Visit Date: September 5, 2015 I was craving something sweet in Lake George(who am I kidding? I’m always craving something sweet) and my brother in law wanted to come here. Kilwin’s is a very delicious chain shop that provides awesome candy, ice cream and fudge to the locals of the places they happen to have locations in. I loved my s’mores ice cream and peanut butter cup. The fudge here was creamier than the fudge I’ve tasted from the Kilwin’s in Babylon Village. Wherever you go you can’t go wrong with buying sweets from Kilwin’s.

I first noticed Kilwin’s while walking the strip in Lake George village. In the window, two people were pouring fresh caramel onto a huge cookie sheet, smoothing it out for it to set. It looked tasty, so I went back. Kilwin’s has a huge selection of chocolates, including almond bark, toffee, chocolate-covered Oreos, orange slices, caramel turtles, to name a few. They also have caramel and turtle apples, a range of flavored of fudge, ice cream, and bags of caramel popcorn. The first time I went in, I purchased a variety of chocolates and caramel as a gift. The store is clean, bright and beautiful. The college-aged staff was helpful. It’s a refreshing spot to visit on the strip, where many buildings are run-down and shops are packed with merchandise. Most of the chocolate was $ 30 a pound, but some of the items were priced per item. The prices were a bit steep in my opinion, but for almost everything in this area, you pay a premium. It’s a captive audience in a tourist economy. They do accept credit cards, unlike some businesses in the area. The second time I visited, they were making homemade waffle cones. I purchase a caramel, which was delicious– sweet, buttery and fresh. The texture was just right. It melted slightly in my mouth and wasn’t stale or chewy. I enjoyed this place and would love to hear what others think.
