pretty pathetic, too. No foot massage. Minimal cuticle work. Shoddy paint job. I actually had to actually ask my nail tech to put a base coat on my toenails! I’m pretty sure I have more hangnails now than I did before I went to the salon. I would avoid this place.
