One of my favorite lunch spots in Lake Oswego! This location has both indoor and outdoor seating for when the weather is nice. One of my favorites is to order the Mama Leone soup mixed with the tomato soup, it’s an amazing combo! I also LOVE the Shelly’s vegan wrap, which is loaded with kale, broccoli, sugar peas, apples, grapes and hazelnuts. It’s the best!

Good soup and a nice chunk of bread. Can’t beat it. Otherwise I’d leave the 6.00 chocolate bar on the shelf next to the 5.00 tin of breath mints.

Great lunch spot! I ate breakfast and lunch here several days in a row because i was visiting a client nearby. The breakfast and lunch selections are good. I ordered the Veggie scramble and apple bar both were amazing! I just happen to be visiting when they were having a meatloaf weekly special so the first day i had meatloaf and mac and cheese and the 2nd day i had meatloaf with a vegetable squash medley. Every dish was tasty and worth the money. They are a little pricey but well worth it! Customer service was good too. I was always greeted with a smile and friendly hello!

Wide variety of food items that I can appreciate. Picked up a BLTA sandwich and chips. Sandwich was decent… nothing on the same sandwich at the Sage in MAC. The mayo had soaked the bread, there was little bacon. For the price… a fresh Potbelly, Big Town Hero or Jimmy John’s sando will work for me.

Great lunch spot. Got summer vegetables soup and quinoa & black bean salad. Wide range of healthy selections with fresh ingredients and herbs. Highly recommended.

Very good food. But be sure to hit the cash machine first. You will need it. Very expensive for what you get.

The Flying Elephant on Kruse Way is an awesome deli. The food is healthy and fresh I was in there Friday, 26 June and had the fresh carved turkey sandwich with smoked chipotle sauce it was the bomb. The smoked chipotle sauce on the sandwich was out of this world. Really smooth smoke flavors with just the right bite I wish that they sold it in jars I would’ve bought some to take home. As always another fine lunch at the flying elephant on Kruse Way

Great Stumptown coffee. There’s a Starbucks across the street… if only I’d realised this was here sooner!

How do you mess up a grilled cheese? I was there today and had the worst grilled cheese in all the lands. The other elephants make them so good! Even elephants know how to put butter on a grilled cheese. Bummer yall.

I somehow didn’t realize that the«flying» part is becuase this is more of a get your food to go mini version of the regular elephants. So it’s mostly pre-made sams and a soup bar, no proper grill, pizza or what not here. Now if it was cheaper that would be fine but it’s pricy and you could get better sam for less for sure. I think I spent $ 10 on a drink and a basic turkey bacon avo. sam. Seems that this is for office workers in the complex here but I would pass as there are better lunch options if you are mobile.

So EXCITED there was a quiet unknown elephants on Lake O, i lived here two years before finding out. Look for their street sign in the office complex area on Meadow just a block S of Kruse. Amazzzing soups! AND they serve Stumptown yummaroonie coffee!

nice surprise to find a flying elephants close to my home. it’s tucked away on a side road so you could live close by and not notice it for years… like i did. it’s in amongst the commercial buildings on the south side of kruse. it’s a scaled down version of the usual flying elephants deli. a great place to grab a quick soup and sandwich. the cookies are always good and go on sale(50% off) twice throughout the day. once in mid day for the smaller cookies and again at 4pm for the larger cookies. only open until 5pm so only have an hour to get your cookies!

Oh, Elephant’s. I want to like you so much. You are right next to my office, convenient as can be, and I love a soup and sandwich place. But, we have a few issues. The lunch special, which changes weekly and is usually some sort of hot comfort food(think lasagna, chicken pot pie, roast turkey/stuffing/potatoes) — is unfortunately just not that great. It’s always soooo close, but then… the gravy is too salty. Huge onion chunks. Mushrooms in the stuffing. Something, something always keeps me from totally loving it, and I am a fan of homestyle comfort food, big time. So that’s sad to me, but I have now adjusted my expectations. This is a deli, after all… so let’s stick with deli basics. The grab and go sandwiches are solid and tasty. The salads are good as well, with a nice variety. And they have snack cups, like crostini, soft cheese, and grapes or hummus and pretzels for around $ 3-$ 4, and those are a good deal. The soups are tasty too, with a bit more sophistication than your standard chicken noodle, and this is a good thing — except the Mama Leone’s, which is super yummy but is a bit too oily for my liking. Basically, I advise you stick with the refrigerator cases and you really won’t go wrong. Ooh, and get a cookie for a mid-afternoon sugar boost. In particular, this raisin-hater loves loves loves their oatmeal raisin cookies. Because the raisins actually taste like they belong in the cinnamon-y, chunky oatmeal cookie, they’re not just there as an evil necessity. The cowboy cookie is good too but the oatmeal raisin is excellent. Prices are a bit high, yes, but not for the area. If you eat lunch anywhere in the Meadows Rd/Kruse Way brick complexes, you aren’t getting out of there for much less than $ 10 pretty much ever. This is kind of culture shock for the cheap Beavertonite, but I’m dealing with it.

Yum! Perfect place to get a quick lunch. Sandwiches are my favorite but the soups are great during the winter. Recommendations include the chipotle turkey, avocado turkey and club sando’s and the willamette valley salad. Some people might think it is a little overpriced but for the nutritional value and the locally produced aspect I would say that the prices are fair. This is a great place to get boxed lunches for work meetings. Each entrée comes with chips and two cookies. The deliveries are always on time and the employees are friendly. My work has also used Elephants to cater our work events. The catering department is professional and is really great at making recommendations for your group i.e. dietary restrictions and proper amounts. Favorites included the italian torta, steakhouse meatballs and the good times platter.

Fantastic sandwiches, soups and cookies. Service is impeccable. Flying Elephants is a scaled-down Elephants Deli so you won’t find as many choices as at the larger Northwest Portland shop. They do have an espresso bar with Stumptown coffee, panini grills and hot breakfast items as well as a huge selection of bottled specialty sodas, flavored waters and candies, upscale chips, a few gift items and very nice greeting cards, some of which are handmade. Hot deli items like their enchiladas and mac n cheese can have that warming-tray taste and texture, especially later in the day, so I usually hit up the Grab & Go sandwiches in the cooler. Cold sandwich specials change seasonally. A standout is the roast beef with blue cheese, balsamic vinegar and caramelized onions, followed in close second by the Muffaletta – salami, smoked turkey and cheese with olive tapenade on Pugliese bread. The current wrap special is a mesquite smoked turkey wrap with chipotle mayo, provolone, red onion and greens – decent-sized and very fresh tasting. My friend is so crazy about the Jambon et Fromage, a classic French style ham & Swiss with butter and dijon on a baguette, that she confessed to salivating when I offered to pick one up today. Elephants also makes my favorite cookie of all time, the Cowboy — a big chewy oatmeal with chocolate chips. I dare say I have dreamed about these cookies. Soups are excellent, especially the Mama Leone’s and Tomato Orange which are available year-round. There are also several rotating recipes, such as the New Orleans French Market soup on the menu right now. Everything is on the spendy side – a typical lunch can run you $ 10 – but I’ve got a secret: Go between 4 and 5PM for half-price on most sandwiches and salads, some of the day’s leftover hot foods like quiche and frittatas packaged for takeout, and all baked goods. On Fridays 4−5PM their huge containers of soup plus all sandwiches, salads and bakery items are half price. I often stop by on my way home from work Fridays to pick up something quick for dinner, and have been known to throw a tub of soup in the freezer for later.

We LOVE their Mama Leone’s Soup!!! Not a cheap place to go for lunch, but hot soup options are nice for when you just want to grab a healthy lunch on the run, or if you have a picky eater in the family.

If I need a fast meal, I head down here. The problem I have is that all the food tastes like it’s reheated, which it most likely is. From what someone explained to me, they cook their food downtown and essentially cater it to this store, which also accounts for the limited selection vs. their downtown location. So in terms of food, avoid things that you don’t believe would taste good reheated. For me, the quiche is one example. It’s not inedible, but it’s certainly not the quality you would get downtown. However, some foods taste excellent reheated: the soups, the meatloaf, and the toasted paninis and sandwiches. They toast the sandwiches there, so it tastes fresher than the other items that have been sitting in the steam trays. The cornbread can be quite delicious as well. I detest their salads in terms of quality and price. I gave them a fair try a couple of times and regretted it every single time. But forget the salad! The soups are what keep me coming back. Mama Leone makes a soup like no other and is the only thing worth the high price tag. On another positive note, the staff is superb and friendly, and they have several unique items and beverages you won’t find anywhere else nearby. They take Amex but don’t accept Discover. Food: 3 Service: 5 Ambiance: 4 Value: 1 TL;DR: Only get food you think would taste good reheated in the microwave tomorrow because that’s what it tastes like now.

Flying elephants are about what I was expecting when my amiga fantastico informed me an Elephant’s location was tucked away in a super-secret, go-go-gadget pantsuit business park. Yet there it was — among the gleam of corporate glass — Flying Elephants, in all of its seasonal, specialty, scrumptious glory. In return for my, er, mild skepticism(read: relentless westside-food-abyss mockery), I had to buy lunch for my gloating friend. It was the best $ 20 I’ve spent all week. #Elephact
