Pretty good food here, but it be honest, the prices are a bit high for what you get. The fried pickles are good, but I can make them much better. Service is really good and friendly and never keeps you waiting. Food presentation is okay and the overall taste of the food is good, could be much better seeing how it is close to the gulf. Better than most seafood places in the area.

I was super hungry and had a craving for seafood. River point caters for local businesses and the food was not too bad from past experiences. It had been a long time since i had eaten from there. I ordered the grilled catfish and shrimp plus a cup of shrimp and crab gumbo. The grilled catfish and shrimp were as flavorful as a cup of water. Just one speck of seasoning could’ve made a huge difference. The gumbo was well spiced but only contained 2 microscopic shrimp and **gasp** IMITATIONCRABMEAT!!! On a another note the cornbread was delicious! Unfortunately the imitation crab hurt my heart. The staff was extremely friendly and the prices are reasonable. Bland seafood is a huge buzz kill for me and I doubt I’ll be going back.

We had crawfish on Thursday night and they were great. The service was also great. We are new to Lake Jackson and will only be here for a short time, but we will be making the drive down here from Houston when we settle into our home. The only thing I would improve is the beer prices. They’re all over the place and a little higher than most places.

The service was great… I like the way they greet you at the door. It’s like they were there just for us :) the server and waitress was so nice too… Food was great too! Definitely will be back!!!

For a Saturday night dinner, we got there early and got a seat right away. Pleasant surroundings, polite and efficient waiter. I ordered a cup of seafood gumbo, salad and Cajun Chicken. My wife got blackened catfish. I thought the gumbo was delicious and spiced just right, despite the shrimp being quite small. The salad was good but my entrée was poorly made. It was laughable that the word Cajun was used, as it was not spicy at all. I typically lean toward mild food, but this was even too mild for me. Plus the chicken was poorly cooked. I ended up only eating the four small shrimp that came with it, and maybe half of the chicken(and I was hungry). The catfish was okay, but nothing special. Again, very little seasoning, although the taste and texture of the fish was fine. She shared a bite of it with me and it was mediocre but still way better than the chicken. So, except for the gumbo and salad, the rest was pretty much a bust. We will not be returning.

Very disappointed. Service was good food was bland. If I had wanted Red Lobster I would have went to Red Lobster. I had a stuffed flounder filet that I could have bought in the frozen food section at Walmart. Tasteless and the stuffing was mush and fake imitation crab meat.

Came here for lunch and ordered from the lunch special. Not a food critic but, I wish the breading on my chicken fried steak would stick to the steak making it taste better. Mashed potatoes, fried pickles, and coleslaw were delicious though! Would recommend this place for anyone. Affordable food and family atmosphere.

The fried catfish is the best. I always have the fish cut into nuggets and dip into cocktail sauce. My friend had a blackened steak… and wow it was great!

What a great place! I came to Lake Jackson to visit my family and I’m always wary of the standard, surly Lake Jackson service. Not here! My brother and I decided on River Point and I’m glad we did! Our server Trent was friendly and engaging throughout the meal. I had the blackened chicken and shrimp and my brother had the fried oyster po’boy. The drinks never dropped below half full and the food was of excellent quality. The cole slaw and cornbread were great! The manager checked in on us before we left and we felt great about the whole experience. River Point is a great choice in this area and I can’t recommend them highly enough.

the waiter was great seriously i forget his name but he made it okay to be there. the fish was very fishy(you know what I mean) the cornbread was horrible/stale, salad was wilted. the tea fresh and the desert great.

Cornbread for the table was pretty good and the seafood was fresh. The wait staff was also very friendly. Overall a solid local establishment and a much better option than Red Lobster. I recommend trying a po’ boy and passing on the Reuben balls.

Buyer beware, you will pay an additional charge for a to go order(.50 per order). Ordered the lunch specials of shrimp basket and a fish and shrimp basket. When I picked up the order and sat down to eat the meal, the utensils and napkins were missing(so, why the extra charge). The meal was lukewarm and not very tasty. The fish portions I received were dry and both orders of shrimp were rubbery. Disappointed, especially since I heard such great reviews about this establishment.

Visiting from Massachusetts, I’m very picky about seafood. I ordered the Mahi Mahi and it was incredible! Also I have a gluten allergy and they were extremely helpful and accommodating! I would absolutely recommend it and go back!

In town vacationing at Surfside and wanted a nice family dining experience so we went here. Horrible experience! Waitress literally ignored us throughout the entire dinner as she talked to her friend at the bar. Hush puppies were burnt to a crisp and all our food was served lukewarm after waiting forever. Lack of professionalism with the staff as some of them walked around wearing 6pack beer boxes on their heads. Don’t go here! Just awful!

This place gets a 2.5, with a half star being for friendly service. We had the afternoon buffet, and were certainly disappointed. The selection was small(okra, corn nuggets, crab cakes, étouffée, frog legs, shrimp, catfish, and mashed potatoes), but we decided we’d give it the benefit of the doubt. The food was just plain bad. With 2 rows of dishes in the buffet, the second row was somehow off limits to customers, and we had to ask to be served each time from that row. It wouldn’t have been an issue, but that row had the most appetizing items. The staff, while friendly, was pretty pre-occupied with the football game on TV, and were slow to help with that row too. We walked out paying a whopping $ 45 with tax and tip included, but regretted stepping foot in there.

This place is legit! For starters, have the fried pickles. If they offer the special punch, take it! If you don’t think Malibu and Root Beer go well together, you’s a damn fool. Be sure to ask for Charlie and Christian and you won’t be let down. Finish it off with a chocolate eruption, it explodes in your mouth!

My hub and I come to the Lake Jackson/Clute/Freeport area several times a year to enjoy fishing, photography and beachy fun. We have always gone to the sister restaurant On the River. This trip, we didn’t make it over there till Sunday afternoon. Darn it, they were closed! Fortunately, a nice person in the parking lot told us about River Point. YAY! We are glad we came. The place is very familiar, if you area patron of OTR. The décor is very similar. The food is also similar, in that it is good. We enjoy the complimentary corn bread and onion pickles. They are so nommy. We also enjoy all of the food we have ever gotten. I suggest boudin balls to start. They are so tasty. I got the flounder fillets and they were very very good. The fish was mild and almost sweet. The breading was light and tasty. I enjoyed it very much. Hub got his shrimp and catfish and was very pleased as well. There is a Sunday lunch buffet. It looked OK, but we had our mind made up to order off the menu. The staff is always nice and the service is generally pretty darned good. I would recommend this location to anyone looking for some good seafood in the Lake Jackson area.
