Fairways of the Mountains

We stayed at the B side of the condo. It is called B side because it is the basement. It wasn’t the best experience we have had with Wyndham. There was a cockroach in the paper towel roll that still had it’s wrapper on. I was really wary about bringing them home with us. It had a nice jacuzzi hot tub, but beware when taking a shower when the people in the A side flush the toilet. It became scalding hot. The condo was a bit outdated. There wasn’t a DVD player in the bedroom. We had to go upstairs to the entryway to watch a DVD. Bring your own salt and pepper, there was none to be had in the suite. The stainless steel cookware was hard to use. Everything sticks to it, so be sure to bring your Pam. The fitness center at the main resort, about 2miles away was nice. We enjoyed the toning class. We did not enjoy being charged a $ 2 towel rental fee. The indoor pool and hot tub was very nice. The roads going just about everywhere are a blast to drive. Lots of hairpin and S curves. I enjoyed that… my wife not so much. All in all, we won’t be back.

Reviews on trip advisor are spot on. It’s a part of Rumbling Bald which has great amenities but half a mile away.
There are bugs, but I never felt it was an infestation issue. We are in the mountains in an older outdated unit… Real life isn’t bugless. The bug that got into our unit was our fault for boys leaving door open.
You can only burn the dura flame logs, so plan ahead and bring them cause a fire is nice in winter. Bring a lighter too.
Roads are tricky and endlessly full of switchbacks and curves. 30 miles to Asheville but it takes an hour and a half. Just going to Chimney Rock is 10 miles and plenty far for me with the roads. We went bowling one day at Autumn Lanes in Forest City that wasn’t a bad arrive.
Ingles grocery store is an easy drive too. 10 minutes. They have a redbox which is cheaper than the movie rentals at property. Great store, big too.
Wifi is rough. We used our phones to create hotspots. Rumbling Bald has a little office area by pool with good service.
Tips… Bring your own salt and pepper. Movies are a few bucks to rent which is a bummer cause all other properties we have been to are free.
