We stayed in Moonpie Cottage for the Labor Day weekend and it was everything we needed. A sweet, small, rustic cottage built in 1926, the cottage has a small kitchenette and a comfy king bed. The location is great, only minutes from the Lake Lure Inn as well as the beach. We enjoyed some kayaking and a beautiful morning walk around the lake. Kerri was a charming hostess, bringing us delicious homemade bread and peach preserves. Our stay was brief, but lovely and we look forward to returning!

I spent a few of the best days of my life here this Fall. The accommodations were extremely comfortable and I never found myself wanting. The cabin was very clean. The whole unit functioned very well and was smartly laid out. The kitchen served us well, allowing me to cook up some awesome breakfasts consisting of local sausage which I picked up just down the road at the grocer along with fresh eggs provided by Steve when we arrived(who knew fresh eggs were better straight from the nest? amazing!). The private outdoor hot tub had a nice secluded view and was also very clean. It was a great way to unwind after a day of hiking, canoeing, climbing, and doing all those outdoor things that can leave a person hurting. Steve was very friendly. He offered us great advice about where to eat, what to do, and even what to avoid. He was easy to reach, a breeze to book with, and very genuine. I was a little worried about how close together the cabins were, but we never heard a peep from anyone else. Apparently they’re just far enough apart. The cabins here aren’t full of exotic luxuries nor do they offer the best of much the world has to offer, but they are certainly a wonderful retreat. Near to all the best offerings of Lake Lure, the Arbor is a perfect place to get away from the world for a little while with that special someone. I’ll happily book here again.
