Not sure why Unilocal didn’t just change the address when they moved and created a new business instead. In any case, this was my original review from 2010. How expensive are custom frames? I’ve often wondered but was scared to find out. So when a thoughtful colleague in New York sent a rare autographed lithograph of a just-published picture book(Hot Rod Hamster), it was the perfect opportunity. I looked briefly at the on-line option, but quickly decided against it(minimum savings vs. less certainty). Someone at work recommended this shop. They’d done a lot of work for us, back in days when the company used to pay for everything, which emboldened us to frame pretty frivolous things(«First copy off the new printer — Oooo, let’s frame it!»). Upon entering the shop, I realized that I know the owner, Eric — I greet him and shake his hand pretty much every week when they come to the 11 o’clock service at Northland. So it was great getting to know a little more about someone you see every week(Eric and Adriana were originally from Columbia!). They are extremely knowledgeable about their business and gave me great service. Eric listened to me for my wishes and preferences, and took all the time necessary to try different things. The frame came back a little over a week later just PERFECT. It’s now sitting proudly on my office wall. I might get a picture of it and put it in Unilocal.FYI — they also offer to come to your place of business to consult. It was not inexpensive, but given how precious that print was to me, I did well leaving it to the professionals!
