Hertz Rent A Car

1 Star is too high of a rating. I was treated so poorly, and really needed this car to get to my grandfather’s funeral in PA. I am under 25 so I knew I would be charged an under age fee, but tried to book through AAA to save money. I paid for part of the rental online and called this company the next day they were open to get a full quote because the under age fee was not posted online. The manager, Mike, told me from start to finish it would cost me $ 271. When I show up to get the car they try charging me $ 341 on top of what I’ve already paid online. Mike was not in, and the guy at the counter tried to get me to pay for all of it and see if Mike would reimburse me later on. After having an emotional break down, he was able to get mike on the phone, who proceeded to demean me and say things like «I’m not a mind reader» and «why would you even book online» … sorry! If you don’t like it, don’t offer it! After two hours of fighting in this location, i leveled with them and ended up paying just around $ 300 for everything. They were so unprofessional and didn’t even do a walk around the car with me. When I got into Ohio the maintenance required light came on. I called to complain to the corporation but they said they couldn’t do anything until my ticket was closed. I had to go out of my way to switch cars at a different location, and had problems there too. After returning the car I called to file a complaint and corporate had the Detroit regional manager call me, who was just as bad as them. Was backing them up, and even rudely interrupted me to answer another call. After I threatened to report him to corporate too, his attitude changed and said I should not have been treated like that and that he would refund my money. Well, now I’m still waiting for my refund, and they are actually charging me instead. I will never ever use this company again!!!
Instead of being able to grieve the death of my grandfather, I had to spend that time fighting with this ridiculous company.

Will never step foot in a Hertz again after renting a car from this place. Incompetent people and complete run around. Had the car for one day and charged for two.
