Vial Fotheringham

Bad reviews for Vial Fotheringham are clearly all written by disgruntled owners who can’t pay their HOA assessments. A response the owner gave on another bad review pretty much sums it up:
«The assessments due to an HOA each month are the lifeblood of the association. They are the reason it functions, common property is taken care of, the buildings are maintained, etc. The dues are there to help everyone, and it drastically hurts the community when they go unpaid. We are a firm that simply helps and supports the association, including recovering the money they are owed (which is agreed upon when anyone purchases a property in an HOA), in order to benefit the entire association. We do not collect ANY extra attorney fees from the association (there is a one time set-​up fee of $ 250, which allows the HOA to send us a LIMITLESS number of accounts, with no more costs accrued no matter how many are sent), despite what this review says; we do not ever come after the association for any money, as our only goal is to get them paid. The debtor is the only one responsible for both the amount that is past due and any attorney fees that occur from working on the account (in order to get the HOA the money they are owed). Our only goal is to promote the health and success of the communities we represent, by making sure they have their assessments paid in full. This sometimes angers individual owners, but only if they have gone into delinquency and not paid their HOA the money it needs to provide amenities and a great community atmosphere to everyone in the association. As far as how Vial Fotheringham conducts its business, there are codes and statutes we must adhere to, so we are always following the law and doing what is right for the association. We also pride ourselves on being highly ethical; we even go above and beyond to educate the association members (something not a lot of attorney firms are willing to do) by providing educational publications, free monthly trainings, comprehensive annual forums (which we travel to different areas to present), and helpful articles/​news/​tips archived on our website for anyone to view. This is all provided as a benefit to our local HOAs, in order to look out for the welfare of the entire community.»
Just like if you can’t tip, don’t go out to eat, the same goes that if you sign the papers to be in an HOA/​COA, and can’t pay your dues, then simply don’t live in one. Easy as that.

These people will ruin your HOA and leave a bad taste in your mouth. If you want criminals and crooks working for you then these are your guys otherwise move on.

I encountered Michael J. Vial at my HOA’s last board meeting and was shocked over how he doesn’t even know the Oregon HOA laws. He pretty much made up his own laws in his head to please my HOA board and when I kept asking him what the procedures are to solve certain problems by Oregon stature he said he didn’t have to explain it to me… what he didn’t understand is that I know the laws and I just wanted to see how corrupt he would be.
*If you use this firm you’re setting your condo association up for a lawsuit by a competent attorney.
Also, Michael J. Vial is a total pompous prick. He’s the perfect example why everyone hates attorneys.
